Robben: Everyone told me I'd score the winning goal

The Netherlands international decided the final with an 89th minute strike, and maintained that his winner was predicted prior to the game, while Lahm and Neuer also weighed in Arjen Robben has revealed that his match-winning goal that sealed Bayern Munich’s 2-1 Champions League final victory over Borussia Dortmund was foreseen by fans before the game.

The 29-year-old clinched the title for the Bavarian giants against their Bundesliga rival with a deft finish in the 89th minute, after goals from Mario Mandzukic and Ilkay Gundogan threatened to send the final into extra time at 1-1.And Robben, who missed a penalty in extra time for Bayern in last season’s showpiece shootout defeat against Chelsea was quick to point out that his previous disappointments were on the minds of many of his supporters.

“I heard so many people saying in the last weeks that they would grant me this [game-winning goal]. They told me: ‘You’ll score the goal,’ said Robben to ZDF.

The Netherlands international was still in a state of disbelief at the manner of his side’s victory, explaining: “It’s not quite sunk in yet, there’s still a lot of emotion. I just reacted to Franck [Ribery’s pass] and went through [to score].“It was an even game, we had chances and they had chances. This was such a close match, a match with two teams at the same level.”

Captain Philipp Lahm also hailed Bayern’s European redemption after the heartbreak of last season, telling Sky: “We had to go through so much, especially with that lost final at home last year."But everybody worked unbelievably hard in the last year and we finally were rewarded.”

And Manuel Neuer was also quite frank about his recollection of the previous campaign, exclaiming: “I have to admit, after it stayed at 1-1 I was scared like s**t!“You remember how it went last year. The feeling when we scored late on this time was indescribable.”

Bayern now boast five Champions League titles to their name, level with Liverpool as the third highest total of all time, after finishing as losing finalists in both the 2010 and 2012 tournaments.

Manchester City 5-3 Chelsea: Nasri hits double in thrilling friendly

    283294hp2.jpg

Two goals from Samir Nasri and strikes from Gareth Barry, James Milner and Edin Dzeko ensured victory for Manchester City despite a second-half double from Ramires as the Premier League runner-up triumphed in a second goal-packed encounter with Chelsea in three days.

The friendly continued where the first encounter left off as Barry opened the scoring within three minutes following a terrible error from Oscar, before Nasri doubled the lead before the break with a lovely finish.

In a second half rife with attacking intent, both Ramires and Mata almost instigated a comeback, only for lovely finishes from Milner, Nasri and Dzeko to put paid to any hopes of a Blues recovery.

Ramires gave the Blues some hope with a smartly-taken finish just after the break but two lovely goals from Milner and Nasri soon put paid to any chances of a comeback, despite the Brazilian grabbing a second later in the half and Mata also finding the net.

Manchester City named a strong XI, with perhaps the only surprise coming in the form of Derdyrck Boyata's inclusion in the starting lineup. Chelsea opted for less experience as youngsters Andreas Christensen, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Nathan Ake were all afforded starts.

City opened the scoring after just three minutes thanks to a shocking error from Oscar; the Brazilian was ridiculously lax in possession, gifting the ball straight to Sergio Aguero in front of Chelsea's goal. The striker failed to capitalize but succeeded in forcing a save from Hilario, allowing for Barry to tap home and open the scoring.

City continued to threaten after the opener and it was not long before it extended the lead. Nasri provided an immaculate finish after he was put through on goal by David Silva. The Frenchman duly took the Spaniard's deft pass into his stride before lifting the ball over the despairing Hilario.

Luiz, Oscar and Torres all wasted chances as Chelsea mounted a response before the interval, culminating in Ake hitting the bar from distance with the last kick of the half.

Their pressure told in the second half as, within a minute, after Ramires was put through by his compatriot Luiz, the Brazilian rounded substitute goalkeeper Richard Wright with consummate ease before tucking home to make it 2-1.

As the relentless pace of the game refused to let up, City responded almost instantaneously with a wonderfully worked goal, instigated by a driving run from Jack Rodwell. The midfielder played the ball infield to Milner who, after a delightful exchange with substitute Edin Dzeko, slammed the ball into the far corner with some style.

With almost 20 minutes remaining, the Blues managed to pull another goal back and, once again, it came through the lively Ramires. After Mata fed Torres in the area, the Spaniard shimmied his way past Lescott before finding the Brazilian at the far post with a smart cross that the midfielder converted with ease.

The pace of the game began to tell in the closing stages and Nasri was there to capitalize on some suspect Chelsea defending, waltzing his way past Christensen and Ake after a clever one-two with Dzeko before clipping the ball over Cech beautifully.

Mata ensured that the goals did not end there as, after Ramires was brought down on the edge of the area, the Spaniard swung a delightful free kick into the top corner.

That majestic finish transpired to be little other than consolation though as Dzeko, once again, finished off the contest with a fine strike from distance, albeit one that Cech should have done better with.

    Barcelona confirm Neymar signing

    neymarandmessi201204010_576x324.jpg

Barcelona have confirmed the capture of highly-rated Brazil starlet Neymar on a five-year contract.

Neymar has been linked to some of Europe's biggest clubs - including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich - in recent years, but declared his preference was to remain with Santos in his homeland until after the 2014 World Cup.However, Santos announced on Friday evening that they had accepted two offers, allowing the 21-year-old to complete his move to Europe.Barcelona followed in the early hours of Sunday morning with the announcement of Neymar's signing.

A club statement read: "FC Barcelona and Santos have agreed to terms for Neymar da Silva Santos Junior. The Brazilian forward will don the Blaugrana strip for the next five seasons. The 21-year old is one of the most promising footballers on the planet."Neymar also confirmed his decision, writing on Instagram: "I'm here with friends and family and they have helped me to write a few things here. I'm not going to hold out until Monday. My family and friends already know my decision. On Monday I will sign a contract with Barcelona."

The 21-year-old's contract at Santos was due to expire at the end of next season and some reports had suggested an agreement with Barcelona was reached as much as a year ago. Now the move has been confirmed.Neymar wrote: "I want to thank the fans of Santos for these incredible nine years. My feeling for the club and the fans will never change. It is eternal!

"Only a club like Santos FC could give me everything I have experienced on and off the field. I thank the wonderful fans who supported me even in the most difficult moments."Titles, goals, dribbling, celebrations and songs that fans created for me will be forever in my heart..."Neymar 's Santos farewell will come during Sunday's season-opening game against Flamengo.

"I made sure I could play the match tomorrow in Brasilia," he said. "I want to have the opportunity to once again take the field and hear the crowd scream my name...

"It is a strange time for me, sad (farewell) and happy (new challenge). May God bless me in my choices... And I'm always a Santos fan!"

Santos, meanwhile, said they made every effort to keep hold of the player for the season.A club statement read: "The management committee of Santos FC announces that it has received notification from the athlete Neymar Jr advising that he has decided to accept the proposal of Barcelona. The transfer of playmaker to the Spanish team will be sealed in the coming days.

"After refusing a offers of many millions for Neymar Jr since mid-2010, and implemented a career plan that allowed his historic stay in Brazil for several years, bucking the trend of Brazilian football to quickly sell its greatest talents, Santos FC finally agreed to sell."Every effort was made to keep him in Brazil as long as possible, even offering to renew the current contract, which ended in July 2014. At this time, however, it was not possible to compete with the terms offered from abroad, which affected the decision of the player to review his professional life.

"Due to the confidentiality agreement, and by mutual agreement, the terms of the transfer will not be disclosed by any of the parties.''

Edinson Cavani will go to Spain if he moves - dad

    Edinson-Cavani.jpg

Edinson Cavani is likely to move to La Liga if he leaves Napoli in the summer, his father has told Ovacion.Cavani, 26, has been tipped to leave the Serie A club, and Real Madrid are thought to be in pole position to sign the Uruguay international.

However, his father, Luis Cavani, insists the player is not seeking an exit.
“He feels very comfortable in Italy, and I don’t say that to make the fans or the club happy,” he said. “I say it because that is what he feels, because it is the truth.”However, he acknowledged that “because football is a business” his son may be sold, adding: “If he is, it seems that his future will be in Spain.”

Spanish newspaper Sport claimed Madrid have reached an agreement to sign Cavani, but the forward told Ovacion: “Until there is a signature, nothing is certain.”Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis suggested Cavani could still stay at the club, with Rafa Benitez expected to be appointed as new coach.“He is worshipped and respected here,” he told Sportmediaset. “With a new coach coming in, he can achieve his goals over the next two years.”

Ancelotti: Ibrahimovic has not asked to leave

    281877_heroa.jpg

The Italian rubbished reports that the striker has requested for permission to leave PSG and says there is "no news" on his own future with the club Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has refuted claims that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has asked to leave the club in the summer.

The Swedish star has been linked with a move away from the French capital, with former club Juventus said to be vying for his signature.

He admitted recently that misses life in Italy and refused to rule out a summer exit but his boss says he will be staying put.

"This is not true, he did not ask to leave the club. Our relationship is good, as it is with other players," he told reporters after his side's 3-1 win over Lorient.

The 53-year-old has admitted that he would like to replace Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid this summer but insisted that there are no new developments concerning his own future.

"Everybody knows my situation. There is nothing new to tell you. No news is good news and I agree with that expression," he added.

"Have the players asked me to stay? That is between me and the club, nobody else. There are no plans to rendezvous with some players either."

Mourinho helped us a lot, says Marcelo

    281451_heroa.jpg

The Brazil international paid tribute to his coach as the Portuguese prepares to bid farewell to the Spanish giants Marcelo believes that Jose Mourinho has taken Real Madrid forward, despite some suggestions that he has been a failure at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The former Inter boss will leave Spanish football in the coming weeks after three years with the capital club, and the Brazilian says he can do so with his head held high.

"We have not yet said goodbye to Mourinho in the locker room, but he is a great coach who has helped Real Madrid a lot," he told Canal+.

"I wish him all the happiness in the world. We'll see who his replacement is and we'll see what happens next season."

Neymar's long-awaited move to Barcelona was confirmed on Sunday and Marcelo went on to welcome his fellow Selecao star to Spain.

"I'm happy for him because he's going forward in his career. I wish him all the best," he said.

Manchester City is an option, reveals Pellegrini

    211554_heroa.jpg

The Chilean has already revealed that he will leave current club Malaga at the end of the season and has now spoken of his potential move to England for the first time Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini admits Manchester City is an option for him when he leaves the Spanish club at the end of the season.

The 59-year-old is City's first-choice candidate to replace Roberto Mancini, who was sacked with two Premier League games remaining earlier in May.

Pellegrini has already revealed he will leave Malaga this summer for "sporting reasons" but has, until now, remained coy over his next destination.

"I am fortunate to have some very good options and Manchester City is one of them," Pellegrini told reporters.

The 59-year-old quickly emerged as the favorite to take over at the Etihad Stadium for the start of the new season even before Mancini was relieved of his duties, with details emerging of meetings between City and Pellegrini's agent on the morning of the FA Cup final.

However, City's demoralizing defeat to Wigan Athletic at Wembley capped off a disappointing final season under Mancini, in which the club easily conceded its Premier League title to city rival Manchester United and failed to progress from its Champions League group.

Those failures, coupled with reports of Mancini's man-management skills beginning to fail with his players, eventually sealed the Italian's fate.

Should Pellegrini arrive at City, there have also been reports that he will bring star Malaga midfielder Isco with him to the Etihad.

Neymar: Playing with Messi, Xavi and Iniesta an honor

    283312_heroa.jpg

The Brazilian starlet is relishing the prospect of linking up with the star trio as he prepares to complete his "dream" move to Camp Nou Barcelona-bound Neymar has revealed he is thrilled at the prospect of teaming up with the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta next season.

The 21-year-old will join the Liga champions for 28 million euros after agreeing a five-year deal and he is desperate to play alongside his new teammates after his final match for Santos on Sunday.

"To play with Messi, Xavi and Iniesta is a great honor," he told reporters after his side's game with Flamengo.

"It's a dream to be going to Barca. I leave Santos through the front door. I hope to return to my second home [in future], which is Santos.

"I feel fantastic, very happy and grateful to Santos and I'm already thinking about Barca."

The Catalans had been using Brazilian defender Dani Alves to lure Neymar to Camp Nou and the 21-year-old joked: "Alves was the one who insisted [I join Barca]."

Neymar was visibly emotional prior to kick-off ahead of Santos' clash with Flamengo on Sunday, but the game itself was a drab 0-0 draw.

Lorient 1-3 Paris Saint-Germain: Gameiro at the double but Sakho in goal as champion's season finishes in farce

    283536hp2.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain ended the Ligue 1 season on a high with a comfortable 3-1 win over Lorient at Stade du Moustoir on Sunday.

The Ligue 1 champion took the lead thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's early second-half effort, before two strikes in quick succession from Kevin Gameiro, against his former club, handed the capital club a commanding victory.

Towards the end of the game however, PSG found itself in the unusual situation of having used both goalkeepers when Ronan Le Crom was sent off. Mamadou Sakho donned the goalkeeper's jersey but was unable to stop Arnaud Le Lan's penalty.

Carlo Ancelotti, in what is rumored to be his final game in charge of PSG, fielded a weakened team, with the likes of Siaka Tiene, Alphonse Areola and Zoumana Camara starting. For Lorient, former Barcelona and PSG star Ludovic Giuly was handed a start in the final game of his glittering career.

Giuly almost got the home side off to a positive start with an early chance to test Areola in the visiting side's goal, before Clement Chantome - once tipped to quit the Parc des Princes this summer - curled an effort past Fabien Audard.

With the league title wrapped up, and Lorient safe in midtable, there was nothing to play for and this was reflected in the standard of play in the first half, with few chances of note produced by the sides.

Nevertheless, young Areola, making his first Ligue 1 start for the club after coming on as a second half substitute in the win against Stade Brestois last week, was made to keep busy in the face of a dangerous Lorient attack.

Maxime Barthelme combined well with Giuly, who teed up Fabien Robert with a deft pass, but the latter's first-time effort was thwarted by a fine save from the 20-year-old goalkeeper.

At the other end, the visiting side had chances, but poor finishing ensured a goalless score at the break. First, Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed wide after a fine buildup, before Javier Pastore spurned a great chance, firing wide, despite having Kevin Gameiro in space across goal.

Nevertheless, the visiting side stepped up after the break, and duly took the lead within five minutes of the restart.

Gameiro produced a fine run and delivery from the right, as he located Ibrahimovic ahead of Lamine Gassama, with the Swede diverting the ball past Audard from close range to seal his 30th league goal of the season - equaling the record set by Olympique de Marseille's Jean-Pierre Papin in 1989-90,

But Lorient wasn't to be outdone, with Giuly continuing to turn back the clock with an energetic performance on his swansong. Immediately after falling behind, he rifled a shot into the side-netting after fine work by substitute Enzo Reale.

However, the Lorient resistance ended there, as PSG hit top form after the hour with two goals in quick succession. First, Ibrahimovic dribbled past Gassama to find Gameiro, who tapped into an empty net for 2-0.

Two minutes later, Gameiro grabbed his second against his former club with a fine shot, rifled into the bottom corner past Audard, after a great buildup from Tiene to make it 3-0.

Christian Gourcuff's men continued to push and search for a goal, and were twice denied by substitute goalkeeper Ronan Le Crom, PSG's fourth-choice custodian, who replaced Areola. The veteran denied Yann Jouffre with a fine save, tipping the ball over the bar.

Late drama ensued however, as Le Crom was sent off for a challenge in the box on Julian Quercia. With Ancelotti having used both goalkeepers, it was up to Sakho to go between the sticks, but he was unable to prevent Le Lan's penalty from going in, as the game ultimately ended 3-1.
