De Bruyne: I still don't know why Mourinho sold me

    kevin-de-bruyne-wolfsburg-dfb-pokal-30052015_16s5f9q4hzbk61h2uepa6bnel3.jpg

Kevin De Bruyne insists that he still does not know why Jose Mourinho let him leave Chelsea - and again hinted that he is ready to return to the Premier League.

The Belgium international made just nine appearances in all competitions for the Blues before joining Wolfsburg in an £18 million (€24.6m) deal in January 2014, amid suggestions that Mourinho was unhappy with the midfielder's attitude.

But De Bruyne is adamant that the Chelsea boss never relayed such concerns to him and says a lack of playing time was behind his desire to seek a move to the Bundesliga.

“I still don’t understand why Jose Mourinho let me leave," he told reporters. "I never discussed it with him. I started to play and then it was finished.

“After four months, I asked him to leave. I didn’t want to stay at a club where I wasn’t even playing for 10 minutes. He said it was my attitude in training? It is an excuse he can use.

“But no-one can say that as they haven’t seen me train. I don’t think that in Belgium or in the Bundesliga they have complained about this. That is the way it is. I am not angry. When I was transferred to Wolfsburg, Chelsea got their money. Everyone was happy.”

De Bruyne has re-established himself as one of the finest midfield talents in Europe at Wolfsburg, notching 15 goals and 25 assists in all competitions and winning the DFB-Pokal.

The 23-year-old is the subject of interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich, but says he is in no rush to make a decision on his future.

“I have not caused any problems. I am going to take my time," he added.

“But the squad really has to be reinforced because it will be harder next season to play both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

“If I leave, I have no preference where I go. In my head, it is 95 % I won’t go to Russia or Italy. It is not my style of play.

"But England, Spain, France or the Bundesliga, yes. They are the best leagues. There are some very good teams. That appeals to me.”

:yes:I will get Manchester United chance, insists Hernandez

    javier-hernandez-real-madrid-atletico-madrid-champions-league-22042015_1caqnmhxia6yf1nyobaf29snp1.jpg

Javier Hernandez is confident he will get a chance to play for Manchester United next season as speculation mounts over his future.

The Mexico international is due to return to Old Trafford this summer after spending a season on loan at Real Madrid, where he scored eight goals in 31 appearances in all competitions.

Louis van Gaal is set to overhaul is attacking options in the coming weeks, with United having declined to take up their optiont to permanently sign Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie's future uncertain.

And Hernandez believes the Dutchman will be willing to give him more opportunities next season should he return to Old Trafford.

When it was pointed out that Van Gaal let him leave last summer, Hernandez told Marca: "But the circumstances were different - Van Gaal arrived and wanted to restructure the squad, make it smaller.

"There was no European competition and he wanted to concentrate on the league and maybe he didn’t want so many players because they were not going to be able to play.

"Now the situation has changed. There will be a Champions League qualifier, a lot more games and I think that there will be more opportunities. I think I will have chances to play at United."

Hernandez insists he would be very happy to stay at Real Madrid on a permanent basis - but only if he gets more first-team opportunities.
"What I want is to go to a team where I can play and have minutes," he added. "If it’s Manchester United or another, I will also be happy. That’s my priority above all else.

"Real Madrid had a date by which they could exercise the right to buy me and they let it pass. Now they’re like any other club and right now I’m a Manchester United player. That’s the only reality."

When asked how he would react if new Madrid boss Rafa Benitez were to call him, Hernandez replied: "If he did I would be delighted, but it’s all about playing, that’s what every footballer wants. If it’s not like that, I would look for a team where I can do that."

Falcao to Chelsea? Mourinho confirms he wants a new striker

    falcao-manchester-united-premier-league_1uhpttjrrvpgu1k6ce7knu5r0e.jpg

Jose Mourinho has revealed that Chelsea are in the market for a striker this summer, with the club attempting to negotiate a deal for Radamel Falcao.

Goal reported on June 5 that Mourinho is at the centre of the push to sign Falcao, who struggled to make an impact in the Premier League during his loan spell with Manchester United in the 2014-15 season.

The Colombia international has since returned to Monaco, with United deciding against taking up an option to purchase him outright, and, while not mentioning the forward by name, the Blues boss has confirmed he is looking to sign a striker.

He told The Sunday Times: "We have to buy a striker because we want to have three strikers of a good level.

"We do not want to have just one [transfer target]. Then you lose a good position on the negotiation table."

Mourinho, though, anticipates a difficult process in acquiring players that will improve a Chelsea side that stormed to the Premier League title. He added: "It will be difficult to find players to go straight into the team.

"Because it's not easy to find a better striker than Diego [Costa], a better keeper than [Thibaut] Courtois, a better midfield player than [Nemanja] Matic or [Cesc] Fabregas.

"This season is about improving the squad, bringing players to make us more consistent, so we don't go through difficult periods like last season when we had crucial injuries. We have to try and protect that situation by adding two or three players."

Schurrle: I did not fail at Chelsea

    andre-schurrle-chelsea-premier-league_1nirnamdmtu8j1upfeteeadxdv.jpg

Andre Schurrle insists he did not fail at Chelsea and feels he didn’t have the full support from Jose Mourinho.

The 24-year-old joined Stamford Bridge in an £18 million (€24.6m) deal from Bayer Leverkusen in June 2013 but returned to the Bundesliga after less than two seasons in the Premier League.

Schurrle, who moved to Wolfsburg in February, claims that Mourinho wanted him to remain at Stamford Bridge but was not convinced by the Chelsea manager.

"I definitely did not fail at Chelsea,” the Germany international told Kicker.

“I always had my chance, scored important goals in the first season. At the end I just wanted the transfer, although Jose Mourinho wanted me to stay. But I did not feel the complete backing."

Guardiola must spend for Bayern to be like Barcelona, says Hamann

    pep-guardiola-fc-bayern-bundesliga-23052015_14q7thr09fle71vc44rg5gpq47.jpg

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes that the only way for his old club to replicate Barcelona's treble success is for Pep Guardiola to spend heavily on new signings.

Barca swept to the Primera Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League titles last term, dumping Bayern out of Europe along the way and impressing current pundit Hamann, who attributed the Catalans' success to the money they spent last summer.

"With Neymar, [Luis] Suarez and [Ivan] Rakitic, Barcelona strengthened optimally," the ex-Germany international told TZ on Sunday. "The problem at Bayern is that old age is creeping up on critical players such as [Franck] Ribery and [Arjen] Robben.

"[Bastian] Schweinsteiger and [Xabi] Alonso are not getting any younger either. Much of the team is not that old, but the greatest need remains in Bayern's wide positions, where only a handful of the world's top players, like [Chelsea's Eden] Hazard, Neymar and Messi play.

"I agree with [Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge that changing the whole troupe now does not make sense, but it may be too late if they wait six or 12 months to address the issue [of the veterans]."

But while Hamann insists Bayern's board must back their coach fully in the transfer market if they are to see results on the continent, the 41-year-old remains unconvinced by Guardiola's record in charge of the Bavarians."I still believe that Pep needs to prove himself. The bar remains the Champions League," he continued. "And they lost 4-0 to Real Madrid there last year and 5-3 to Barca this year, with a squad which is probably just as expensive.

"Guardiola demands enormous amounts of himself and therefore gets worn down quickly. I don't think he can work for a club for more than three or four years, so I don't think there'll be a long Guardiola era at Bayern."

The Catalan coach took over at Allianz Arena in 2014 after Bayern had won the treble themselves, but the team have since failed to progress beyond the semi-finals of the Champions League in successive seasons under him.

'Champions League final marks new Juventus era of success' - Agnelli

    andrea-agnelli-e-fiero-della-sua-juventus_1ded94gnvpbkz1c8xqwkx1aweh.jpg

Juventus president Andrea Agnelli believes the club's appearance in the Champions League final to be a sign of greater things to come.

The Bianconeri had been on the cusp of completing a superb treble last season, winning their fourth consecutive Scudetto along with the club's 10th Coppa Italia while beating Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid on the road to Berlin.

Consequently, even though Juve were beaten 3-1 by Barcelona in the Champions League final, Agnelli believes that the Old Lady is now back where she belongs, mixing it with the game's elite.

“Looking back at Juve’s history in Europe, I think we’ve returned to the level where we all want to be," the 39-year-old told assembled reporters at a press conference.

"My aim is to ensure that the team continues to grow and remains competitive. I'd like to thank [coach] Massimiliano Allegri for the way he's come in and taken over at the helm in a historic period for Juve.

"The Champions League Final is our starting point for the future. After the matches against Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, we were able to play an open game against Barcelona.

"We certainly leave with some mixed feelings about the match in Berlin. We put in a fantastic performance and it bodes well for the future.“But it’s obvious that when you play in the final of the Champions League you play to win it, like with any match that Juventus plays."

The Italian champions have already been busy reinforcing for the next campaign, signing Paulo Dybala for €40 million and just missing official confirmation of Sami Khedira's free transfer to Turin.

Ibrahimovic cannot leave without PSG's permission, says Raiola

    zlatan-ibrahimovic-paris-saint-germain_18u6zb118zh311a0phvjft1ayz.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain will not allow Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave the club for a return to AC Milan this summer, according to his agent Mino Raiola.

The Rossoneri are keen on re-signing the striker, who spent two seasons with the Serie A side between 2010 and 2012, with club president Silvio Berlusconi publicly declaring his interest in the Sweden international.

Howeever, Raiola has now ruled out a transfer, despite reports that Milan are prepared to match Ibrahimovic's wages and rumours the 32-year-old is unhappy at the Parc des Princes following his anti-France outburst in April.

“He has a contract and cannot just decide to leave by himself,” Raiola told Journal du Dimanche.“President Nasser Al-Khelaifi was asked about this and said no, PSG will not sell Ibrahimovic.”

The fallen Serie A giants are preparing for another summer overhaul after a dismal 10th place finish under Filippo Inzaghi, with Ibrahimovic just one of the names previously touted to be part of the Rossoneri's revolution.

:no:Redknapp: Rio Ferdinand could coach West Ham

    rio-ferdinand-harry-redknapp-qpr_fizaiwoynvkv1jye7vgexyztc.jpg

Harry Redknapp insists it would not be “ridiculous” for West Ham to appoint Rio Ferdinand as their new manager.

Goal understands that Slaven Bilic is on West Ham’s radar after the 46-year-old left Besiktas at the end of the season, while another target, Unai Emery, has ruled himself out of the running after signing a new deal with Sevilla last Friday.

Ferdinand called time on his 19-year playing career at the end of May and Redknapp believes the 36-year-old, who won six Premier League titles and the Champions League with Manchester United, is ready to go straight into management.

“It wouldn’t be that ridiculous for West Ham [to appoint Ferdinand] they’ve got good players and as I say, we’ve seen in the last year or two some young guys given the opportunity to manage and done well,” Redknapp told Kicca.

“Gary Monk is a prime example, with what he’s done at Swansea this year, he was a player and suddenly he comes in and had a fantastic season.

“West Ham’s a great club, so it wouldn’t be impossible for him to have a crack at something like that.”

Redknapp was also impressed by Ferdinand’s tactical knowledge during their time together at QPR last season.

“I’d like to see him as manager of West Ham, I’d go with him as director of football, that would be a good partnership,” he joked.

“But I’d love to see him get the opportunity somewhere, he’s young and enthusiastic. Gary Monk’s done fantastic at Swansea, who have gone out of playing and gone straight into management so there’s no reason why, if given the opportunity somewhere with the right people around him, Rio couldn’t do very well.

“He’s doing his coaching badges and has got a great football brain. I used to talk to him a lot at QPR, he’d be on the bench and I’d ask his opinion ‘what you think Rio?’ and he always had good ideas and read the game well. I’m sure he’ll come back and get himself into coaching.”

Aleix Vidal set for Barcelona presentation

    bailly-aleix-vidal-sevilla-villarreal-uefa-europa-league-03192015_xvwc2cx6if0d1fz9ksbb9els8.jpg

Barcelona have announced that they will formally present new signing Aleix Vidal to the press on Monday.

The versatile Sevilla winger, who can also play full-back, penned a five-year deal with the Blaugrana on Saturday, after the two clubs agreed a deal reportedly worth €10 million.

Vidal will be unveiled at a media conference on Monday at 14:15CET having passed a medical with the newly-crowned Champions League winners on Sunday.

The 25-year-old played a key role in Sevilla's Europa League triumph and made 47 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring four times and registering 11 assists.

Under the terms of Barca's transfer ban, Vidal - who could make his Spain debut this week - would be unable to play for the Blaugrana until January 2016 at the earliest.

Vidal's arrival is being viewed as confirmation that Dani Alves will leave Camp Nou this summer, having failed to agree terms on a new contract with the club.

    Robben: Bayern's season wasn't a failure

    arjen-robben-bayern-munchen_uk9m1mtgepuy12a247qexfl84.jpg

Arjen Robben has rubbished the suggestion that Bayern Munich's season was a failure because they only won the Bundesliga title.

The Bavarians had been considered one of the top candidates to secure a treble last term, but injury issues scuppered their season as they crashed out of the semi-finals of the Champions League and DFB-Pokal to Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.

Nevertheless, Robben asserts the club had been the victims of unrealistic expectation and argued that some perspective should be applied to evaluations of their 2014-15 campaign.

"I laugh when I hear all those things [about failure]," the 31-year-old addressed Kicker. "There is no reason to be ashamed of this season. On the contrary, I think the evaluation is too radical.

"If you win, everything is great; if you lose, everything is bad. That's not fair. We had a season after a World Cup. Look at the lines people wrote ahead of the season. Everyone agreed that it will be the hardest season for us since years.

"And then? We won the league with a ten-point lead. That's a great effort. It mustn't happen that everything, the coach or the players, are called into question after such a season. That's totally unfounded."

The Netherlands international then refuted claims he had become a liability after missing big matches in 2015 due to injury, and backed a fit-again Bayern squad for silverware next term.

"Such specualtion is nonsense. I was in really good shape over most of the season] and just as excited about playing the games against Leverkusen, Dortmund, Porto or Barcelona," Robben insisted. "I am still fit and feel like I am able to play at this level for a few more years.

"I have a lot of trust in our squad. Look at our team - Javi Martinez will be fit again, Thiago [Alcantara] is able to take part in the whole pre-season, Franck Ribery and I are coming back, David Alaba will be fit.

"It is just important that we can practice together as a whole from thebeginning next season. I am really looking forward to it."

'It's a dream come true' - Vidal unveiled at Barcelona

    barcelona-aleix-vidal_tg83gg0nsfdi1wd3w7d7n9umc.png

Aleix Vidal says signing for Barcelona is a "dream come true" and insists he has no problem with having to wait until January to make his debut.

The winger, who spent one year in the Barca youth system as an 11-year-old, was unveiled to the media on Monday after joining from Sevilla.

However, Barca's transfer ban means they cannot complete registrations and field new players until January 2016, so he will have to wait months before he can play his first game. The 25-year-old, who is expected to play as a full-back at Barca, says he is happy to take the time to adapt to his new surroundings as he prepares for his debut.

"After the birth of my daughter, this is the most important day of my life. I'm back at what used to be my home. If it's the start of a winning cycle then so much the better.

"When I realised it was going to happen, I didn't think it would be a problem being out until January. Positives come with that - I can concentrate on getting ready for where I'm going to play.

"It was a very clear decision that I made to come to this club. The time out is going to be useful for me to improve specific elements of playing in a position that's still relatively new to me.

"I only played my first games at full-back last season, but it's up to the manager where I play."

Vidal, who played for Espanyol B, Gimnastic, Mallorca B and Almeria amongst others before joining Sevilla last season and winning the Europa League, admitted that he did not know he would be joining Luis Enrique's side until the day before his unveiling and hopes that Dani Alves will remain at the club.

"I've been focused now on playing with the national team but then this opportunity came up very quickly. It was only Sunday afternoon that I found out the two parties had decided and I had to get straight on a plane to come here.

"I've come back to what was my home for a year. Since I was very young, I had to move from club to club on my quest to become a pro. All those different experiences were useful though.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet. This year I played eight or nine games as a full back and we didn't lose any of them. Including in the Europa League semi final, where I scored a goal.

"One of the keys to playing in a team like this is you're going to have lots of competition for places. If Dani stays, then it's wonderful, but it's not for me to comment. It would be great for him to stay here.

"I don't feel pressure about competing against one of the best full-backs in the world. I think it's a challenge. I'm relaxed. I know what I can do and contribute and if Alves stays, then the competition will be excellent for him and for me.

"It's not my position that I've always played in. I think there are certain things that can always be improved, but that's why it's nice that I've got months to work on those aspects of my game."

Despite winning a domestic and European treble, Luis Enrique says his future at Barca remains uncertain, but Vidal believes he will still be in charge when the new season comes around.

"I had an opportunity to speak to Luis Enrique after my medical. I assume he will be the manager next season. I don't think the speculation around it will be a problem for me."

Cruyff: Messi saved Barcelona against Juventus

    lionel-messi-barcelona-champions-league-06062015_djxxtpw7701r1u31x6r1q3df1.jpg

Johan Cryuff believes Barcelona could not have beaten Juventus 3-1 in the Champions League final without their talisman Lionel Messi showing off the selfless aspects of his game.

Messi was expected to show up decisively in the Berlin final but failed to score, while Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez and Neymar all found the net as Juventus even managed to shut the Argentine down for long spells of the game.

But Cruyff argued it was the other side of the four time Ballon d'Or winner that the world witnessed on Saturday, with his work and sacrifice for the team being fundamental to the Catalans' eventual success.

"It was a fun Champions League final to watch, also because Barcelona and Juventus both played as we all expected," the Dutchman, who won the European Cup with Barca as coach, wrote in De Telegraaf.

"With his style of play, Messi relieved his team. Against Juventus, you could see how he works at Barcelona."You didn't see him participate in a lot of moves, but just check how often he put pressure on his direct opponent and won back ball posession. How many free-kicks did he win?"

The 68-year-old saw Netherlands surrender a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3 to the United States in Amsterdam on Friday and he blamed the defeat on the lack of the very team spirit amongst the players that Messi displayed the following day.

"I missed that sense of sacrifice during the Netherlands' loss to America. Playing means to help other players, instead of causing problems for your own team-mates."

Van Persie isn't joining Lazio - Tare

    robinvanpersie-cropped_1he6nzbiiqoqm1j3tmxb3we95a.jpg

Lazio will not be signing Robin van Persie from Manchester United this summer, while Miroslav Klose is set to stay at the club, according to sporting director Igli Tare.

Netherlands international Van Persie faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, as he says he will not settle for a spot on the bench next season and reports have emerged that Louis van Gaal is willing to offload the striker in a bid to restructure his forward line.

The Serie A side have been touted as a possible destination and the striker was spotted in Rome the day after Netherlands lost 4-3 to United States. However, president Claudio Lotito dismissed such rumours as "bullshit".
Tare echoed the president's sentiments, saying that Van Persie is not on Lazio's radar, before adding that Klose is set to stay at Stadio Olimpico as they prepare to play in the Champions League next season.

"I can only say that I respect Van Persie as a striker, but unfortunately he is outside of our parameters," Tare told Lazio Style Radio. "There was never any meeting.
"Klose has decided to continue his adventure with Lazio, it's a sign of his great attachment to the club and to the fans."

Tare also confirmed that Lazio have signed Barcelona B right-back Patric and that a meeting will be held with head coach Stefano Pioli to discuss other transfer targets.

Cristiano Ronaldo's mother detained for carrying €55,000

    cristiano-ronaldo-real-madrid-champions-league_1a3zbjv2rk43c130t9617w05k5.jpg

Cristiano Ronaldo's mother got herself into trouble with the law recently when she was found to have been travelling with €55,000 in her hand luggage. according to reports in Spain.According to Europa Press, Dolores Aveiro was in the Barajas airport in Madrid in April when a routine search found out how much money she was carrying.

The maximum amount of cash a person is permitted to carry on an aeroplane when leaving Spain is €10,000, leading to the mother of the three-time Ballon d'Or winner being detained when it was revealed she had over five times the legal limit.
The press agency reports that she could not justify the amount of money she was carrying, so the police confiscated €45,000 and allowed her to travel to Portugal with the remaining money.

In carrying so much, Aveiro committed an administrative offence and now must pay a fine to the tax authorities in order to free up the remainder of her money.

Rosicky: My Arsenal situation isn't funny

    tomas-rosicky-brighton-2-3-arsenal_1vfvtrmlkn9cn1itbumqh67k5m.jpg

Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky has hit out at Arsene Wenger over the handling of his new contract after losing his place in the squad towards the end of the season.

Rosicky had admitted that he had been looking into leaving the club during the January transfer window having made just one Premier League start before the turn of the year.

However, he was then given a run in the team between January and March and soon admitted he would like to stay at the club. Wenger then confirmed in May that the Gunners would be taking up the option of extending the Czech Republic international's current deal into the 2015-16 season.

But the 34-year-old now feels that he has been sidelined since having his future confirmed, and admitted he may look into his options again once pre-season is underway.

"Since the moment Arsene Wenger used the option in my contract, I haven't even been on the bench," he told reporters.

"I am laughing, but it's not funny.

"It's frustrating but I am a professional. Even if you lose your place, you must still be prepared because the situation can change.

"I'll start the summer preparation with Arsenal and that's the whole of my plan for the time being."

Podolski: I can add a lot to Arsenal

    lukas-podolski-arsenal_1xtov97e98dgy1l2nsuxvxxckc.jpg

Lukas Podolski is happy to return to Arsenal and insists he still has much to offer the FA Cup winners.

The 30-year-old moved to Inter on loan in January after failing to start a single Premier League game for Arsenal, but the Serie A outfit decided against a permanent move after a return of just one Serie A goal.

Podolski has been linked with a possible move to Werder Bremen, but he denies that contact has been made and is determined to make his mark next term after a frustrating campaign.

"There's bound to be speculation in the coming weeks, but at the moment it looks like I will be going back to London," he told reporters.

"Things can always change, but if needs be I will remain at Arsenal next season. They are a great club and I think I can help them. I can confirm there has been no interest from Werder Bremen.

"From a sporting perspective it was certainly not the best year. But I am still young. I still very much feel like playing football. Let's see what happens. I will not vanish from the football world."

'We don't need Balotelli!' - Irish side mock Liverpool striker

    1264232_heroa.jpg

Don't expect to see Mario Balotelli playing in the Irish First Division any time soon.

Cabinteely FC have publicly ruled out a move for the striker after being less than impressed with his form for Liverpool after joining for €20 million last summer, scoring just once in 16 Premier League games.

Comparing Balotelli to the likes of Conor Foley, John McKeown, Ger Pender and Shane O'Neill, the Italian's scoring stats do not rank well in a tongue-in-cheek post on Twitter.

Balotelli's future at Anfield is under question despite signing a three-year deal less than 12 months ago, with Liverpool strengthening their forward line with the announcement of Danny Ings' imminent arrival from Burnley on Monday.

Liverpool have rejected Borini offers - agent

    fabio-borini-liverpool_zldrv6iq0z5s1j6wu3iteyg9j.jpg

Liverpool have rejected numerous loan offers for Fabio Borini, according to the striker's agent.

The former Chelsea forward made just three Premier League starts for the Reds during the 2014-15 season, and failed to even make the squad for their final five matches of the campaign.

The 24-year-old could fall further down the pecking order at Anfield after the club confirmed a deal was in place to sign Burnley's Danny Ings.

Sunderland and QPR both previously moved to sign the striker, with a transfer to the Stadium of Light collapsing last summer, and his representative Marco de Marchi is now planning talks with Liverpool over the player's future.

"Soon we will have to talk to Liverpool,” he told Calciomercato.it.

“Several teams have asked for Fabio on loan but the Liverpool board have always refused, especially in light of the £10 million bid that was rejected last year from Sunderland.”

'Manchester United will spend €275m this summer' - Van Persie

    robin-van-persie-manchester-united_nfjm6ishhjid1wxfrl5tu82qk.jpg

Robin van Persie has revealed he expects Manchester United to spend £200 million (€275m) on new players this summer.

Louis van Gaal oversaw a spree in excess of €200m last summer as Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Ander Herrera arrived at Old Trafford.

Memphis Depay has already been signed in a £22.3m (€30.6m) deal from Dutch champions PSV while on Saturday Goal reported that United are readying themselves to make an official bid for Tottenham sensation Harry Kane.

Van Persie's own future is the subject of speculation after a season in which he struggled for form and fitness, scoring just 10 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for United.

But the Dutchman expects the Red Devils to splash the cash again as they bid to reel in Premier League champions Chelsea next term.

"United spent £200m on players last year and they are going to spend another £200m this summer so we will have a team that can compete for the title," Van Persie said.

The former Arsenal striker, who has just a year left on his current contract, again discussed his future and his desire to play regular first-team football, but did not disclose whether that will be at Old Trafford.

"It is my ambition to play as many games as possible [next season]," he added. "I feel fitter than ever.

"And I know that the more games I play, the more it will help me prepare for the European Championships next summer.

"I will take everything into consideration when I decide on my future and I know I have to be realistic about the situation."
