Brazil 2-2 England: Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rooney on target at the Maracana

    285314hp2.jpg

England recorded an unlikely draw against Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, as Roy Hodgson's side battled from a goal down to take the lead before Paulinho sent the iconic Maracana Stadium into raptures with a late leveler.

The Selecao had to wait until the second half to score despite dominating the early exchanges, with Fred tucking the ball into the net after Hernanes had hit the bar. But England responded through substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's stinging volley.

Wayne Rooney, somewhat against the run of play, then gave the Three Lions an unexpected lead with a driving run and long-range finish, before Paulinho acrobatically volleyed an equalizer just minutes later.

Luiz Felipe Scolari selected a trio of Premier League stars, QPR's Julio Cesar and Chelsea duo Oscar and David Luiz, while Barcelona new boy Neymar started in attack alongside Hulk, Oscar and spearhead Fred.

England made three changes from the side that drew 1-1 against the Republic of Ireland, with Leighton Baines, James Milner and Phil Jones coming into the side. Theo Walcott remained on the right wing, despite suggestions he could start up front, as Hodgson opted for 4-5-1.

Brazil looked the more dangerous side from the very first whistle, hurtling forward in a yellow blur of one-touch passes and silky stepovers, while England scrambled back to defend en masse.

Brazil almost opened the scoring when Dani found soon-to-be Barca teammate Neymar at the back post. The 21-year-old evaded Glen Johnson but his attempted dink from an acute angle was buffeted away by the massive frame of Hart.

Neymar, looking every inch as exciting as the past legends that had wowed at the Maracana, was beginning to enjoy himself. A drag-back on the edge of the box created a yard of space, but his placed shot curled just wide.

Hart was quickly becoming England's most active player, forced into a frantic triple save, pouncing on loose balls, before parrying Oscar's well-struck attempt – if England looked to be wilting in the Brazilian sun, the Manchester City goalkeeper was proving his worth.

Oscar, elusive and inventive down the right, fizzed in a cross to the near post which was back-heeled towards goal by Hulk. For a moment Hart looked beaten, but the ball trickled inches wide.

In the 40th minute, England, finally, fashioned a chance of its own. A quick counter saw Johnson drive infield, sliding a pass behind the Brazil defense for Walcott, but the Arsenal man's shot, though powerful, was straight at Cesar.

England, perhaps having been rollicked at halftime, improved after the break; it was more patient on the ball and less open at the back. But just as it was assuming some semblance of parity, the Canarinhos struck.

Lazio midfielder Hernanes, having replaced Luiz Gustavo, picked up the ball deep and floated an arching shot towards goal which drifted beyond the reach of Hart and onto the crossbar. Fred reacted quickest to the rebounded, slotting into the net as Hart scrambled back across his line in vain.

England responded well, though, with Rooney heading off target after Milner's rasping drive had been deflected just wide.

Then, a moment of magic. Oxlade-Chamberlain, a second-half substitute, darted infield. Rooney returned a pass to the 19-year-old, who pinged a snap-shot volley towards goal from the edge of the box that curled wickedly inside the near post with Cesar motionless.

As Brazil looked to restore its lead, England began to find space on the break. With barely 10 minutes remaining, Rooney picked up the ball and drove towards goal. The yellow shirts backed off until the 27-year-old opened up his body and curled a shot towards goal which looped off Fernando and nestled in the goal.

But the Maracana was only silent for a moment, as Brazil flooded forward in search of a response. Lucas Moura darted down the right, engineering space to whip in a cross that deflected into the path of Paulinho. The Corinthians midfielder adjusted his body and lashed the ball into the bottom corner to claim a draw for the home side.

USA 4-3 Germany: Altidore snaps drought as Klinsmann's USA tops Germany

    285297hp2.jpg

WASHINGTON -- Jozy Altidore's drought is over, and the U.S. men's national team has a boatload of momentum heading into three vital World Cup qualifiers later this month.

Altidore's first-half goal -- his first for the USA in 19 months -- set the tone for a 4-3 win over Germany in the Centennial Celebration match in front of 47,359 at RFK Stadium on Sunday. Clint Dempsey scored two goals in the second half to put away the result, as the Americans beat Germany for the first time since the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Altidore broke his drought in the 13th minute, hitting a wondrous first-time volley off a cross from Graham Zusi. He had not scored in the run of play for the USA since June 2011, and it was his first international goal since a penalty kick against Slovenia in November 2011.

Four minutes later, the Americans were gifted a goal, as German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen failed to handle Benedikt Howedes' backpass and allowed the ball to creep into the low left corner of his goal.

Miroslav Klose entered the match a goal behind Gerd Muller's German record of 68 international goals, and he nearly brought Germany within 2-1 in the 24th minute. He split the U.S. center backs and finished past goalkeeper Tim Howard, but he was judged to be offside.

Per Mertesacker had an earlier chance to open the scoring, but the Arsenal defender fluffed his chance from close range. Germany got on the board in the 52nd minute, though, with Heiko Westermann heading home Max Kruse's corner kick. The Hamburg defender gained separation from Omar Gonzalez and connected for a clean header to slice the deficit in half.

Clint Dempsey restored the two-goal edge in the 60th minute, blasting home an effort off a cross from Altidore. The forward latched onto a long ball from Jermaine Jones, taking it down off his chest. Even though his touch took him away from goal, he remained patient and spotted both Michael Bradley and Dempsey in the box. The Tottenham attacker made no mistake with his first-time hit to make it 3-1.

"I think today we set the tone from right from the beginning," Klinsmann said. "We pressured them high. We made it very difficult for them to play out of the back, which is what they like to do, and we were right there on their toes. This is what we need to do every game. Every game we need to win battles, and you have to move off the ball and create something. There was a pace and understanding to our game.”

Dempsey added his second in spectacular fashion minutes later, as he put a perfectly placed left-footed hit from long range past ter Stegen to bring the capacity crowd to a fever pitch. Even though Kruse's vicious right-footed strike and Draxler's opportunistic tap-in brought Germany within 4-3, the USA saw out the victory, ensuring that U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann defeated his former national side and assistant coach, Germany manager Joachim Low.

“We’re happy with the win, but at the same time we expect a lot out of ourselves," Dempsey said. "We’re not happy with conceding the amount of goals that we’ve conceded in these two games. It needs to be better. Even though we’re playing against top quality, we need to do a better job of protecting our keeper. At the same time, we’re happy with the result in the sense of winning and we take confidence from beating a good team.”

Of note in the U.S. lineup was that Seattle Sounders midfielder Brad Evans was handed the start at right back, and he more than held his own in providing service down the right flank while marking up Lukas Podolski. Fabian Johnson moved into an advanced winger role and played the first half before coming off in favor of Brad Davis.

Neymar: Ronaldo, Kaka & Marcelo tried to convince me to join Madrid

    284184_heroa.jpg

The Brazilian listened to his family over his peers to decide to join Barcelona and says the prospect of playing alongside Lionel Messi is an honor.Neymar has revealed that the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Marcelo tried unsuccessfully to convince him to join Real Madrid over Barcelona this summer.

The 21-year-old Santos star opted to join the Catalan club over the capital-based Liga giant in May having chosen to listen to the advice of his family instead of his fellow players.

"Ronaldo, Kaka, Marcelo... Lots of people said I should sign for Real," Neymar told Marca. "But, in the end, I made a decision, which I discussed a lot with my family, and I'm very happy with the path I've chosen to play in Europe."

Neymar also reiterated his excitement at the move to Camp Nou, where he will try to adapt quickly, saying it would be a privilege to play alongside four-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

"I'll try to adapt to my new team as soon as possible so I can play at my top level from the start," Neymar said. "It's an honor to be able to play with Messi. I'm very happy. It's all very special."

Neymar is expected to feature in Brazil's friendly with England on Sunday.

Mourinho and Chelsea can rule England again, insists Robben

    285179_heroa.jpg

The Dutchman believes that Jose Mourinho can recapture former glory in West London with the right backing from Roman Abramovich, and is not surprised Frank Lampard is staying.Arjen Robben believes Jose Mourinho and Chelsea can once again rule English football, once the Portuguese boss completes his imminent return to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho won back-to-back Premier League titles, a League Cup and an FA Cup in three years with Chelsea, and Robben, who was with the club during that period, insists that with the right backing from owner Roman Abramovich, the Special One can re-establish the Blues as the dominant force in the Premier League.

“It is a big move for Chelsea with Jose coming back – but I know it is one the fans will welcome,” Robben told reporters. “He had very successful years at Chelsea – and he can have them again. The thing about Jose is that he will win at any cost – he doesn’t care how, he just wants to win.

“I’ve not always been supportive of the style of football he plays, but he is a winner who has achieved great success.

“I am sure that with some big signings from the owner that Jose and Chelsea can rule England again.”

Robben is also unsurprised by the fact that Frank Lampard has committed himself to one more year at Stamford Bridge after lengthy contract negotiations. Lampard had been heavily linked with a summer move to MLS and the LA Galaxy.

“It is no surprise to me that Frank is now staying,” Robben said. “It can not be for football reasons that he was going – because he is still one of the best – it must have been a personal thing with the old coach.

“As soon as it became clear Jose would return, there was never any chance Frank would go, because there is such respect and friendship between the two of them.

“He sent me a text after we won the final – that is the sort of classy guy Frank is.”

Florentino Perez re-elected as Real Madrid president

    274065_heroa.jpg

The 66-year-old Perez will serve another four years as Los Blancos chief after he remained unopposed for the position as the deadline for further nominations passed.Florentino Perez has been re-elected as president of Real Madrid after a meeting of the club's electoral board in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The nomination process ended on midnight on Saturday when the deadline for candidacy submissions passed without any bids to rival that of Perez. Consequently, the 66-year-old Spaniard was automatically confirmed as president in an announcement from the Real Madrid Electoral Board, which was posted on the club's official website.

"In Madrid, on June 2, 2013, at 00:01 hours, at the headquarters of the Electoral Board of the Real Madrid Football Club, directors met in order to try and decide the matters listed below [that of the presidency]," the statement reads. "Having no more than one bid submitted to the Board, under Article 40, paragraph E, Section 2 of the current By-Laws of the Club, Florentino Perez was proclaimed President of Real Madrid."

Perez first took the presidency in 2000, and, save for a three-year period that the club was under Ramon Calderon, has held the post ever since. The investiture ceremony confirming Perez as club president will be held on Tuesday the Royal Box at Santiago Bernabeu.

Bale can't turn down Real Madrid or Barcelona, insists McManaman

    275881_heroa.jpg

The former Liverpool and Real Madrid star insists the flying Welshman has to test himself against the very best in the world, as speculation mounts about his future.
Gareth Bale cannot afford to turn down an approach from Real Madrid or Barcelona if he wants to reach his full potential, according to former Blancos star Steve McManaman.

Speculation is mounting over the future of the flying Welshman after a phenomenal season that saw him notch 31 goals for club and country and scoop both the FWA Footballer and PFA Player of the Year awards and PFA Young Player of the Year honors.

"If he ever has the opportunity to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona I would never say ‘no’ to them," McManaman told reporters. "I think sooner or later, whether it’s this year or next year, he needs to be playing against the best people in the world.

"He needs to be testing himself against the best players in the world because he is arguably one of the best players in the world on current form."

Bale's agent has revealed his client would consider an offer from Madrid, whose president Florentino Perez recently declared the Tottenham star was "born to play" at Santiago Bernabeu.

"Sooner rather than later he’ll want to be playing in the Champions League and if Tottenham can’t deliver that this year I think they’re going to struggle to hold on to him," McManaman added. "But it all depends on whether he’s comfortable in London, whether he wants to play abroad and whether he fancies the challenge abroad.

"He’s 23 at the moment, he’s still very young and he’s a new father – he has got time on his side.

"But it all depends on what he wants to do doesn’t it?"

    Valdes absence irrelevant, says Vilanova

The goalkeeper didn't feature in the club's final game of the season as his coach is certain he will play again next term.Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova says Victor Valdes did not participate in the 4-1 victory against Malaga on Saturday because he would be staying with the club beyond the summer.

The 31-year-old announced his intention to see out his contract on Friday, although he maintained he would leave Camp Nou once it expired in 2014.

Jose Pinto was handed a rare start between the posts instead, and Vilanova stated that Valdes being given a rest was not an issue as the goalkeeper will play for the club again next season.

"During the week I talked to him several times and we agreed he wouldn't play today because we were made to understand it wouldn't be his last game for us," the trainer told reporters after the match.

"What I want is for him to have the goal well covered, and I'll be happy. But if he sees another opportunity to play for another team, I'll still be happy.

"It [his future] is his decision, not mine. Victor explained sufficiently. I see the situation quite clearly. He said he has no problems staying, and so I have no problems continuing."

Thiago Alcantara is another player who has recently been the subject of transfer speculation, but Vilanova reaffirmed his faith in the midfield starlet.

He added: "Yesterday I was wrong to say he was the club's future, because he is also the present. I have all the confidence, and so should he, in competing with the players that have been the best in the position for the past five years.

"Overall, our campaign was very good, from the first day to the last day of the league, with 100 points attained and 115 goals scored."

The Catalans equaled Real Madrid's record haul of points on the way to being crowned Spanish champions this season.

Blatter: 'Neymar will shine at Confederations Cup'

    273204_heroa.jpg

The FIFA president has backed Barcelona's latest recruit to "flourish" in the tournament, which begins on June 15 Sepp Blatter has described Brazil striker Neymar as an "exceptional player" whose talent will come to the fore during his country's Confederations Cup campaign.

The 21-year-old has been the subject of much scrutiny after completing his long-awaited move to Barcelona last week.

And with the former Santos forward set to star in the dress rehearsal for World Cup 2014 this summer, Blatter believes the competition will serve as the perfect platform for the striker to showcase his talent.

"Neymar is an exceptional player. The Confederations Cup is the ideal stage for him to flourish," the FIFA president said to O Estado de Sao Paulo.

"He has everything in his own hands and now he just needs to show the world what he's capable of."

Neymar played the full 90 minutes of Brazil's 2-2 draw with England on Sunday evening and showed glimpses of his ability in a bright opening 45 minutes before fading after the break.

Selecao will kick off their Confederations Cup campaign on June 15 by hosting Japan at the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia.

:yes:Robson hopes Rooney 'sees sense' and stays at Manchester United

    264187_heroa.jpg

The former Red Devils captain believes the want-away England international has an important part to play under new manager David Moyes at Old Trafford next season.Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson hopes Wayne Rooney "sees sense" and decides to stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer transfer window.

Rooney was left out of Sir Alex Ferguson's squads for the last two matches of the Premier League season having asked to leave the club.

"There was a bit of a problem towards the end of the season with Wayne and Sir Alex, but I just hope Wayne sees sense," Robson told Sky Sports.

Robson believes there is nowhere better for the England striker to go and is convinced he would play an important part for the English champions under David Moyes.

"There's no better club than this club and if David Moyes does say that he wants Wayne to stay, I'd love to see him playing for Manchester United again next season because he's a great player," he said.

"He's a real asset to the club and I'd like to see him stay for many more years."

Beckham tours Miami locations for possible MLS franchise

    281028_heroa.jpg

The recently retired English superstar toured Miami stadiums as possible locations for a future MLS team.David Beckham toured Sun Life Stadium and the football stadium at Florida International University in Miami, looking at both as the possible home of a future MLS franchise in Florida should he elect to act on his option to return to MLS as an owner.

"I think Miami fans are very passionate about their sports and very passionate about winning," Beckham told reporters according to the Press Association. "It's definitely exciting."

Sun Life Stadium is home to the NFL's Miami Dolphins and has a capacity of more than 75,000. FIU's football stadium holds 20,000 people, which is a number more in line with most soccer-specific stadiums in MLS.

Jose Sotolongo, the executive director of the Miami-Dade Sports Commission, was among the locals to meet with Beckham along Mayor Carlos Gimenez and commissioner Jose 'Pepe' Diaz, and Sotolongo is convinced that the city would back a new franchise. MLS was home to the Miami Fusion from 1998-2001 before the franchise folded. Miami has since become a regular home for international club friendlies and will be one the main sites for this summer's International Champions Cup.

"We know that our community can support not only the international soccer (friendlies) that have been coming to Miami for a while now, but that it would support an MLS franchise," Sotolongo told Reuters. "The city of Miami has a very international fan base and a very soccer savvy fan base. This is the kind of ownership group that would electrify the community and hopefully we will get good news."

    Damiao open to Tottenham move

    262577_heroa.jpg

The striker believes his next club must match his own ambitions and says he is aware of the interest from Andre Villas-Boas' side.Internacional striker Leandro Damiao insists he is still open to a move to Tottenham despite the club's failure to secure Champions League football.

The 23-year-old has been one of Tottenham's long-term transfer targets, while Internacional's president, Giovanni Luigi, revealed last month that talks have been ongoing between the two clubs regarding the Brazil international.

Andre Villas-Boas' side missed out on a top-four place to Arsenal on the final day of last season, and while Damiao admits he would prefer to play in the Champions League, other factors will determine which club he plays for next.

“I know of Tottenham’s interest in me but I am happy to wait until the president of my club lets me know something official,” Damiao told reporters.

“I would prefer to play in a team that is in the Champions League, but the most important thing is that they share the same ambition that I have.”

Simeone: Falcao's feats difficult to top
    283802_heroa.jpg

The Atletico Madrid coach has admitted that it will be hard to replace the Colombian striker, who moved from the Spanish capital to Monaco last week.
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says Radamel Falcao will be sorely missed by his side next season following his move to Monaco.

The striker netted 28 goals in 34 Liga appearances last season, helping the club to a Champions League place, and Simoene has admitted that finding a suitable successor could be nearly impossible.

"Radamel's achievements are incredibly difficult to top," Simeone told Marca. "I don't know if we're going to lose out in his absence. The statistics are irrefutable and Falcao's are extraordinary.

"I would love another forward to be able to come in and get anywhere close to that."

The capital outfit, however, is looking to bolster up their squad not only up front, but in all positions.

"In defense we'll be looking for a player to give us a greater level of competition, the same in midfield and in attack as well. We need players in all three areas," Simeone said.

    Blaszczykowski seals new Dortmund deal

The Poland star has put pen to paper on a new contract at the Westfalenstadion, which will keep him at the club for another five years.Borussia Dortmund winger Jakub Blaszczykowski has extended his contract with the club for five years, keeping him at Signal Iduna Park until June 2018.

The Poland skipper scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists during 27 Bundesliga appearances this season, and sporting director Michael Zorc is delighted that he decided to commit to the club, especially considering the likes of Mario Gotze has left for Bayern Munich and Robert Lewandowski could be following him there.

"With his character and quality on the pitch, Kuba is an important asset for our team," Zorc told the club's official website. "He has made quite a splash around Europe last season. We are happy that we can plan with him on a long-term basis for the future."

Meanwhile, Kuba himself has voiced his pleasure at signing a new deal, saying the city has become like a home to him.

"By now, Dortmund is like a second home to me. When my contract expires, I'll be able to look back on 10 years at BVB," Blaszczykowski said. "I'm very, very proud that a top-class side like Borussia Dortmund have so much trust in me."

Fred: Brazil is on the right track

    285381_heroa.jpg

The Brazilan striker believes that the Pentacampeoes are heading in the right direction despite only managing a 2-2 draw against the Three Lions on their own turf Fred believes that Brazil is on the right track despite recording a disappointing 2-2 draw with England at the Maracana on Sunday.

The Fluminense forward opened the scoring for the Selecao only to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wayne Rooney turn the game on its head before a late Paulinho volley ensured the meeting ended even.

"We created many opportunities. Unfortunately the ball did not want to go in," he told reporters. "Unfortunately it was not the result we expected, but we left with the feeling that we gave up, especially in the first half. It bothers some, but you can take the good points form the game.

"I think we deserved a win, especially for the opportunities we created in the first half. We had more than seven, six chances but unfortunately the ball did not go in the goal. We were able to maintain this pace of attack from start to finish. This reassures us and makes it clear that we are on the right track."

Meanwhile, Hernanes believes that his side was far better than England, which had to rely on breakaway chances to score.

"We played a good match; England defended very well throughout the game and took advantage of a counter-attack," he told TV Globo.

"The team have to be a little bit more careful not to concede these goals because the team was playing well, we know that in a competition it is important not to concede these types of goals if we want to be champions."

Gotze set to miss start of 2013-14 season

    283220_heroa.jpg

he 20-year-old is expected to sit out his first games at Bayern Munich as he continues to suffer from a thigh problem he picked up against Real Madrid.Mario Gotze is in danger of missing the start of next season ahead of his move to Bayern Munich due to a long-standing thigh problem.

The youngster, who signed for the Bavarian giants from Borussia Dortmund for a fee in the region of 37 million euros, had picked up a thigh problem during BVB's second-leg Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid.

He was initially hopeful of making the final of the competition but later suffered a relapse of the injury and it now seems he has picked up a rupture of the muscle.

It looks like he will not recover in time to join his new club in its season preparations for the 2013-14 campaign under new coach Pep Guardiola.

During his time at the Signal Iduna Park, Gotze emerged into one of Jurgen Klopp's key players, helping die Schwarzgelben to their 2010-11 and 2011-12 Bundesliga titles as well as the 2012 DFB-Pokal.

He scored 16 goals and set up 15 more during the course of the 2012-13 campaign as BVB finished as runner up in the Bundesliga and the Champions League, both to Bayern.

The Bayern president says that the 68-year-old is leaving the club in the best state imaginable after leading it to the first-ever treble in German football Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has lavished praise upon coach Jupp Heynckes following the club's historic 2012-13 campaign.

Borussia Dortmund had beaten the Bavarians to the previous two Bundesliga titles but the Gladbach legend ended his two-year reign in charge of the club by claiming an unprecedented treble.

He will be replaced in the summer by former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola but Hoeness will remember his contribution to the club.

"Jupp did a sensational job," the 61-year-old told Kicker. "If I had painted a picture of this club 20 years ago, I'd have painted it exactly how Bayern present themselves today.

"We're at the top now, the trick will be to stay there."

Heynckes has been strongly linked with the Real Madrid job and is set to make an announcement concerning his future on Tuesday.

Lars Bender unfazed by failed Bayern move

    255828_heroa.jpg

The 24-year-old was close to a switch to the Allianz Arena last summer only for the transfer to fall through, but the player is refusing to dwell on it.Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender is unfazed by his failed move to Bayern Munich during the 2012 summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who has a contract at the BayArena until 2017, was on the verge of signing for the Bavarian giant last year, but eventually opted to remain with die Werkself instead.

"My employer is Bayer Leverkusen," the 24-year-old told Express. "When it was clear that the deal was about to collapse, I accepted the situation. That was fine with me.

"I have a contract until 2017 and feel very comfortable at Bayer. We've played good football. Generally, I don't look back and rather focus on the future."

Leverkusen finished third in the 2012-13 campaign, securing a Champions League spot after a one-year absence from the competition, and Bender is looking forward to the challenge.

"We have a tough season ahead of us with the Champions League," he said. "It's great that we will participate. We have achieved more than it was expected from us.

"Of course, we would like to end up in a similar position next season, which will be difficult."

Moratti not looking for Inter sale

    252882_heroa.jpg

The Nerazzurri president has insisted that he is not looking to sell the club despite admitting talks with Indonesian businessman Erich Thobir Inter president Massimo Moratti has denied speculation that he is in talks to sell the Serie A club.

Recent reports have suggested that Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir is negotiating a multimillion dollar buyout of the club but the 68-year-old says talks are concerning something entirely different.

“I think there are too many rumors around,” the 68-year-old told the club's official website. “I read these and usually 90 percent of what's reported is untrue.

“Selling a majority of the club? No, no, we're discussing something entirely different. It's not decisive. It will be if Inter stand to gain substantially from it, if the club don't, then we'll leave it."

He added, "As I've said, I've read a lot in the papers that I don't believe, in reality, is true. But I don’t think the next few days will be key.”

Zorc: De Bruyne only wants Dortmund

    266391_heroa.jpg

The midfielder has been linked with a number of Bundesliga sides, but the Champions League runner up is confident of getting its man.Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has claimed that Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has set his sights on a move to Signal Iduna Park.

The Belgium international has also caught the attention of Bayer Leverkusen, with CEO Wolfgang Holzhauser revealing last month that the versatile midfielder is set to join Bayer Leverkusen on a one-year loan move as part of the deal that will see Andre Schurrle move to Chelsea.

However, Zorc has insisted that the 21-year-old is not interested in a move to the BayArena as he wants BVB instead.

"De Bruyne only wants to join Dortmund," Zorc told Kicker.

The young midfielder joined Chelsea from Genk in January 2012, but has yet to make his first official appearance for the Europa League winners.

He was initially farmed out on loan back to Genk, before moving to Werder Bremen on a temporary basis for the 2012-13 campaign.

De Bruyne has a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2017.

:love:Mata: Spain enjoying its best period ever

    228737_heroa.jpg

The creative forward is eagerly anticipating this summer's Confederations Cup and feels la Roja have been on top of their game for a number of years now Chelsea star Juan Mata feels Spain is going through its best period ever and is proud that opponents are extremely motivated to knock la Roja off their perch.

Vicente del Bosque's men are the reigning European and world champions and Mata is pleased with the way they have dominated football in recent years.

"Spain are enjoying the greatest period in their footballing history and, of course, our opponents want to knock us off our perch," Mata told FIFA.com. "But it makes us feel proud when we experience this, that playing against us is seen as special.

"One of the lads said that a clubmate of his, ahead of a friendly match against their national team, asked him to tell us not to go all-out against them, because we were playing really well."

The gifted attacker then looked ahead to this summer's Confederations Cup and stressed that Spain is determined to emerge victorious in Brazil.

"We’ll get to see what the stadiums are like, have a taste of the atmosphere – which I’m sure will be great, and also start preparing for next year’s World Cup," Mata explained. "When you’re going to play in Brazil, the Maracana always comes to mind. It’d be fantastic if we could reach the final there and win it."

Spain meets Uruguay, Nigeria and Tahiti in the group stages of this summer's competition.
