  what a joke? talk about the speed and bandwidth.
Unlimited means not a 6 or 8 GB block, after 6 GB they give a 64 KBps connection = Dial up connection.
Is it an unlimited one? show ur speed here. (like me)
Mobitel has enough backbone. That's why they give a nice speed as they mention in advertisements. but what about dialog??

OK where did u find a meaning for Unlimited, if what you are saying is true then Unlimited means Unlimited bandwidth Unlimited Speed lmfao, no Mate ur the Joker here, you should have a brain big enough to understand that what Dialog Definition of Unlimited, Yes it has a FUP but even at 64Kbps you still have internet, Thats UNLIMITED AM I GETTING THROUGH TO YOUR BRAIN AT ALL, Plus Mobitel charges for extra bandwidth 1RS per 1MB now that sucks, with this pacakge I just have to pay 6K and download any damn thing I want, Im not saying this Package is good for everyone, I got this Package because.

    A) I cant have a SLT connection cause i dont have a SLT Land line to where I Live
    B) Mobitel's Package is not cheap you still have to pay 20K for the modem, But with dialog i got it for 5400RS
    C) Unit is mobile so I can carry it where ever the hell I want and still have internet

Thats why you have to make a study of really what you want before you buy something, You have to Be SMART, dont expect others to be SMART for you, only n00bs do that kind of stuff.. BTW I get a speed of 2Mbps most of the time to where I live thats definitely good enough for me. Uploads speeds are quite slow, obviousely because HSDPA is only for High Speed DownLink Packet Access.

forget abt it man .. anyway I dont know what do u mean by "you have a big mouth to ask". They should tell me every details what ever I asked or not. If i know every thing why we need customer service?? huh?

Hey I'm the customer here OK.. U dont realize how good overseas customer service is OK.. I have experience man! This customer service is sucks (I'm not saying all of them bad.. cuz they r friendly but most of them dont know any thing regards it.. I dont know abt u?.. (customer service isnt mean only call "hello sir/madam what can i do for you...blablabla" they also should give all the details what ever you asked or not).. Anyway I'll disconnect this after 6 months .. and then I'll see what can SLT(much stable than any other network) can offer.. Atleast they have real Unlimited way.. you know I have a friend with 512kb/s he download abt 30-40 gb permonth...,

i second ur opinion on Nugegoda Dialog... wedak nethi hal paruwo inne.. an especially the ppl downstairs.. they totally suck...

  what ever the company "Unlimited means no bandwidth limitation" hehe.  Don't try to tech about activities about an ISP, I'm in this field. use your brain my friend.
I'm not supporting to Mobitel(not an employee in mobitel), what i need to tell is "Dialog marketing cheats"

    see this one.
    Wikipedia article, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dialog_Telekom
why they can't correct it, refer :
    Dialog 3G

Dialog currently has the 2nd largest 3G coverage in Sri Lanka with over 500 (approx. 40% islandwide coverage) base stations with support for Video Calls, Mobile TV and Broadband internet. Broadband speed claims to be 7.2 Mbit/s but actual speed is no where near and maximum speed achievable is less than 1 Mbit/s(http://sinhala.kalingasblog.com/200...bile-broadband-hsdpa-vs-mobitel-m3-borodband/) Though dialog is advertising 7.2Mbits/s, its completely a false marketting number. It never exists. At all places in the island where HSDPA coverage is available, people get only below 1Mbits/s download speed. Upload speed is similar to dial up. (http://hspa.gsmworld.com/networks/detail.asp)

you are paying for a 7.2 MB connection, But getting <2MB connection what a joke

if this can happen in marketing, SLT could sell 10 MB connection by giving 2MB connection hehe

yep this is a big cheat from dialog. They tell an unlimited and 7.2 MBps connection. But think about the performance.
show any speed test result here? Nobody can reach to 7.2. (even 3 Mbps) with dialog. That's the suck!

Machan Seems like you dont know the facts...

Please note that the package is 7.2 Mega BITS per second.

Sometimes I get 500KBps speed which is

    500 x 8 = 4Mbps...

So what do you mean by not getting even 3Mbps????????

you are in the ISP field and you dont know the difference between 7.2Mbps and actual download speed in MBps?????

SO when you say 512Kbps... You assume you will get 512 Kilo Bytes per second download speed?????

Well I've been using SLT ADSL for a very long time now, the best I can get is closer to 60KBps, which is of course ok, coz..

512 Kilo bits per second/8 = 60 Kilo Bytes per second

According to the website, there is no such a thing. I think uni package has the same benefits as the other package, (I also have the Uni package)

I sent a message to 767 about asking this university package problem. After that i got following message from Dialog SMS help desk

"Dear customer to enhance the Quality Of Service you will be charged a onetime fee based on the number of days up to the next billing cycle. Then the service will revert-back to the original PDP where the customer will enjoy the maximum data rates for the entire billing cycle. Customer will charge Rs: 100/- per day. You can send a request letter under your NIC copy to 0112-678698. These charges will be subjected to 27.78% taxes. Thank you for using Dialog SMS help desk."

about the Advertised speed, yes you can take a action on the matter as any BB providers does advertise there last mile connectivity, from your PC to There server.

if you take SLT ADSL, they say the speed it 2mbps, but we all know you don’t get 2mbps when you download a file from a web site, but if you download a file from SLT servers, you get 2mbps any given time, this is true last miles speed, so they can clearly advertise there service as 2mbps.

but dialog, cant say this since even if you download a file from Dialog Servers you still don’t even get 2mbps, and also there network is not fully 7.2mbps but they have fail to show where you would get this speeds, so this is misleading of customers, this case you can take this with either TRC or Consumer affairs this is false advertising.

    why they cheat customers?

LMFAO you got it wrong again, its 7.2Mbps :P, I don't give a rats ass if you work for a ISP or not, we are talking about Mega Bits per second not Mega Bytes per second, OFC Dialog HSDPA dont give the full througput, I knew that all along but I still bough it cause its still a good bang for the buck, I got a maximum of 5Mbps out of it @ excell world. 400 or 500KBps download speed is faster than anyhting SLT can offer u nitwit, and with 5GB of bandwidth and only a rental of 3000RS Mobitel dont have anything that comes close to the price:bandwidth:speed ratio, so keep your Lanka com link without showing off, and stop posting dumb comments.

:D :D he he talk about cheats, I don't need to prmote our links here. We have too many commercial customers. :P :P
Remember, we don't need to compare bandwidth. refer those links, you will find what dialog offer to customers with false numbers. Even they can't correct Wikipedia page with correct details. What a funny!

I called 0777 886 886 yesterday And they told me that no such condition like "you have to pay normal charges if you reload u'r connection speed back to 7.2 , for 100/= per day" as THEY KNOW and also they said that I cant reload it via telephone! they told me that I must visit dialog arcade ... he he .. I'll go to dialog arcade and see what they have to say! anyway my speed will come back after 15th of this month anyway because of billing cycle ..

And I ask you all Please dont fight in my post! And PLEASE respect to members ;) ..

    Hi

    MrJ said:
I have 3g unlimited( actually not UNLIMITED :( ) connection which offer for university students. I have exceed my 5gb limit... which limit my connection speed to 64kb/s and I wanted to recover its speed to 7.2mb/s by paying 100/= per day. I called 0777 886886. then they told I have to call customer care and recover it. But day before i called 0777 886886 . Then they told me you must go to a dialog arcade and recover it. Anyway I called 0117100100 because i was confused. And they told me to call 0777 678678. When I call there operator told me that you have university package and you cant recover your speed without paying full normal bill (over 3000/= per month.. why the hell i do that. ).

I'm confused !! When I purchasing this connection they never mentioned about it. I 'm in a 6 month agreement so I cannot withdraw my account and ALSO even in the agreement I haven't seen that sort of condition.

Do anyone got the same problem??? or aren't they telling true?

I got the same problem. They say, about a fair use policy. When we use more than 5GB per month, they reduce the HSPA speed

Is there any way to bypass this
