    Liverpool agree Borini fee

    Liverpool agree Borini fee

    fabioborini20110530_576x324.jpg

Liverpool are closing in on Roma striker Fabio Borini after agreeing a fee in the region of £8 million, according to reports.Roma only purchased Borini outright in June, paying nearly £4 million in order to acquire the remaining 50% of the player's economic rights from Parma.

Borini, 21, worked under Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers at both Swansea and Chelsea. A deal is expected to go through within the next 48 hours, with just personal terms and a medical set to be completed.

An ESPN source said: "The player is in Liverpool now and undergoing a medical and discussing personal terms. There is therefore still a little way to go before the transfer is complete."

Borini's agent, Marco De Marchi, revealed on Wednesday that the striker was "seriously considering" the offer on the table to move to Anfield, and it seems he is now keen to try again in England.

    Borini makes Reds move

    Borini makes Reds move

    Borini_2793742.jpg

Liverpool have announced that Fabio Borini will be turning out at Anfield next season, with the striker having completed a move from Serie A outfit Roma. The Italy international has passed a medical and signed a long-term contract. His arrival on Merseyside makes him Brendan Rodgers' first signing since taking the Reds' managerial reins.

Borini is a man Rodgers knows well, having previously worked with him in Chelsea's academy system and during his time in charge of Swansea City.

Liverpool believe the 21-year-old represents sound transfer business, as he is one for the present and future.

Borini has a proven track record when it comes to finding the target and formed part of Italy's squad at Euro 2012.

    Completed

He will be hoping to hit the ground running upon his return to England, with a first taste of the Premier League awaiting him."Liverpool have today confirmed they have completed the signing of AS Roma forward Fabio Borini," read a statement released on the club's official website.

"The Italy international has put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the Reds after agreeing terms and passing a medical at Melwood."In joining the club, Borini becomes Brendan Rodgers' first signing as Liverpool manager."

Liverpool signs Roma striker Fabio Borini

Liverpool signs Roma striker Fabio Borini

Liverpool has confirmed the signing of Italian striker Fabio Borini from Roma for a fee in the region of 11 million pounds.

The move sees the former Parma man link up with Brendan Rodgers for a third time after he worked under the Northern Irishman at Chelsea and Swansea.

Borini has only been with the Italian club for a single season, after joining on a free transfer from Chelsea in the summer of 2011, and managed nine goals in 20 starts for the Rome club after joining the club on loan from Parma at the beginning of the 2011-12 campaign.

The 21-year-old made his international debut for Italy in its 1-0 home defeat to the United States in February 2012 and was selected for the Azzuri’s Euro 2012 squad - although he failed to make a single appearance in the tournament.

Borini is Rodgers’ first signing since his arrival on Merseyside, after he replaced Kop legend Kenny Dalglish in the close season, and may hasten the departure of England forward Andy Carroll on loan.

And Rodgers is sure the Italian is the perfect fit for Reds, and believes the Anfield faithful will take to his style of play.

“The supporters are going to love him,” Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com. "He's a big talent, 21 years of age, he scores goals, and his passion, focus and concentration is a very important part of his game - and a big part of what you want from a player."

Having nurtured Borini during his time as reserve coach at Chelsea, and subsequently during a successful loan spell when on loan in Swansea’s promotion season, Rodgers knows better than most of the talent of the Bologna born man.

“I've known him since he had just turned 16 years of age. We (Chelsea) took him in from Bologna when he was 16 and he progressed incredibly well as a young player to go on to play for the first team at Chelsea,” Rodgers added.

"It didn't work out in terms of he couldn't agree a contract, but before he left I took him on loan to Swansea and he made a big, big impression there and really helped us in our promotion charge that season.

“As I said, he's a goalscorer, but he's a multifunctional player who can play in a number of positions - and someone I believe has got great growth.”

Borini has agreed a long term deal at Anfield, and will wear the No. 29 shirt.

Scholes frustrated by Manchester United's late start

    184359hp2.jpg

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has revealed his frustration at beginning the 2012-2013 Premier League campaign two days later than the other 18 teams.

The Red Devils have had their opening day fixture against Everton at Goodison Park moved from Saturday 18 August to Monday 20 August due to live television coverage.

And the 37-year-old, who came out of retirement halfway through last season and has since signed a one-year extension, insists it would have been better to hit the ground running.

He told MUTV: “It's happened in the past sometime. Everton away is a big game and it's one TV will want to televise live. It's just the way it is.

“It's a bit frustrating as you want to get going as fast as you can with a Saturday game and get some points under your belt. But we'll have to wait until Monday night and hopefully we can win the game.”

Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad are currently touring South Africa ahead of the new campaign and the Englishman described pre-season as the hardest part of the game.

“We've only been doing two or three days so we're still a way off being ready for a game," he said.

“Hopefully, in the next 10 days, we'll be ready and raring to go.

“It is difficult. Ask any footballer: it's the most difficult part of the season where you're mainly running with a little bit of football here and there.

“It's vital and we all know what we need coming up to a new season.

“I wouldn't say I look forward to it but I know it's something we've got to do and, in two or three weeks, we'll feel the benefit from it.”

'He always chooses the right option' - Juande Ramos praises Real Madrid target Modric

    196909hp2.jpg

Former Tottenham and Real Madrid boss Juande Ramos has praised Luka Modric as the Spanish champions look to finalise a deal for the Croatian playmaker in the coming weeks.

The 57-year-old was responsible, along with then-Spurs director of football Damien Comolli, for bringing the midfielder to White Hart Lane for €20.9m in 2008, after the player shone for his country during Euro 2008

Speaking to Marca, Ramos described how Modric is so effective because "he always chooses the right option", and emphasised above all else, the player's "intelligence in the game".

And despite Modric's slight frame coming under slight criticism, Ramos also hailed the player's "very powerful lower body".

"Luka is strong and he does not hide from defensive tasks. He works as hard as anyone," added the ex-CSKA Moscow trainer.

Reports this afternoon have suggested that a fee of around €40m has been agreed to take Modric to the Spanish capital, but neither side have confirmed this as yet.

Allardyce concerned Liverpool striker Carroll would be against West Ham move

    179141hp2.jpg

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has admitted his interest in bringing Andy Carroll to Upton Park, but has raised concerns as to whether the Liverpool striker would want to join the east London club.

"You can't say you wouldn't be interested in Andy Carroll, he's a player who has got great stature in the Premier League," Allardyce told Sky Sports."Whether Andy Carroll wants to come to West Ham is another matter."

Speculation has been rife that the 23-year-old could be set to leave Anfield after manager Brendan Rodgers conceded he would allow the forward to go out on loan.

Carroll has struggled to find form on Merseyside following his 35 million pounds switch from Newcastle in January of last year, and a return to his former club and Fulham have both been touted.

However, after co-owner David Gold confirmed the Hammers intentions to bring in the England international on a short-term deal earlier this week, a move for the player looks increasingly likely – providing the striker is willing to join the Premier League new boys.

Summer spending is far from over, insists QPR chairman

    140884hp2.jpg

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has hailed the club’s work in the transfer market so far this summer and insists there will be more arrivals at Loftus Road.

The west London outfit has already made six new recruits, including Park Ji-Sung and Andrew Johnson and is looking to strengthen still further, having narrowly survived relegation last season.

And Fernandes is looking to make the most of his first full transfer window as chairman to ensure the same relegation battle does not take place in the next campaign.

"It is ironic, this time last year I had one week to do it all," Fernandes told Sky Sports.

"Now I've had the best part of two months and I think a lot of great work was done.”

"We have never said this before but the moment the Man City game was over, we started working.”

"There was one night of celebration and then the guys started working on the squad. That is why we've hit the ground running, been able to make six signings and renew Adel [Taarabt’s contract],” the billionaire added.

Fernandes moved on to claim the club was not resting on its laurels and would still work to improve the squad, allowing the necessary time to gel ahead of the new season with pre-season training already underway.

He added: "It's good as it gives Mark a lot of time to gel the squad as obviously there are a lot of new faces that haven't played with each other.

"It is not going to be perfect to start off the season but we seem to be doing the right things there.

"Maybe two or three more signings are left and then we're done - and, I think, done for a while actually because we would then have a good nucleus for a long time.”

While making the necessary signings to guarantee Premier League survival, the 48-year-old is also keen to improve the club’s academy and allow youngsters to progress to the first team.

Fernandes continued: "The work then has to start on the academy and bringing through kids, who started at QPR at 11 and go all the way up.

"That has been a poor end of QPR as we haven't had many players progress from the academy to the club itself.

Despite the imminent work on the club’s youth system, Fernandes believes experienced signings such as Ryan Nelson and Park will give Mark Hughes’ side a good balance once the new season starts.

"We've picked up a really good level of young players and good level of experience, which I think we lacked last season and Mark highlighted.

"Mark showed me graphs of how many games our players had in the Premier League and it really wasn't a lot.

"It is the toughest league in the world and I think we have a good balance.”

Ancelotti: There is a great chance that PSG will sign Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva

    160995hp2.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti likes his side's chances of signing AC Milan duo Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The two clubs have agreed a deal worth 60 million euros for the highly rated duo, with the transfer now subject to the players agreeing personal terms with the French outfit.

Earlier on Friday, Ibrahimovic's agent stated that his client was far away from PSG, but Ancelotti thinks that a deal will be reached very soon.

"There is a great chance that Ibrahimovic and Silva will sign for PSG," he told AFP. "Everyone knows that we are interested in them.

"We are working on a deal, but nothing is official yet. I hope they will soon be here with us, but I cannot say anything else about these two players, who are among the best in the world for me."

The Italian coach then played down stories linking his side with Tottenham star Luka Modric, who is also understood to be on Real Madrid's wishlist.

"Luka is one the best players in the world right now," Ancelotti added. "He would be a great player for any team.

"But we have not made any contact, nor any offer."

Meanwhile, PSG right back Christophe Jallet believes that the Milan duo would be great assets to the team and that signing them would outline the club's ambition.

"Those are still rumors," Jallet said. "We are waiting for it to happen, that is all I know. If it happens, we will welcome the two of them with great pleasure.

"It would be an honotr to be able to count on such players in Ligue 1 and at PSG. It is a sign of the club's ambition."

Tevez dismisses AC Milan talk after claiming he is 'settled' at Manchester City

    179128hp2.jpg

Carlos Tevez has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to AC Milan and insists he is now settled at Manchester City under Roberto Mancini.

The striker came under fire from both fans and the Etihad Stadium hierarchy after seemingly refusing to come as a substitute during the club's 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in September last year, and looked destined for the exit door following strong interest from the Serie A side in January.

But, after receiving a fine of six weeks' wages and apologizing to boss Mancini for the incident, Tevez played a key role in helping City claim its first league title for 44 years.

Reports have again linked the 28-year-old with a move to AC Milan this summer, but the striker has moved to quash the rumours, telling the club’s official website: "I have lots of different targets. I think that now I feel settled at the club and feel good in myself and am working hard.

“The main aim of every one of the players is to have as good a league campaign as possible and try to be champions again and also to get as far as we can in the Champions League."

However, AC Milan is thought to have made Tevez its top target after agreeing to sell talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic and center back Thiago Silva to Paris St. Germain in a deal worth a reported 47 million pounds.

Chelsea loans Ulises Davila to Sabadell

    170698hp2.jpg

Chelsea attacker Ulises Davila has been loaned out to CE Sabadell for the 2012-13 season.

On its official website, the Catalonian club confirmed that the Mexican prospect will suit up for the Liga Adelante club next season after a first loan spell saw him debut in European football with Vitesse.

The 21-year-old was snapped up by Chelsea last year after a spectacular U-20 World Cup which saw Mexico win third place with a stunning Davila pulling the strings for El Tri's offense.

Unable to secure a work visa as he has not debuted for Mexico's senior squad, Davila forced the Blues to find a temporary destination for the Guadalajara native.

Davila was loaned out to Vitesse for the 2011-12 season, playing in three matches with the senior squad and getting the majority of his playing time with the reserve squad.

At Sabadell, Davila will be coached by former Barcelona and Atletico Madrid defender Lluis Carreras.

Arbeloa, Granero and Albiol to get new Real Madrid deals

    162462hp2.jpg

Real Madrid is set to offer Alvaro Arbeloa, Esteban Granero and Raul Albiol new contracts, according to reports emanating from Spain.

Marca claims that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez will accompany the team during the club's preseason tour of the United States for the first time to handle the renewals in person.

Arbeloa and Albiol's contracts both expire in 2014, and it is believed that everything is set for them to add two more years to their respective deals.

Granero's situation, on the other hand, is a bit more complicated. The 25-year-old has been on the fringes of the action at the Santiago Bernabeu and has been linked with Spanish and English clubs.

Jose Mourinho is understood to be interested in keeping Granero in the squad, but with Luka Modric a priority for the coach, the Spanish midfielder could find himself further down the pecking order.
