Take the banking system in sri lanka. we have all the modern facilities in the world in sri lanka. How? because of the competition between the banks. Do you think we will get the internet banking in sri lanka if only Peoples bank and Ceylon Bank operate in sri lanka?? NO!!!!

It is always good to have a balance. Yes i agree we need to monitor the pvt university's.
Otherwise they will be like normal university's in sri lanka. with JVP politicas and rag and all.

Ya there should be a place. But Country like a Srilanka Most of the people are poor i don't think that even 95% of people can't spend 2 million + of his son/daughter education. They have to think about their meals first. The solution is to increase the intake of the Local unis and give more facilities.

I don't think that foolish people should take a degree by money and put our country to more depth

those who can afford that education will afford it, the rest will go on the way they would have, if that education system did not exist.

1. Do you think people who are so rich in this country still go to government uni machan? No they sent their child to UK, USA or Ausi. so they dnt give a shit abt pvt uni or government uni in sri lanka

answer is: one condition that SB put to these uni is they need to give 20% of their intake seats free to the government. that mean if they are planing to take 1000 students per semester they need to give 200 slots to government.
so if you have done your A/L well with good pass and all you can apply to those pvt uni + government uni. if you z score is good for the pvt uni you will be get selected to study.

so the poor people get 2 chance in here.
1. they have the capability to go to pvt uni in sri lanka (free)
2. the people who are interested and who are applying to the government uni will be reduce so the people who want to go to uni can go to it without a problem.

so your telling me that I have to pay Rs.12 million to some American University to get my aerospace engineering degree, because of some stupid stuck up idiots like you? do you know that even the brightest students who get 3As and get to katubedda campus are not allowed to follow their passion? that they have to choose the career paths according to some stupid test? not according to their liking? that is how much our so called FREE education gives us. I lost my dad when I was 11 years old and I certainly not am rich. My mom is actually mortgaging her whole life to make me an aerospace engineer. IF there were private universities offering the degree here I wouldn't have to pay that much lager amount + i wouldn't be giving it to USA! instead i'll be giving it to the Sri Lankan government. Don't be so selfish and stuck up people. Every human has a right to learn, has a right to choose what they want to do. and what makes you guys; who are learning from our money, eating from our money, living off from our money and basically damaging and ruining the property that are there in the first place from our money; so superior to deny us from learning? Think if private uni allowed in Srilanka Farmers son just missed to local uni and Start farming or labouring but the one who got 3S for A/L get a Medicine degree. So is it a good thing, Srilanka can't grow up with foolish brainless peoples.

believe me getting a MBBS is one of THE MOST hardest things to do. I've seen people struggling for more than 6 years just to get it! and mind you, I've seen people who get 9S's for OL's getting 3A's for ALs. Don't judge people and think your superior and that other people are foolish! that shows your foolishness more than anything!
