    Moratti: I'm happy for Pazzini

    204078hp2.jpg

Inter president Massimo Moratti has claimed he is happy to see Giampaolo Pazzini prosper, despite the from Nerazzurri striker's recent hat-trick for city rivals AC Milan.

The supremo chose to swap the 28-year-old for Antonio Cassano and 7 million euros, after a season which saw the striker find the back of the net just five times in Serie A.

However, he made an instant impact for his new club, registering a treble in Milan's 3-1 win over Bologna on Saturday, and Moratti was quick to express his delight for the forward.

"I am happy for him, I saw him play with a smile on his face," Moratti told reporters after Inter's 3-1 defeat to Roma on Sunday.

"It was like a nightmare. It is true that it was not a good advertisement for us, but [AC Milan] have found themselves a great striker and I do not mind."

Van der Vaart: I will not leave Hamburg if we get relegated, but that will not happen

    206898hp2.jpg

Rafael van der Vaart is confident that Hamburg will soon start winning, and has made it clear that he will not leave the club if they fail to avoid the drop to the 2. Bundesliga.

HSV has been struggling to find its best form in the opening weeks of the 2012-13 campaign, and is one of four teams that are still pointless after two games.

"I have signed a contract for the next three years, regardless of the competition we play in," Van der Vaart was quoted as saying by Bild.

"I do not think we will be relegated. We have a good team and I am confident that we will soon hit our stride. We will have to do it all together, though. I cannot do it all by myself.

"The team has a lot of potential. I would not have joined the club if I didn't think that."

Van der Vaart joined HSV from Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day of the summer transfer window. The Netherlands international previously played at the Bundesliga club from 2005 until 2008.

Kaka: Cristiano Ronaldo has our full support

    200229hp2.jpg

Kaka has stressed that Cristiano Ronaldo has the full support of his Real Madrid teammates in the wake of his admission that he is unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Portugal international cited 'a professional issue' as the reason behind his revelation, but the Brazilian has made it clear that he has the backing of his colleagues on the matter.

"Cristiano is a key player for Real Madrid, and he knows that he has the full support of the team," Kaka told reporters.

"The most important thing is that he is feeling well and is happy because he is very important for us. We will all support him."

Kaka was widely linked with a move away from the Spanish capital throughout the summer, only to fail to secure a move, but the 30-year-old is adamant that he will fight for his place in Jose Mourinho's first team.

"It motivates me to know that I'm one of them and I will be ready when the time comes," he enthused.

"People on the street tell me that they expect me to play, and I know that I have the support of the crowd, who have always treated me well.

He added, "The Supercopa was a demonstration that Real Madrid are ready to win titles this season. I want to play in the World Cup in Brazil. I hope to have a run here, then get back to my top level."

Ronaldo was expected to speak to the press in Portugal on Monday morning as part of a tribute to Sporting scout Aurelio Pereira, but the attacker did not show up at the event for reasons unknown as of yet.

Sergio Ramos: Modric can make a big contribution to Real Madrid

    202492hp2.jpg

Sergio Ramos has taken the time to praise Luka Modric in the aftermath of the Croatia international's La Liga debut in the 3-0 win over Granada on Sunday, and feels the influential midfielder can add a lot to Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Primera Division champions on August 27 to complete his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur, and Sergio Ramos is confident that the midfielder will make an impact at the Santiago Bernabeu side.

"Luka deserves praise for the game he had. It’s hard to make such a good impression when you arrive at the last minute," the defender was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"He has slotted in really quickly and all the players have helped him to adapt. He has shown that he is a great player and that he can make a big contribution at Real Madrid."

Modric featured for 58 minutes against Granada before making way for Mesut Ozil, after having made his Madrid debut last Wednesday in the 2-1 Spanish Supercopa win over Barcelona.

Lassana Diarra joins Anzhi on four-year deal

    141846hp2.jpg

Anzhi Makhachkala has announced that the club has completed the signing of Lassana Diarra from Real Madrid on a four-year deal.

The midfielder initially appeared to be heading to Russia on a season-long loan, but the cash-rich outfit has now confirmed that he has joined on a permanent switch, along with forward Nikita Burmistov from Amkar Perm.

"The signings of these footballers totally correspond to the strategy of our club achieving top aims," CEO Ayvaz Kaziakhmedov told the club's official website. "We are confident that, together with Lassana and Nikita, the club will fight for the most prestigious titles."

Anzhi was keen to add some more experience to the squad in order to fight for honors, and coach Guus Hiddink sees the France international as the ideal addition to his midfield.

The 27-year-old joined Madrid from Portsmouth in Jan. 2009 and quickly developed into an important first-team member at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, he has since lost his spot in the starting XI and was deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Jose Mourinho.

Diarra had also attracted the interest of AC Milan, but the Serie A side eventually opted to sign Nigel de Jong instead.

Paris Saint-Germain signs Van der Wiel from Ajax

    185161hp2.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain has announced that the club has clinched the signing of Gregory van der Wiel from Ajax for an undisclosed fee.

The Dutchman's agent, Mino Raiola, had confirmed on Friday that a deal to take the French capital was nearing completion, but stressed that personal terms had not yet been agreed..

However, PSG has been able to finalize a deal for Van der Wiel, who will wear the 23 shirt over the course of his stay at Parc des Princes.

The move also signals an end to the club's summer-long search for a right back, as coach Carlo Ancelotti was keen to build on existing option Christophe Jallet.

Van der Wiel made his Ajax debut in 2007, and went onto make 137 appearances in all competitions for the reigning Dutch champion while also becoming his country's first choice in his position.

The transfer finally ends PSG's activity in the summer transfer market, with the Parisians having already signed the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Carlo Ancelotti's side ended a run of three straight draws on Sunday thanks to a 2-1 win at Lille, and now sits in ninth place in Ligue 1, six points behind leader Olympique de Marseille.

Zenit St Petersburg signs Hulk from Porto and Axel Witsel from Benfica

    171646hp2.jpg

Zenit St Petersburg has signed Hulk from Porto and Axel Witsel from Benfica, both on five-year deals, for a reported fee of 80 million euros, according to the Russian club's website.

The 26-year-old Hulk will wear the No. 29 shirt for Luciano Spalletti's side, which currently sits top of the Russian Premier League after seven games.

Hours after announcing a deal for the Brazilian, Zenit also confirmed the signing of Belgian midfielder Witsel, who will take the No. 28 jersey.

"It's now official. Both players had signed five-year deals," Zenit spokesman Dmitry Tsimmerman was reported as saying by Rueters.

"We were trying to sign them before the Sept. 3 deadline for the Champions League so they can play for us in that competition as well as the Russian league."

Having cut his teeth in Japanese football with Kawasaki Fontale, Consadole Sapporo and Tokyo Verdy, Hulk moved to Os Dragoes in 2008 and helped the club to three league titles, three Tacas de Portugal and the UEFA Cup.

He has won 13 Brazil caps since making his debut in 2009, and was part of the Selecao'sOlympic teamthat claimed silver in London.

Witsel, meanwhile, had been heavily linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, but the former Standard Liege man, who has represented Belgium at every age group, has now made the move to Zenit.

The St Petersburg club has been drawn against AC Milan, Anderlecht and Malaga in the Champions League.

    Meireles leaves Chelsea for Fenerbahce

    149953hp2.jpg

Chelsea midfielder Raul Meireles has left the club to join Turkish oufit Fenerbahce, the club has confirmed.

A fee has not been revealed but reports say the deal could be worth around 8 million pounds, with Meireles signing a four-year deal at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

The Portugal international only made the move to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool before the transfer window closed last summer for a fee of 12 million pound.

Meireles made 42 appearances for The Blues last season and had been involved in every game at the start of this campaign, but was only used as a second half substitute in all three matches.

He has now opted to join fellow former Liverpool teammate Dirk Kuyt at the Turkish Super League club after failing to establish a regular place in central midfield ahead of preferred partnership John Obi Mikel and Frank Lampard.

Meireles was widely believed to have been unhappy after the club sacked Andre Villas-Boas, the man who brought him to London.

The arrivals of Oscar, Eden Hazard and Marko Marin only further fueled speculation he could leave the Blues, with new boss Roberto Di Matteo taking on the task of rebuilding Chelsea's squad and bringing in younger talent.

The departures of Yossi Benayoun and Michael Essien on deadline day seemed to have quashed speculation Meireles could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, but it now appears he too was considered surplus to requirements by Di Matteo.

    Ronaldo: Let me go

    56_ronaldo_1577672a.jpg

CRISTIANO RONALDO put Manchester giants City and United on red alert after admitting he wants to quit Real Madrid.

A source said: “Yes, Cristiano told president Florentino Perez he wants to leave the club.”

It follows the Portugal superstar’s bombshell on Sunday after scoring twice against Granada. Ronaldo, 27, did not celebrate either of his goals and said afterwards: “I am sad and the people at the club know about it. “It’s about professional issues. I can’t say any more.”

Megabucks City and his old club United will keep a close eye on developments – along with Chelsea.

    Liverpool end Owen interest

    michaelowenface20120613_576x324.jpg

Liverpool informed ESPN on Tuesday that they are no longer pursuing a move to bring Michael Owen back to Anfield.

Liverpool, though, denied that a combination of the owners' insistence on Monday that there are "no short-term quick fixes" for the club and a possible backlash from some Liverpool fans were behind the U-turn.

Rodgers did give some thought to a move for Owen, and it is understood that talks took place with the striker's advisors, but Liverpool have cooled on the idea of bringing in any free agents to bolster a depleted front line.

It follows their failure to buy Clint Dempsey after seeing a £3 million deadline-day offer rejected out of hand, with Liverpool clearly not wishing to sign a player approaching 30 for any kind of sizeable fee. There was also a failed move to acquire Daniel Sturridge on loan as Chelsea failed to bring in a replacement.

A Liverpool source told ESPN: "To be fair to Brendan he was asked at a press conference whether he would consider Michael Owen and he said he would consider everybody. He didn't slap it down. However, the next day, the media virtually suggested the club were signing Owen.
"Having given the issue some thought, for the moment, the club are not bringing anyone in. There is no one on the agenda although, of course, that could change, but there is nothing doing at the moment."

Owen's options are rapidly dwindling. Stoke have told ESPN that they felt that demands of £1.5 million for a two-year deal was excessive, while Sunderland's interest has cooled and West Ham have told ESPN that they have used all of their transfer budget.A Stoke source said: "We cannot afford Manchester United- or Liverpool-style wages, not even on a structured deal."

Owen is willing to take a considerable pay-cut for the chance to resume his career and those closest to the forward have told ESPN that the 32-year-old still has a burning desire to play at the highest level and is not simply motivated by money."Michael wants to go to a club where he can get more game time, he wants to play and wants a club that gives him the best chance of playing," a source said.

Owen has suggested he will announce his new club on Wednesday.

    Ronaldo reasons remain unclear

    Cristiano-Ronaldo-Real-Madrid_2822555.jpg

Cristiano Ronaldo's agent claims to be fully aware of the reasons for the Portuguese superstar's sadness at Real Madrid but is refusing to give anything away.

The forward has reportedly told Bernabeu officials he wants to quit the club amid a flurry of stories which have suggested a meeting took place over the weekend regarding the subject.Ronaldo on Sunday publicly admitted he was unhappy after he had declined to celebrate scoring twice in the win over Granada. The behaviour has led to mass speculation about a bust-up within the Real squad or an apparent desire from the 27-year-old for a new contract.

    Downbeat

"I am aware of the reasons behind Ronaldo's words and it is up to him to disclose them or not," Mendes wrote in a statement on the website of his company, Gestifute.

He added: "I am not surprise by them and they cause me no discomfort. Those who know my relationship with Ronaldo know he will always count on my total solidarity."

Ronaldo, who last season scored 46 league goals as the title was won, has had a relatively quiet start to the new campaign and also looked below par in Real's opening La Liga draw against Valencia and in their shock 2-1 defeat at Getafe. On Wednesday, he scored the winner against Barcelona in their Spanish Super Cup second leg but was on Sunday pointedly serious and downbeat after netting his goals against Granada.
