    Milan expect Bojan deal

    bojankrkicaway20120417_576x324.jpg

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed the club are close to a deal to sign Roma striker Bojan Krkic.
Bojan, 22, arrived in Italy from Barcelona for €12 million in 2011, but failed to produce his best form during his debut season.

With Milan in the market for a striker following the sale of Zlatan Ibramimovic to Paris Saint-Germain, though, it appears that Massimiliano Allegri is eager to add the player to his squad."Bojan is a player Allegri likes," Galliani told Sky Sport 24 on Tuesday. "Things are moving forward. The talks are going well. Hopefully, we should complete the deal today."

It is reported that Bojan has rejected a move to Malaga in favour of Milan. The switch is expected to be a season-long loan.

Under the terms of his move to Roma, Barcelona are bound to re-sign the striker for €13 million next summer, although Roma are able to retain him should they pay €28 million.

Milan are also keen to sign young French striker M'baye Niang from Caen.
"For the moment, Niang is a Caen player, but we'll see," Galliani said. "I'm hopeful for a positive outcome. The boy seems a good player, which explains why we have been watching him for several years. If we sign him, he'll go into the first team despite his tender age."

However, Milan's hopes of signing Kaka from Real Madrid look to be over.
Galliani had earlier said the club would not sanction a permanent return for the midfielder, and on Monday he told Milan's TV station: "The tax problem? It's all true. We asked the opinion of a tax accountant who said it was 'too risky'."

No bids for Dempsey or Dembele

    moussadembeleandclintdemseyfulham20120517_576x324.jpg

Fulham insist they have not received any offers for attacking pair Moussa Dembele and Clint Dempsey amid recent reports to the contrary.

Dempsey has been heavily linked with Liverpool throughout the summer and was also rumoured to be close to sealing a move to Sunderland on Monday, while Dembele has reportedly been a target for Tottenham.

However, the Cottagers have rejected the speculation, with a club spokesperson telling ESPN: "There has been no bid from Sunderland for Dempsey, so no medical as reported on Monday, and there has been no approach from Spurs for Dembele."

Dempsey has refused to play so far this season as he attempts to push through a move to Anfield, but Fulham believe the player has been let down with no firm offer from Liverpool, who are not willing to table a bid until they offload Andy Carroll.

Dembele, meanwhile, will not be allowed to leave Craven Cottage for less than £15 million - a price tag that is serving to deter Tottenham from making a move at present. Manchester United attempted to sign the Belgium international earlier this summer, but their £5 million offer was viewed as derisory by the Cottagers.

Dembele's performance in his team's 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford illustrated why Sir Alex Ferguson is among his admirers but with the midfielder's contract not due to expire until 2014 - Fulham have an option to automatically extend in 2013 - Martin Jol is under no pressure to sell.

Hughes: Barton move to Marseille still possible

QPR manager Mark Hughes has confirmed that Joey Barton’s proposed move to Marseille could yet go ahead, with further talks scheduled between the clubs.

The midfielder had been rumored to be closing in on a loan move to Ligue 1 after falling out of Hughes' plans due to the 12-match ban he is currently serving for violent conduct and following the Welshman's busy summer in the transfer market.

And, despite the transfer having seemingly fallen through earlier in the week, Hughes admitted discussions over the Huyton-born midfielder's future will resume.
"There may be some movement in that regard," he told Sky Sports.

"I think there is further discussions that will be made, possibly his people and representatives of our club will get over to France and have discussions and see where we go with it."But it's not dead yet. I think at one point everyone thought it was. But it has resurfaced so we will investigate to its conclusion."

Barton's ban stems from his attack on Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero on the final day of last season, an incident which resulted in him losing the club captaincy.

Dembele having Tottenham medical after Fulham accept 15m pound bid

    206101hp2.jpg

Tottenham has had a bid accepted for Moussa Dembele after meeting his 15 million pound buyout clause, with the player now having a medical at White Hart Lane, Fulham has confirmed.

Goal.com exclusively revealed on Monday that Andre Villas-Boas' side had edged ahead of Manchester United for the Cottagers midfielder's signature as both teams made enquiries.

The Belgium international was left out of the Cottagers' 1-0 League Cup defeat against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, with a statement released afterwards on the club's official website.

The statement read: "Martin Jol confirmed post-match that the club has accepted a bid for Mousa Dembele from Tottenham Hotspur.

"The player is currently undergoing a medical."

Goal.com first revealed Spurs' interest in May, with Liverpool and Arsenal also prepared to enter the race for his signature. They were followed by Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea in targeting the midfielder later that month.

Dembele admitted on Sunday that "I want to go to the top" as several Premier League clubs eyed him up, having drawn attention with an impressive display in a losing cause against the Red Devils on Saturday.

The 25-year-old, signed from AZ in 2010, confirmed earlier in August that Spanish giants Real Madrid had made contact with his agent over the possibility of a move, though Jose Mourinho has since signed Luka Modric from Tottenham.

'Inter more than a match for Juventus' - Gargano upbeat on Serie A title bid

Walter Gargano believes his new employers Inter is on the same level as reigning Serie A champions Juventus, "if not higher".

Speaking in his first press conference as a Nerazzurri player, after joining on a season long loan deal from Napoli, the new recruit endeared himself to supporters, with a bullish assessment of their title credentials.

"I think we’re at the same level as Juventus, perhaps higher, and they are the reigning Italian champions," he claimed. "I think we can vie for all three competitions."

The 28-year-old made his Inter debut in Sunday's emphatic 3-0 opening day victory over Pescara and he revealed coach Andrea Stramaccioni had personally requested his services to the club's hierarchy.

"I’ll play where the coach wants me to play," he vowed. "He really wanted me at this club and I want to demonstrate that I know how to play for a team like Inter."

"All of my new team-mates have been splendid, they’ve all welcomed me. I've been made to feel at home, especially by the South Americans."

Chelsea target Hulk handed deadline by Porto over summer transfer

    171644hp2.jpg

FC Porto has given its Brazil international forward, Hulk, until Wednesday to make a decision on his future amid interest from two Premier League clubs.

The 26-year old joined the Portuguese side in 2008 and has since gone on to make 98 appearances for the club, scoring an impressive 54 goals, collecting three Primeira Liga titles and a Europa League winners medal in the process.

Such fine form has seen the former Tokyo Verdy man become a focus of intense transfer speculation and the Dragoes press officer has revealed that the club have now given their star striker a deadline over his future, also confirming the interest of two English clubs, reported to be Chelsea and Tottenham.

Ahaz Felleger told Antena 1: "Tuesday or, maximum, Wednesday, there will be a solution. There are three proposals from abroad - two English clubs and Zenit - there are talks with the player and with Porto.

"Staying in Porto is also a real possibility. He is very satisfied and there is no problem."

The Portuguese club are understood to be unwilling to sell for less than Hulk's 100 million euro release clause.

Wolfsburg makes offer for Marco Fabian

    149396hp2.jpg

Marco Fabian could still be on his way to a European team, according to ESPN.

According to the sports network, Fabian has an offer on the table for him to join VfL Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga, with all that's missing is an agreement on his transfer fee.

Shortly after Fabian and fellow teammates Jorge Enriquez, Miguel Ponce and Antonio Rodriguez came back from London with gold medals to show for their performance with El Tri, Chivas owner Jorge Vergara declared that none of the players were for sale.

However, a hefty price tag for the offensive midfielder could sway Vergara's mindset away from keeping Fabian, according to the report.

Fabian would be just the fourth Mexican player to suit up for a Bundesliga team, following Pavel Pardo, Ricardo Osorio and Francisco Rodriguez.

Galliani rules out moves for Kaka, Palombo and Carroll

    196215hp2.jpg

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has insisted that the outfit's transfer activity has been completed for the summer with the signing of Bojan, ruling out moves for Kaka, Andy Carroll and Angelo Palombo.

The Rossoneri announced the signing of the former Barcelona striker on a season-long loan from Roma on Tuesday and the club's chief executive officer was adamant that there will be no more deals, despite intense links to the Real Madrid, Liverpool and Sampdoria players.

"I continue to say it, but you do not believe me, with the signing of Bojan the market is closed, completely closed," Galliani said to reporters outside Milan's headquarters.

"[There will be] no trip to Madrid for Kaka, nor any signings like [Antonio] Nocerino last year. He [Palombo] was offered to us, but we refused the offer. Carroll? We have so many strikers."

Milan got its 2012-13 Serie A campaign off to the worse possible start as it suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Sampdoria last weekend.

Gerrard: Liverpool not far off challenging for the title

Steven Gerrard is confident that Liverpool is capable of improving on last season's disappointing eighth-place finish in the Premier League and competing for silverware.

The 32-year-old's former England boss, Sven-Goran Eriksson, recently stated his belief that the only chance of the midfielder winning the Premier League would be if he left Anfield.

However, Gerrard is hopeful that the club can win the domestic crown before he retires and believes that finding consistency is key to maintaining a push for the title.

"I don't think we're miles away," Gerrard told Sky Sports News. "We have to be realistic and we finished eighth in the league last year, but we got to two major cup finals which shows that we are a good team and we can compete with anyone on our day.

"If we find a better level of consistency at the club, I think we can find ourselves higher up the table than last year.

"Who knows what's around the corner? For me, I just take each game as it comes and hopefully before I hang my boots up I can realise the dream of winning it, but I'm also realistic as well."

The midfielder also spoke about the impact Brendan Rodgers has had at the club since taking over.

He added: "Of course it's different. All managers are, and we have had a new coaching set-up, so there are bound to be differences, but it's not drastic changes.

"All the managers I have worked with have tried to play the right way for the club, it's worked out for some and it hasn't for others. Let's hope that it's a bright future under Brendan.

"He has more of a continental style, he wants to us to keep the ball more with emphasis on possession and winning the ball back as quickly as we can. Let's hope there is a bright future around the corner."

Wife: Kaka will return to Sao Paulo if he leaves Real Madrid

Kaka's wife has claimed that if the midfielder leaves Real Madrid before the end of the summer transfer window, he will not be switching to a club outside of Brazil.

The 30-year-old has long been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, and the recent arrival of Luka Modric from Tottenham Hotspur has seemingly pushed him further down Jose Mourinho's pecking order.

He had been expected to look elsewhere in Europe for first-team football, but his spouse, Carol Celico, is adamant that in the event that he does leave Spain, he would instead return to the town of his first club.

"We're planning to go back to Sao Paulo with the whole family," she stated. "If Kaka leaves Madrid we won't go to another country."

Despite Celico's admission, the future of her husband currently remains unknown. According to AS, Madrid is only interested in a permanent sale rather than a loan due to his excessive wages.

    Mourinho: Supercopa Clasico remains open

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho believes that his side's Spanish Supercopa clash with Barcelona remains wide open, despite the Catalans holding a 3-2 advantage from the first leg.

Goals from Xavi, Lionel Messi and Pedro were enough for Tito Vilanova's men to edge out their arch-rival at Camp Nou last Thursday, but a late Angel Di Maria strike gave the Liga champion hope.

The Portuguese coach is certain that his troops are able to overturn the deficit if they put in the right performance, but stressed that he was not overly concerned with the outcome on Wednesday's match after a poor start to the club's Liga defense.

"Everything is open tomorrow," he told reporters at press conference. "Tomorrow we will try to defend whenever [Barcelona] have the ball and attack when we have it. We must try to score from the first minute. The team does not have to change anything from the way we played at Camp Nou. We had a good game.

"Winning the Supercopa and beating Barcelona is not important to me. My priority is knowing what happened against Getafe [on Sunday] - whether it's a psychological problem. What's important is knowing whether that was a one-off."

The capital club has yet to taste victory this season after the 2-1 defeat to Getafe, a 1-1 draw with Valencia and the reverse at Camp Nou, but Mourinho feels the team's performances have been impressive, the loss aside.

"The team deserved to win against Valencia, and they were better and more balanced against Barcelona, but the last match was unacceptable," he said.

Madrid has since added Luka Modric to the squad, and Mourinho is looking forward to the Croatian making an impact, and also confirmed that concussion-victim Pepe is available for selection.

"Modric was our first choice, and we know where he can play," eh said. "Modric's condition is normal for someone who hasn't trained with their team for a while. A player like Modric will be in good form soon.

"Pepe trained without any problems yesterday and his wife gave birth to their daughter, so he is better than ever. We hope that he can play tomorrow."

Sahin targeting top four finish with Liverpool

Liverpool new-boy Nuri Sahin has targeted Champions League qualification with his new side after arriving on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old was speaking at a press conference for his official unveiling, and said a club of the Reds' size should be playing in Europe’s premier club competition.

He also praised the squad's performance in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday, which he watched from the directors' box at Anfield.

"If you watch the game against Manchester City, you see that the style the team is playing is very good and of course, Liverpool has to play in the Champions League," he said. "A big club like Liverpool has to play every year in the Champions League and we will do everything to get in the top four."Also there is the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League, and with the potential we have here, we can do some good things."

Sahin also praised the style that new boss Brendan Rodgers is trying to implement on the training pitches at Melwood, and claimed he will fit right in to the type of football the Northern Irishman is working towards.

"The project with Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers is the best for my situation I think - that is why I am here," he added. "I think the style I play is the same as how the manager wants the team to play.

"I have settled in very well and I hope it will be the same on the pitch and that we will have a great season."

The young midfielder also remained coy on the prospect of a permanent transfer, stating he would wait to see what happened come the end of the season before making a decision on his future.

"In football you never know," he continued. "I am here for this season and then you never know what will be happening in a few months.
"I am looking forward to playing this year here and after, we will see."

Robinho ruled out for a month with thigh injury

    204378hp2.jpg

AC Milan has been dealt a blow with the confirmation that Robinho faces up to a month on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

The forward was replaced by Urby Emanuelson towards the end of his side's 1-0 reverse to Sampdoria on Sunday, in the opening weekend of the new Serie A season.

A statement on the Rossoneri's official website has revealed the 28-year-old suffered a strain to his right thigh, and is expected to return within the next four weeks, barring any complications.

Robinho's injury blow may have contributed to the club's late surge in transfer activity, with Bojan Krkic set to follow Giampaolo Pazzini and M'Baye Niang to San Siro before the August 31 deadline.

'Daniel Levy is a hard obstacle to overcome,' admits Giovani dos Santos' lawyer

With the transfer window nearly shutting and a bevy of teams interested in him, Giovani dos Santos' lawyer Vicente Montes has a simple explanation as to why his client has yet to leave Tottenham.

"Spurs' president [Daniel Levy] is a hard obstacle to overcome," Montes told Calciomercato. "The Modric affair confirms this."

According to Montes, Dos Santos' preferred destination is Spain, but Serie A teams have also been hot on his trail.

"Various teams have shown interest in the past. Inter Milan, Fiorentina, Milan, Genoa and Roma," Montes noted. "[Atletico Madrid] is there, but also other Spanish teams, including Sevilla, Espanyol, Granada and Malaga have asked for information."

However, Montes was quick to dispel that Inter, which was rumored to plan a swap for goalkeeper Julio Cesar, has made a concrete offer.

"In the case of Inter and Fiorentina, several clubs are interested in the player, but until now we don't have a concrete offer," he said.

Tottenham has been unwavering in its desire to cash in on Dos Santos, and with economic struggles affecting even the biggest teams in Europe, the Olympic gold medalist has been a hard sell.

"Giovani still has a contract with Tottenham. The market today lives a very difficult time," Montes told the Italian website.

Cech: Torres completely different for Chelsea this season

    205524hp2.jpg

Petr Cech has hailed the form of Chelsea teammates Fernando Torres and Eden Hazard following the duo's blistering start to the new season.

Torres has grabbed three goals in four games and looks to be showing the form which led to the Blues signing him from Liverpool for a British-record 50 million pound fee in Jan. 2011.

The Spaniard also grabbed the Euro 2012 golden boot and Cech has hailed Torres' exploits during the new campaign.

"Obviously it's a completely different story to the one when he first joined the club and you can notice the difference," the goalkeeper said to club’s official website. "He was always running and creating chances but at times he was unlucky not to score, now they are hitting the back of the net which is great.

"You can see he's enjoying the game, enjoying himself. He has the confidence, and if you have three goals in four games, as a striker, that's what's important."

The 30-year-old shot-stopper also hailed Hazard's impact on the team, and believes the Belgian has the ability to win games.

"The French league is a tough league, so it shows what a good player he is, and he's still only 21-years-old," Cech added. "It's great to have players like him coming into the club. It's tough to lose a player like Didier [Drogba], but Fernando is scoring goals again, and the likes of [Juan] Mata, Hazard and Lamps [Frank Lampard] when he's been playing, have found a quick understanding in the midfield and it's great to see.

"He can make a difference on his own, and that's what sometimes helps when you have a tight game. He takes people on and creates situations where other players can take advantage. It's very helpful when you have tough games."

Chelsea faces Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup on Friday as the club looks for its first silverware of the season.

:shocked:QPR agrees personal terms with Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar

QPR has agreed personal terms with Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar, according to Sky Italia.

The Brazil international is expected to complete the move within the next day or so but the deal faces complications, as he has two years remaining on his contract and so may be entitled to a payoff.

The 32-year old initially lost his place to understudy Luca Castellazzi last term following a series of injury problems, but despite being fit he has yet to make an appearance for the Nerazzurri in the 2012-13 season.

Hoops boss Mark Hughes has been looking to sign a goalkeeper all summer, with the departure of Paddy Kenny to Leeds leaving an unclaimed number one jersey, which was then filled by new signing Robert Green.
But Green has looked less than convincing in his first two matches in a Rangers shirt - prompting Kenny to send text messages mocking his replacement's performance to club owner Tony Fernandes and technical director Mike Rigg - and Hughes is thought to still be looking to bolster his options between the sticks.

Cesar was also linked with a move to north London with Tottenham but appears to prefer QPR, which avoided relegation on the last day of the season despite losing 3-2 to champion Manchester City.
