sorry for being so nerdy I just want to point out graphic card isn't the only one in which helps to get a smooth frame rate you may need to concern about other primary hardware devices as well. also Dx11 games tend to utilize the GPU (graphic processing unit which means the processor of the graphic card) while Dx9c games utilize the processor. it's actually a complicated thing to setup a good PC as well as develop a game for PC since there might be millions of hardware combinations.

Machan, I want to clarify one thing, some ppl say 250GTS is batter then 450GTS and recommend 460GTX. they say it'll cost bit more but worth the price.

what is your opinion about this?

p.s - and what is Factory Super Clocked version?

It's actually depend on the game you intend to play , the engine of the game powered by, and the hardware combinations, settings of the game, and there might be other various factors. let me clarify it by an example ,imagine if you intend to play a FPS game like Call of Duty MW3. since it's a FPS game it doesn't draw polygons much relative to Open World game like Skyrim ,Mafia 2, GTA IV. so in that case MW3 heavily uses the less calculations but high visual details such as Shaders, Motion Blur, Ambient Occlusions, Depth of Field, HDR, Tessellations (MW3 doesn't use but most of Dx11 games use. these technologies heavily use the GPU than CPU so that's why you need to concern about GPU (graphic card) than CPU when you intend to play a FPS game. but in other hand Open World game utilize the CPU relative to GPU heavily. example GTA IV uses Euphoria Engine which is for simulating the human natural motions and Mafia 2 which uses PhyX engine(unless you didnt switch to GPU cause Mafia 2 uses nvidia phyX) of course FPS games use these features too but not heavily like open world games. Open World games have a lot of calculations in the gameplay so it needs a really good CPU. don't forget some games are console optimized not the PC so you would see a lot of performance drop if you try those games on a low end PC. so if you think to play a lot of FPS games go for 460GTX and buy a Dual Core Processor. if you think to play Open World games then go for 250GTX and a Quad Core Processor. but remember when it comes to Dx11 optimized(if that game is available for consoles it's not really a Dx11 optimized game) games regardless of the type of the game you would still need a good GPU cause Tessellations and Soft Shadows use the GPU and these features are heavily used in Dx11 games to improve the Visual quality.

machan GTS250 is based on old G92 core from GT8800/9800... but it has 256bit memory bandwidth comparing to 128bit GTS450.
GTS450 is based on GF106 which is better than G92 based cards. but both are performing almost identically in gaming.
GTX 460 is the best card for the price in Sri Lanka
super clocked versions got higher GPU clock speeds than normal (overclocked) by the manufacturer

Machan I have decided to buy 460GTX.

I am not sure what kind of games I'm going to play. I guess all kinds.

But I like GTA IV, what you mean is i will be having trouble playing it. Anyway it'll work, will it?

And also I think newer is better ..
    thanks for your help machan

    Cheers :D

It doesn't matter what kind of GPU you have if you don't have at least a Triple Core Processor which actually ain't made by Intel you can't get above 30fps.
so think to upgrade your CPU as well. so what kind of CPU you have?
in fact GTA IV was badly optimized for PC. it's actually a console game though later was ported for PC. anyhow
if you have a Quad Core Processor 2.6GHz<
Dx11 Mid Range graphic card GTx460,560<
    4GB RAM
you can play any game with max settings above 30fps.
if you wanna play MMO or MMORPG games you need to concern about Internet Speed as well. Guild War 2 ,Tera ,Secret World are gonna be released in this year. I am sure they need at least a 1Mb/s connection.

check this site when you want to make sure the game you intend to play works on your PC or not.

I got Dual-Core with 2GB RAM, I can upgrade the RAM to 4, but not a Triple-Core anytime sooner.

I heard GTA IV is a bad ass game which requires more than what ever you got. I just wanted to try it, that's all.

I have 8Mb/s internet, upgraded it last week.

    cheers :D

salli naththam mona karannda ban ithin :(

    ATI Card එකක් ගනින් ඒවා ලාභයි නමුත් nvidia එකම series/range එකේ card තරමටම හොදයි, අඩුවෙන් power consume කරන නිසා විදුලි බිලත් අඩුවෙයි.
