No no. I wasn't talking about a portable drive. I was talking about an enclosure to cover the whole hard drive. I already have a 160GB PATA HDD that needs to be taken out.

Same problem with me. So u changed the Milkman's wife avatar, why men? its a cool one.

    Its 2500/= bucks only

Hah ha, I thought he might have bought it for 1500/=, I can also buy it for that price. I'll try to get it for 2k, if possible, coz the adapter is useful for me. I hav a cdrom and a standard speaker set doing nothing, I'll set the adapter to the rom, and I'll play audio cd's in my bedroom !!!

    But if possible I'll sell two 40gbs for 3000/= and buy 160gb sata 3.0gb/s (I've seen one with 16mb cache+NCQ) for 7000/=

I'm looking for a better one. I thought it will allow me to preview the avatar before applying. But it didn't. I didn't change it after that.

Really? I was gonna sell my 160GB for Rs.5500.

    R1 1 39K 1/4 Watt Resistor
    C1,C2 2 10uf 25V Electrolytic Capacitor
    C3 1 100uf 25V Electrolytic Capacitor
    C4 1 47uf 25V Electrolytic Capacitor
    C5 1 0.1uf 25V Ceramic Capacitor
    C6 1 2200uf 25V Electrolytic Capacitor
U1 1 TDA1554 Two Channel Audio Amp Chip
MISC 1 Heatsink For U1, Binding Posts (For Output), RCA Jacks (For Input), Wire, Board

    Notes

    1. The circuit works best with 4 ohm speakers, but 8 ohm units will do.

    2. The circuit dissipates roughly 28 watts of heat, so a good heatsink is necessary. The chip should run cool enough to touch with the proper heatsink installed.

    3. The circuit operates at 12 Volts at about 5 Amps at full volume. Lower volumes use less current, and therefore produce less heat.

    4. Printed circuit board is preferred, but universal solder or perf board will do. Keep lead length short.

I bought this PATA-to-USB converter yesterday from Unity Plaza for Rs.2000.

It didn't work when I plugged the hard drive as it is. I had to change the drive mode to Cable Select (the other options are Master and Slave). Once I did that, it was automatically identified as a USB drive by Vista (so would XP). However, I have to say, the portability is not as easy as a Portable USB hard drive because you have to have the power cable as well. But, since I didn't buy it for that, I'm fine with it. I bought it to remove my PATA HDD from PC and so that I don't have to open the case when someone comes with his har drive to get some files from me.
