Well HR mangement is used in many fields. The latest trend is in Planning field. Especially in Physical Planning HR is major factor. In Jayawardenapura university there is a specific degree for this. Other than hat in Urban Planning & Quantity Surveying (both in Moratuwa university) lectures on this as a adjacent subject with the main.
HR fiels is quite broad, the knowledge acquired in HR can be put in to the use of any field, ranging from Engineering, Plannin, Politics etc. anything. It has become the steering wheel of all these fields.

ia there an external degree available in mora?

n no major diff between external n internal ne ?

IT field does require Math knowledge & in Moratuwa, it's only Math students & Bio students get the chance.
But in Colombo there are degrees which commerce students can join too.
The mathematics which is required are taught from the begining in these degrees.
But YES, Math students do have an advantage, but doing along with Management will be the solution for Commerce stream students:D

Inside SL machan I think its software. Simply coz we dont manufacture computer hardware in SL due to lack of technology. But outside SL they are pretty much the same.

i saw a vacancy for a software engineer with a salary of $1600 per month(in SL)

is this below average or average or above average?? i like the salary pretty much ;)

Well in Mora of course u can do those Urban Planning, Quantity Surveying MSc., but due to the situation prevailing in SL educational system, no external degrees are available.

i hope to study in APIIT or SLIIT. so i think the subjects im doing for my ALs will not count to enter them.

is Management added as a subject in the IT degree or i have to do it externally??

if ur interested in Networking I think CCNA is the place to be. The .Net framework contains a module called ASP.net which is entirely for web engineering. Plus there are languages like PHP and JavaScripts that you might wanna learn. Those are interesting stuff. Plus machan these days there is a hype for JSP (Covered in SCJP upper levels) due to security reasons. So i recommenced you have a hand on that also.

Dont worry machan, once you get your hand on one programming languages in web, the rest is more or less the same. :D :D

There are quite alot of opportunities for a web development both outside and inside SL. Who knows u might even get the opportunity to join google oneday. :D

thanks for the info machan. and also i thank you to open this thread. this will useful to all the EK members those who hope to find the solutions for there future.:D :D :D :D

well machan to get that kind of a salary u need to have experience. You might be highly qualified. But no company will be willing to let u run the whole IT dept without any experience. So get in to the job market before its too late and get some experience.

Machan what is better cource to follow, BIT , BCS or ACS?
BIT(Colombo and Moratuwa) is a local degree and the two universities offer two difference degree. I would like to follow BIT after BCS. Some people say that following BCS and BIT are in same stage and its a wast of time.
according to my opinion BCS is better than BIT and BCS is recognized by the most of the universities in the world and easiest way to enter a university in UK or Australia.
I also heard about the ACS but I have no idea about ACS.
Can you tel me what is better (BCS, BIT or ACS) and the reasons why?

I am not that expert in the IT field as I said in my first post:D
I just said about the general background, but I'm sure Heshan or someone else will sure will answer u!

P.S. If u are planning to apply for APIIT, then may be u should contact Fazaal, since he too is following a degree there:D

well not really machan. UCSC (University of Colombo School of Computing) offers a degree called BICT where you can enter regardless of what you did to A/Ls. Of course there is an amplitude test and a certain level of Z-Score. But I dont think it will be tough to follow if you like the subject.

well the UCSC has a long history with BIT and Moratuwa recently started to offer it. But I think both the unis are doing a pretty good job. Surely you can get a job at the completion of it.
Its like this machan. BCS is more focused on bringing a system analysis into life while BIT is more towards technical side. In software engineering, most of the time you need to analyze and build a a system. So both these things are important.

Since BCS is a UK qualification it will have a higher recognition in UK and Aussie compared to BIT. But in my opinion, if you are becoming a complete IT professional its best if you can have your hands on both functional and technical side.

In most of the IT degrees, management is integrated to the curriculam these days. So when you pick an IT degree try to pick one with management in it.

It is best if you can do some management side studies outside your degree but machan time management is also important. Dont try things which are outside your capacity simply coz all the others are doing it.
