hi there,

since my 2mbit slt adsl connection only lets me download at 0.64mbit (around 80 kilo bytes per second) during office hours (from around 10am to 5:30pm), i visited the dialog center at excel world today.

i was very pleased to learn that i can download at 2mbit for rs.5000 + taxes. and they promised that the service quality would be much better than slt.

after i filled out all the papers i noticed something very interesting on one of their brochures.

it read "SUBJECT TO FAIR USAGE POLICY"
http://www.dialog.lk/en/broadband/images/offersandmain/fair_usage_policy.jpg

i asked the idiot who was there what it meant. then he said even though the package is promoted as unlimited data allowance, there is actually a catch.

if you download more than 8gb in a month, they will slow you down. they couldnt even tell me how much i will be slowed down.

these A.HOLES should be sued for false advertising!!!

since i easily download over 100gb every month, i had no choice but to tear up the sign up form then and there and walk out :-(

so be careful if you ever wanna get a CHAAAMAX connection from dialog.

if there are any chaamax subscribers in this forum, please do let us know how ur experience with chaaamax is going. are you being slowed down? how slow is ur connection after going over the limits?

SLT is slow, yes, but everything is slow! Only one way out of it! Go abroad. But if you're in Sri Lanka, you can't beat the dominancy of SLT.

Thnks for the advise friend. I know it in past days. DIALOG WIWAX( I MEAN CHAMAX) is not good for us. It was very expensive and we can't get the right speed from it. DIALOG ARE CHEATERS I have a SLT commercial connection and I can surf the internet very fast. So I think SLT one is the best one in this country.

i just returned 2 sl after being abroad for 5yrs...

i thought the situation here would have improved a lot after all these yrs :-(

i had a 7mbit connection abroad. havin 2 download at 0.64mbit is really really reeeeeeeeeeeeeally painful... they shouldnt charge so much if they cant guarantee the service level!!! i only paid arnd rs. 5400/- for a 7mbit conn abroad!!! im paying rs. 7762.50 for 0.64mbit connection here...

wtf is wrong with these sri lankan companies???

Thanks for informing about the situation. I never knew about this policy. I was actually considering to subscribe for a WiMax connection since it was launched as I'm too having a lot of issues with my SLT ADSL line especially in the day time.
