hey,

Wimax is a shared bandwith technology. You cant blame anyone as its how the technology is implemented.

FUP was introduced as the heavy users ( heavy downloaders.. :P ) were totally utilizing the whole bandwith & it affected almost all the other users who use the internet for other purposes like web surfing, email... etc
& their were lot of complains from all those other users for the browsing speed becoming slow... & thats when FUP came into play.

As a result inthe future all the heavy downloaders will be handles in such a way that wont affect the normal users...

I cant reveal technical information on how they do it because this is a public forum.

for your information machan...
there is something called CIR & MIR for the connection. when you say "I have 1Mb/256kb connection" it means that your MIR is such. your CIR is very lower than that. So you cant blame if you dont get 1Mb/256 all the time. Coz what they gurentee is the CIR, MIR is something which you can go for if there is bandwith left, you cant blame anyone coz broadband is shared technology & so is wimax.

CIR - committed information rate
MIR - Max information rate

This might go away when they further expand their internet bandwith

hmmm... i wonder y u defendin dialog??? mabbe u work 4 them?

anywho... i know all about the technical side of things when it comes 2 broadband... mind u i do have an IT degree :-)

we are not complaining about the fact that broadband services like adsl, wimax, etc. could be slow at times...

we are complaining about the fact that dialog has intentionally mislead the consumer... (they do not clearly advertise the limitations of the service)

besides, this is not the way that proper isps handle p2p traffic... proper isps impliment a QOS layer... web/email/voip/etc traffic is given priority over p2p traffic.

the bottom line is, we are only askin for them to deliver what our moneys worth.

what's the point in paying the full price of a unlimited/2mbit speed connection when in reality, u never get what u pay for???

if they cant deliver (due to technical reasons or whatever), they shouldnt charge such a high price!!!

Not good enough bro! their business expansion is non of our concern, why do we have to pay for someone else's bandwidth?

Where's the value for consumer's money?

    SLT EVEN GIV (495*3600*24*30)kb/(1024*1024*8)kb = 152.9 GB

    Machan,
If you read the end user agreement carefully you'll see that it states "user should not use any type of P2P or Torrent applications".

& this new policy will not totally limit your downloads like, "you can download 4GB & thats it no more internet". :P

    Its not like that.

as an example now with slt adsl users being everywhere no one is getting the full bandwith. correct me if im wrong.

I don't know about the situation of ISP's in SL, but that's not the whole point... why aren't users getting what they are suppose to be getting?

I don't know whether any other countries have these sort of policies! certainly Dialog's mother company (Telekom Malaysia) didn't have this kind of bullsh*t when they started!

we know what is adsl bro..
and we know that it is not dedicated...
the thing is SLT's CIR is better than dialogs FUP..
BTW most of the adsl user that i know get around 52kBps..
on P2P downloads on the day time...
So when you comparing these CIR with dialogs FPU...
    obviously the SLT wins....
BTW whats the point of having a 2mb line with a 16GB limit..
and most of the slt users wont get the speed because..
the SLT's wired network is really messed up..
and i have used DBB's dedicated lines before..
and their mpls is really a bull shit..
    :P

    here my speed test..

    hehe..
    they didnt limit ban..
the didnt have enough bandwidth to support the users..
thats why the speed drops down..
    :P
after getting that new fiber link from india..
    it was speed up again..
    :)

Yeah! Actually any ISP can state in the contract that the *speeds are on best effort basis* I think its understandable because you cannot be guaranteed about the same speed all the time... but make it a policy is bit too much.. of greediness! :frown:

aha, nice to hear, I will never ever buy such stupid connection. If the data limit is said unlimited it should be unlimited, reducing speed is measure of limiting. I do not need a internet connection for browsing only!!

    slt wins

    u guys r correct...

slt adsl is the best option for broadband in SL even though they dont deliver even half the bandwidth that we are paying for during day time...

but i was counting on another company like dialog to come in and save me from this situation...

i guess i was just dreamin... dialog is nothing more than another money hungry monster that came to prey on us...

so until another saviour comes along, im gonna stick with my "night time isp" - SLT :P

dialog: i hope u ppl will get ur act 2gether and get rid of this nonesense FUP!!! most ppl dont want 2 get a highspeed broadband connection just to check their hotmail accounts!!!

MIR wont come if u dnt hv enough bandwith .......
