Dual monitors are fine. I dock my notebook and use both the notebook screen and a large monitor. Quite useful when you use Zoom. The downsides are the extra cost, power consumption & desk space. Also neuroscientists do not think multi-tasking is a quite useful strategy for humans. Their view is that we really do not multitask, but switch between tasks rapidly - and there's an associated hidden cognitive cost in this.

PS: Some do prefer more. eg my son uses four monitors. I haven't got an idea how he switches in between.

I completely agree with the statement that we do not really multitask, but switch between tasks rapidly. At least, it's true for me Nevertheless, Dual/Multiple Monitors save hell of a lot of time and effort for me.
