I don't want to leave Chelsea on loan - Brown

    isaiah-brown-chelsea_1278bgrdu2m471tj44zrbz27h9.jpg

Isaiah Brown insists he has no intention of leaving Chelsea on loan next season, having forced his way into the first-team picture in 2014-15.

Brown made his senior debut for the Blues on Monday, as he played 11 minutes of the 3-0 defeat to his former club West Brom at the Hawthorns.

Chelsea currently have over 20 players out on loan – including the likes of Patrick Bamford, Christian Atsu and Tomas Kalas – but Brown says he would prefer to develop with the Blues next season, as opposed to joining a club on a short-term basis.

"It is a hard balance, but if you're training with the best players in the world and learning from the best manager in the world, what more can you ask for?" he told the London Evening Standard.

"That's maybe more development for me than going to play in the Championship.

"What happens next season all depends how pre-season goes. We will have a sit down and talk about it and see where my future is. But long-term, it is definitely at Chelsea."

Brown left West Brom in controversial circumstances in 2013 and was booed during his Blues bow, but he says he has no regrets over his move to Stamford Bridge, because he was a boyhood Blues fan.

"Some people don't understand, but ever since I was a kid I have been a Chelsea fan. I grew up watching Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Gianfranco Zola and I had videos of every season," he added.

"My dream was always to play for Chelsea so when the chance came, I couldn't say no. It had nothing to do with the money. I love Chelsea and I love playing for the club I supported."

David Luiz vows to abstain from sex before marriage

    david-luiz-chelsea-psg-paris-saint-germain-champions-league_1vxaj1mmsr8881guinqb2y6f2p.jpg

David Luiz has vowed to abstain from having sex before he is married after being baptised last week.

The Paris Saint-Germain defender was baptised into the Pentecostal Hillsong Church after a small ceremony at team-mate Maxwell's private swimming pool.
The Brazil international posted a picture on Instagram with the message "I have chosen to wait" shortly afterwards.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)" Luiz's post began, quoting a passage from the Bible.

He then added: "How wonderful to live with you Lord, thank You for loving me so much and take care of me! My life is yours, and I am your servant! What 're always in the center of all my decisions! I love my God! Amen"

Former AC Milan star and Ballon d'Or winner Kaka made the same vow prior to his own wedding at the age of 23.

"The majority of people say that, after marriage, they don't like jumping into bed with their partner because there is no desire. However, this is not true, my wife is the person I love and it was worth waiting," Kaka said.

"I think people need to prevent themselves from making love before marriage. Of course, everyone has their own opinions but I think it was worth the wait."

Van Gaal: Manchester United fans must be patient with Depay

    memphis-depay-psv_1ddrbnvzwg5dz1uxlt741s15l6.jpg

Louis van Gaal has urged Manchester United fans to be patient with new signing Memphis Depay when he joins the club this summer.

United have agreed a deal to sign the Netherlands international from PSV, with Depay completing a medical in Manchester on Monday.

But Van Gaal has warned supporters that the 21-year-old will need time to adapt to life in the Premier League, and also says that he intends to continue blooding young players in the starting XI next season.

"Memphis Depay [is] a young player who has come through the PSV academy system," Van Gaal wrote in the United Review.

"I worked with Memphis during last summer's World Cup with the Netherlands and he has great potential.

"The plan is to help him develop as a player, but we must all be patient. The Premier League is very different from any other league and it will take time for him to fully adapt to the pace and unforgiving nature of football in this country.'

"Youth is very important to this club and is a very big part of my philosophy as a manager.

"We have a number of young players in our first-team squad who have benefitted from experiencing first-team football this season and that will help their development going into next season."

Depay has scored 28 goals in 2014-15, and won the Johan Cruyff Trophy for the best young player in the Eredivisie on Tuesday.

Guardiola is the right man for Bayern, insists Ballack

    pep-guardiola-bayern-munchen-schalke-04-bundesliga-03022015_7ufsdod8fpr61jqh1k8qcwq9l.jpg

Pep Guardiola unquestionably remains the right man for Bayern Munich, according to former midfielder Michael Ballack.

With his contract at the Allianz Arena set to expire next season, Guardiola's future remains the subject of speculation despite his insistence he will stay at the club for at least another season.

Bayern's defeats in the semi-finals of the Champions League and DFB-Pokal have increased the scrutiny on the former Barcelona boss' tenure, with Manchester City heavily linked as potential suitors.

Ballack, however, is adamant that Guardiola is the best man for the job in Munich, telling SID: "Pep's footballing expertise is indisputable. He is a top coach and, in my opinion, the right person for Bayern."

Former Germany international Ballack, who spent four years with Bayern, says criticism of the team this season has been unfair and has called for some perspective on their achievements."I know that from my time when we were 'only' Bundesliga champions," he said when asked if some fans were complaining too much.

"They played excellent football for long stretches of the season. As the championship was over, it was clear they lost some drive. But that's always the danger with top teams like them.

"At the moment there is a lot of complaining. Everybody should get some perspective, especially as they were eliminated from the Champions League by very good opponents, probably the favourites. Bayern's foundation for the next few years is magnificent."

Cech open to Arsenal, Manchester United and PSG, says agent

    petr-cech_1wnxoadcekxt6141vyfzlzesnx.jpg

Petr Cech would be interested in joining Arsenal, Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to his agent.

The Chelsea goalkeeper has been relegated to a No.2 role this season due to Thibaut Courtois' emergence in west London, and his representative, Viktor Kolar, has previously stated that the Blues have given his client permission to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Arsenal have long been linked with a move for the Czech Republic international, while United are understood to have identified Cech as a potential replacement for David De Gea, should he join Real Madrid.

And Kolar says his client would welcome such moves, while hinting that Blues boss Jose Mourinho will not have the final say on the goalkeeper's future.

"Arsenal, United or PSG are all top clubs and Petr would like to join one of them – definitely," Kolar told Sport.

"Petr expects that (owner) Roman Abramovich, not Mourinho, will decide about his future, based on their mutual agreement from last year."

Cech has made just six Premier League appearances this season.

Xavi is beyond words - Iniesta

    xavi-andres-iniesta-barcelona-17052015_tpmwyrq6fksm1ive9yf5bjh0h.jpg

Andres Iniesta says there are no words to describe the legacy of Barcelona team-mate Xavi.

The 35-year-old has won eight Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, two European Championships and the World Cup in a startling career for Barca and Spain.

Xavi is set to announce on Thursday that he will leave Camp Nou for Qatar at the end of the season, after Barca's Copa del Rey and Champions League final duties.
And Iniesta, who has enjoyed remarkable success for club and country alongside Xavi, says he has been privileged to play in the same midfield.

"There's no one who represents what he does as a person and a player. The stats, the years, the feelings, his way of doing this are beyond words," Iniesta said at a fan Q&A event.

"He's a unique player. He's been essential to this club and the national team. It's a real pleasure and a privilege to have spent my career at his side."
Barca clinched the Liga title at the weekend with a 1-0 win at last season's champions Atletico Madrid, and Iniesta feels the team's rapid progress in 2015 is now becoming clear.

"We celebrated as we played. To win the league is very important for us and our fans. The team has been growing and surpassing itself," he said.

"We're in a very good moment. We're on the brink of the treble."
The 31-year-old also admitted he is now considering the prospect of turning to coaching after his playing career, despite having previously discounted the idea.

"Three or four years ago I didn't think about it. We'll see what happens in the future. At the moment, we'll enjoy the present," he said.

Klopp would suit Premier League, says Ballack

    jurgen-klopp-bayern-munich-borussi-dortmund-semifinal-germany-cup-28042015_x8rlrsa0u1zb14fee24t63qie.jpg

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack believes Jurgen Klopp would be suited to a role in the Premier League after leaving Borussia Dortmund.

Klopp is set to leave the Bundesliga outfit at the end of the season and has been heavily linked with both Liverpool and Manchester City.

And Ballack feels Klopp's open-mindedness and grasp of the English language means it would make sense for him to take a job in England.

"There is that speculation and it would fit for him to go to England someday," he told SID.

"He coached one of the best clubs in Germany. He is an open-minded coach, who gets appreciation on an international basis for his success and the way he coaches.

"Plus, he speaks English. There are signs that it will happen."

During his own time in England, Ballack was part of the Chelsea side that lost to Manchester United in the Champions League final of 2008.

But since that all-Premier League final the performances of British sides in the competition have declined, culminating in a quarter-final line-up in 2014-15 devoid of any sides from England's top-flight.

And former Germany captain Ballack is hopeful the current situation surrounding English clubs in Europe does not last long as he believes they are not far behind the likes of Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

"I hope this is just a moment, because I am still linked intensively to English football. Yet I think this reflects the current situation pretty well," he added.

"Clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and the two clubs from Manchester are not that far behind Barcelona, Bayern or Real [Madrid], who manage to get into the semi-finals regularly.

"This is where the English have to improve. They have to reinforce and I think there will be investments."

Manchester United-bound Depay named Eredivisie's best young talent

    memphis-depay-eredivisie-10052015_aqvr90m88aly166b8ezpglnuy.jpg

Memphis Depay has been awarded the Johan Cruyff Trophy for being the most impressive young player in the Eredivisie this season.

The Netherlands international, who will move to Manchester United this summer, scored 22 goals and provided a further five assists as PSV were crowned league champions this season.

Cruyff, Ajax head coach Frank de Boer, Zwolle boss Ron Jans and former Netherlands player Wim Jonk announced Depay, who was in Manchester overnight completing a medical, as the winner on Tuesday.

"Last year he was already very close, and now he's by far first. He's made tremendous progress," Cruyff said.

Depay added: "I'm proud of the fact that I'm not only top scorer, but also talent of the year."

In addition to the trophy, Depay will also have a 'Cruyff Court' - football pitches located all over the country - named after him.

PSV team-mate Georginio Wijnaldum was named the Eredivisie best player for 2014-15 earlier in the spring and has also been linked with a big summer move.

Depay will complete his move to United when the transfer window opens in June. The 21-year-old will pen a five-year contract in a deal which could rise to €43 million.

Barcelona talent will be too much for Juventus - Stoichkov

    luis-suarez-lionel-messi-barcelona-athletic-bilbao-la-liga-matchday-22_2ikzxwuavn3414wr3rx9wbc9x.jpg

Barcelona will beat Juventus in the Champions League final because they boast the better talent, according to Hristo Stoichkov.

The newly-crowned Liga champions swept past Bayern Munich in the semi-finals 5-3 on aggregate, while Serie A kings Juve overcame holders Real Madrid to set up the showpiece in Berlin.

Stoichkov, who won the European Cup with Barca in 1992, is in little doubt as to who should be favourites to lift the trophy on June 6."Barca will win, they have the most talent," the Bulgaria icon told television programme Al Primer Toque.

Stoichkov also had high praise for head coach Luis Enrique, whom he played alongisde at Camp Nou between 1996 and 1998."Has a very clear vision, he is a worthy coach for Barcelona," Stoichkov said.

"Even though he was affected by [former sporting director Andoni] Zubizarreta's departure.

"He is a plus when it comes to managing the dressing room. He has character and he triumphed as a player like that."

Barca's attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar have been in fearsome form during 2015 but Stoichkov was keen to highlight the importance of the whole team during their remarkable recent form.

"He's one of a kind. He is and will be the best," he said of Messi. "But behind Messi, Neymar and Suarez, there are eight other players who make a team that works."

Finally, Stoichkov moved to defend under-fire Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas and head coach Carlo Ancelotti, with both tipped for a summer exit.
"Iker Casillas didn't deserve what's happened," he said. "Ancelotti is a good guy and a good coach. He'll stay at Madrid if nothing strange happens."

    Wenger: FFP never worked completely

    arsenewenger-cropped_m48w9m5zqhppzgncjmkkbxbu.jpg

Arsene Wenger is not surprised that Uefa is planning to relax its Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, claiming that the system has "never worked completely".

European football's governing body introduced FFP as a way of preventing clubs from spending beyond their means, with fines imposed on teams found to be in breach, with likes of Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter falling foul of the rules in the past 12 months..

However, on Monday Uefa president Michel Platini revealed that the rules are likely to be relaxed in the future, although he did not go into specific detail and Wenger, who has been a long-time advocate of ensuring teams do not overspend, believes FFP has not worked.

"It will not affect us at all because we always spend the money we have," he told reporters. "There were some clubs who never respected FFP and it looks like international pressure to make the rules more flexible because of potential investors in other countries.

"The TV contract [for Premier League rights] in England has pushed some other clubs in Europe to make it better for them to compete. I believe it's down to potential investment of English clubs.

"It never worked completely. It had a positive influence on some aspects of the job but it was never completely in place. The only thing you can say is before it was completely in place it is already changed.

"Uefa does not have the same power as it had 10 to15 years ago because everything can be challenged and that makes it more difficult for rigid rules because there is always a contradiction of freedom of investment under European rules. Very intelligent people work on that problem.

"At the start to me it looked very logical and easy to apply but when wanted to push it in it was more difficult. They took investment in the youth system out of FFP and it created huge investment in the youth system and the wages came up as well."

Milan will have a big transfer campaign, insists Galliani

Adriano Galliani has promised that AC Milan will do whatever it takes in this summer's transfer market to restore the club to its former glory. The San Siro side have been struggling to compete for top honours in Serie A in recent seasons and currently sit 11th in the Italian top flight.

However, Galliani is confident they can become a force to be reckoned with once again.

"Milan have reached three Champions League finals in 10 years and won it twice. My goal is to help the club return to that level," Galliani told reporters."[Club owner Silvio] Berlusconi has a lot of desire to return to the top. We want to return to the top after a year where we have suffered a lot.

"We will have a big transfer campaign. It's easy to start over again when you have the prestige Milan has. Just look at what [reigning champions] Juventus achieved.
"We finished 11th in the table in 1998 and then won the Scudetto the year after. We want to repeat that and get back to the top."Milan meet Torino and Atalanta in their last two games of the season as they aim to end on a high.

Lacazette will cost over €50m, says Aulas

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has stressed that Alexandre Lacazette will not leave the club for anything less than €50 million.

The 23-year-old has been in sublime form in 2014-15 and currently leads the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts with 27 goals in 33 appearances.

Lacazette has been linked with a summer switch to clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, but Aulas is desperate to hold on to his star player.

"We will do everything within our powers to hold on to Alexandre," the Lyon supremo told Canal+."You never have any certainties in football, but we are determined to keep him here.

"A transfer fee of €50m would not be enough for an attacker like him. He is priceless.

"PSG? I have never spoken with Nasser Al Khelaifi about Alexandre. And I never get the impression PSG want him whenever I speak with Laurent Blanc."
Lacazette's contract with Lyon runs until June 2018.

Wenger: I won't lie over Sterling bid

    1369772_heroa.jpg

Arsene Wenger kept his cards close to his chest when asked about a potential Arsenal bid for wantaway Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling.

Goal understands that the England international will inform Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre on Friday that he wants to leave Anfield this summer.

Sterling publicly addressed interest from Arsenal in April, describing himself as "flattered" to be linked with the club, while Wenger replied by insisting he has no room to accommodate the player in his squad.

When asked about interest in Sterling, Wenger told reporters: "I will bid for people yes, but at the moment we are not in transfer mode at all. I don't like to lie. If I say I will and I don't do it, you will say I lied."

Liverpool have drawn up a list of possible replacements for Sterling - one of whom is Arsenal winger Theo Walcott - while Manchester City remain keen on the 20-year-old after holding a long-standing interest.

De Gea to hold fresh Manchester United talks

    david-de-gea-manchester-united-manchester-city-12042015_x8b97tsl8eg313ufiw28xg8fb.jpg

David De Gea's agent is to hold talks with Manchester United this week about the goalkeeper's future at the club.

The Premier League side has offered a lucrative contract extension to the Spain international, yet he is understood to remain unconvinced that his career will be best served by accepting it.

Real Madrid regard De Gea as an obvious successor to Iker Casillas and, with United having allowed their player of the season's contract to run down to its final year, the Liga club hold a strong bargaining position.

A couple of other factors are also thought to be part of De Gea's decision over whether to remain at Old Trafford or leave this summer.

Firstly, the Spaniard has been left unimpressed by aspects of Louis van Gaal's management in the Dutchman's first campaign at the club.

Van Gaal's lack of confidence in De Gea's abilities saw him ask United to sign an alternative first-team goalkeeper in last summer's transfer market. Although it proved impossible to secure his preferred option for the position, the manager is also understood to have asked his new club to hold off on formally offering De Gea a new contract until he'd decided on the Spaniard's long-term suitability within his system.

Although De Gea went on to deliver arguably his best ever campaign in a United shirt - proving instrumental in rescuing Van Gaal's pursuit of Champions League qualification and ending it as the only United player named by his fellow professionals in the PFA Team of the Year - he is said to have been left bemused by a series of lukewarm public comments from his manager.

A man of the match performance in December's critical away win at Southampton saw Van Gaal downplay De Gea's contribution. “What do you think I have to answer now?” he said. “He stopped three balls, I think. I think three in total. Is that normal or not? Is that exceptional?”

In February, shortly after handing former Barcelona No.1 Victor Valdes a lucrative 18-month contract, United's manager again pointedly avoided offering De Gea praise following a run of exceptional games. "I think he doesn't save many points because he's my goalkeeper - his obligation is to hold balls. You are thinking that is an exception. For other goalkeepers it's not like that."

Last week Van Gaal talked openly about the possibility of losing the 24-year-old, stating that he hoped De Gea would agree a new deal but that if he didn't “we shall already know who shall be the next goalkeeper. We also have a list of goalkeepers who can replace him because we have to be organised always.”

Van Gaal is conscious that a transfer to Madrid would further De Gea's ambition to become Spain's first-choice goalkeeper, while the return to his home city would allow him to spend more time with his family and Madrid-based girlfriend.

"A transfer is a process involving a player, a club and his present club,” said Van Gaal on Sunday. “He has to choose. It is not easy to choose between two great clubs. We would be very happy if he stays. Of course he is Spanish and his girlfriend is Spanish and he can go to another great club, so it is difficult for him to decide.

"I don't think I can persuade him because he knows everything that he has at Manchester United at this moment. I don't have to say anything for the benefit of Manchester United because he can feel everything. The crowd has been unbelievable. You have seen that reaction here. It has been unbelievable, for the team and for him individually. When he is going he is losing that because here he has a lot of credits."

Another factor that could influence De Gea's decision is that United's cause has not been helped by Van Gaal's idiosyncratic treatment of some of the club's other Spanish-speaking footballers.

His handling of record signing Angel Di Maria and previously free-scoring striker Radamel Falcao has angered agent Jorge Mendes, who took the uncharacteristic step of unfavourably comparing Van Gaal's management to Sir Alex Ferguson's in a rare interview earlier this year. Mendes also represents De Gea.
