It mostly depends on the item you have ordered and its weight. Usually if its relatively heavier (to what usually comes through post) they will ask you to come to the post office.
But usually in most of the cases they will be delivered directly to your home by the postman.
I have bought many time from eBay and only one time I had to go to the post office to pay the customs & collect it. (It was for a pack of 3 Gaming Mouse which tend to be bit heavy) But the custom duty was very less(about 5% at that time) compared to what the package was worth of and the officers at the post office customs division were kind enough to keep the tax to the minimum.
Depending on what you have ordered, but 95% of times it will arrive to your door step. (Even small electronic items were no problem.) However if you're ordering things like laptops or mobile phones you'll definitely have to go through the custom clearance.
