Kaspersky is a better alternative but still you need to configure it in a way that it will give u 99% protection. If you just install it without proper configuration, it wont give you the protection from much sophisticated viruses.

ESET is a better antivirus ,performance wise, but not as good as Trend Micro, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Norton in terms of Virus removal.
What we need to understand is no antivirus is perfect. Anything can be bypassed unless we configure it well. And my friends kaspersky can be configured like that and Eset doesn't have that feature. (whitelisting)
So if you need a protection boost use kaspersky (with proper configurations)
If you think about PC performance use ESET. ( if you choose eset, my recommendation is to use it with the software i mentioned below)
