:baffled::frown:Van Gaal: Even I am very bored by Manchester United

    louis-van-gaal-premier-league-stoke-v-manchester-united-261215_dpz0xx1is3dq1ti42fop83jvn.jpg

Louis van Gaal has admitted to feeling "very bored" and even angry while watching Manchester United play this season.

The Dutchman has seemingly survived any short-term threat to his job after a torrid December in which the club fell nine points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal and failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Two good performances against Chelsea and then Swansea City eased the pressure, but another unconvincing performance in the FA Cup third round against Sheffield United - which Van Gaal's team won courtesy of a stoppage-time penalty from captain Wayne Rooney - has the spotlight back on the manager's position at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal said he had enjoyed watching United at times this season, but said his team's inability to break open opposition defences has left him frustrated and bored.

"There are matches that I have enjoyed very much. Against Chelsea I have enjoyed it but the result was 0-0 and we could have lost," Van Gaal told reporters.
"There are also matches where I'm very bored or angry because we are not disorganising our opponent's defence, but that is football.

"It's not every match that every club is playing fantastically, football that attracts the people. But that is also why the fans are coming. They can criticise but they can also cheer the players.

"They have been ironic [against Sheffield United], but that's also an expression of the fans and that's good. Also the players were frustrated and the fans are frustrated.

"You have to know that as a player, as a manager and the fans that we can't always play fantastic football and that was also the case in former days when it didn't happen. I'm sorry about that but it is like that."

Van Gaal has also come under fire for not getting off of his seat and encouraging players from the touchline, but the manager said he believed communication through the week was more effective.

"I'm not Sir Alex [Ferguson], as you know. Everybody is different and I don't believe in yelling from the sidelines," he said."I believe in communication during the week, during the preparation and I believe in my players who have to perform."

Van Gaal's side travel to Newcastle United on Tuesday as they look to get their Premier League campaign back on track.

Guardiola apologises to Premier League managers

    pep-guardiola-bundesliga-werder-bremen-v-bayern-munich_z4zde9p9zwbw1isilxxfkwrut.jpg

Pep Guardiola has apologised to his Premier League counterparts for his early confirmation that he would be leaving Bayern Munich subsequent admission he was keen to work in England.

The Spaniard announced last month that he would leave the German champions at the end of the season to seek a move to the Premier League, prompting links to Manchester City and Manchester United, as well as Chelsea and to a lesser extent Arsenal.

Manuel Pellegrini has received little public assurance from City about his long-term future at the club and has commented that even winning the Premier League title might not be enough to save him.

Across town Louis van Gaal has been under constant pressure this season with Manchester United struggling for consistency in the league and out of the Champions League already.

Chelsea are actively looking for a permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho for next season, with Guus Hiddink taking temporary control of the Premier League champions.

Guardiola said he was sorry for the pressure his announcement had placed on his fellow managers.

"I am sorry," said Guardiola. "Normally in my career as a trainer and as a player, I respect my colleagues a lot. So I am sorry. It wasn't my intention."I will reveal my new club once I have actually signed a contract."

Wright warns Lukaku off Manchester United move

    romelu-lukaku_svki43617xo91h915bhu5sm4p.jpg

Former England striker Ian Wright has warned Everton star Romelu Lukaku not to join Manchester United as he believe he has little to gain at Old Trafford.

The Belgium international has been in stunning form in 2015-16, scoring 19 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions and is continually being linked with a move, with United believed to be among his admirers.

However, Wright feels Old Trafford would not be a good destination for Lukaku - who has a contract until June 2019 - due to the ongoing unrest at the club.

"Manchester United would not be attractive to him at the moment because of the turmoil they are in," he told The Sun.

"Because he would have to go there with a massive price tag on him and he'll have to do it and whether he can do that is a different story, with the pressure on Manchester United.

"There is too much pressure there when they are like this, there is too much pressure when they aren't winning. "With the pressure they are under for not winning, they are not attractive."

I can see Neymar at Real Madrid - Roberto Carlos

    neymar-barcelona-fifa-ballon-d-or_1p43rr94gf57g1tcjxbhoqmidr.jpg

Neymar wearing a Real Madrid shirt could be a possibility in the future, according to compatriot Roberto Carlos. Lionel Messi was awarded a fifth Ballon d'Or trophy on Monday, with Neymar finishing as the third best player of the world for 2015, behind his Barcelona team-mate and Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Brazilian has established himself as an integral figure in the Barca side since his big-money switch from Santos in 2013.

However Carlos - who made over 500 appearances across an 11-year spell with Madrid - says he can see Neymar playing in the Spanish capital in the future.

"Neymar is very young," he told Punto Pelota. "I am sure next year he will finish even higher in the Ballon d'Or.

"I can see one day Neymar coming to Real Madrid."Carlos also spoke about a return to the club in a coaching capacity to assist former team-mate and new Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane.

"I had a meeting with Real Madrid about my future with the club," said the 42-year-old. "Soon we will know how to collaborate with Zidane's Madrid."

'A load of crap!' - Pulis rubbishes praise of Hiddink

    guushiddink-cropped_imnp4mp0w6m017b0gh6uu6fur.jpg

Crediting Guus Hiddink for Chelsea's recent revival is a "load of crap", according to West Brom head coach Tony Pulis.

The Dutchman took charge at Stamford Bridge in December after Jose Mourinho was sacked, leading his team on a four-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

But Pulis insists the praise for Hiddink since his appointment has been somewhat hyperbolic.

"To be honest, what's been said is a load of crap in lots of respects," he said.

"The fact Mourinho won the league by a country mile - to say someone's come in and changed it and they're playing better and doing everything else better.

"There might have been other reasons that things didn't go so well this year.

"But to put Jose down is completely and utterly out of order. It's disrespectful to Mourinho and also the players that won the league last year, because they played some great football."

Chelsea are 14th in the Premier League, two places below West Brom through 20 games this season.

Guardiola: Maybe it'll be two years until I coach in England

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola says it could be two years until he moves to the Premier League.

Guardiola last month confirmed he would leave Bayern when his contract expires at the end of this season and he subsequently announced that his desire to work in England's top flight is behind the decision.

Several leading club have been tipped to move for Guardiola, with Manchester City viewed as the front-runners to have the 44-year-old in place for the start of the 2016-17 season, due in part to his close relationship with City director of football Txiki Begiristain.

But the former Barcelona boss told a news conference that his move to the Premier League does not necessarily have to come next season."When I sign a contract I will announce it immediately," he said. "Maybe it will be two years until I will coach a team in England."

"I am very happy about my experience in Munich. I am working until my last second here."After that I will go home and wait to see if it is possible to move to England or not. If it's not, then I won't."

Following his celebrated tenure at Barcelona, Guardiola enjoyed a one-year sabbatical from football before taking up the reins at Bayern for the 2013-14 season.

Sampaoli plays waiting game amid Chelsea & Porto links

    2449362_heroa.jpg

The signs were there that things were coming to a head. Upon arrival at his Zurich hotel on Sunday, Jorge Sampaoli spoke of the “total disinformation” being spread about his situation. Just 24 hours later, prior to attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony, he gave an extraordinarily frank interview to a Chilean radio station in which he stated his desire to leave his post with the national team.

“In this environment I would not want to work or live in the country,” he told Radio Agricultura. “I never imagined in such little time the image of an idol who gave a lot to Chilean football could be destroyed.”

Sampaoli’s distress can be linked to another event that took place in Zurich some eight months ago. The Fifa corruption scandal that unfolded in front of the world’s eyes back in May was essentially a scandal over media rights in the Americas.

The then president of the Chilean Football Federation (ANFP), Sergio Jadue became involved in the U.S. Justice Department’s investigations and while Chile were away in Uruguay for a key qualifying match in November, he was escorted through Santiago airport and put on a plane to the United States, reportedly to act as a protected informant for the U.S. investigators.

Since then, rumours about Sampaoli’s future have intensified. The investigations into the Chilean federation’s financial dealings have seen the coach’s earnings scrutinised and details leaked to the press. “My honour and my personal dignity were affected by linking to me all acts of corruption that happened with the previous directors,” he claimed. “Five years ago I used to earn $3,000. Don't you think I have the right to try to save money by depositing my salary in countries that protect legitimate income?”

No concrete details are available as to what exactly Sampaoli has been accused of doing. It is therefore difficult to assess whether his claim that he is being “held hostage” by the Chilean federation is as over the top as it sounds – he wilfully accepted a four-year extension of his contract back in 2014 – or whether he is simply using the corruption investigation as leverage to get him out of a job he feels he has finished. That accusation may sound harsh, but Sampaoli may be recognising the fact that his star has never shone so brightly.

That is a fact that new ANFP president, Arturo Salah, appears to be aware of too, which might explain why he is playing hardball with his coach. Sampaoli can go, he has apparently said, but only if somebody pays the $12 million release clause in the Argentine’s contract.

Given the success that Sampaoli has enjoyed and the high cost associated with recruiting him, Europe appears his most likely destination. He has been linked with several jobs already and most heavily in the last couple of days with Porto and Chelsea. And given that he’s recently put his representation in the hands of the so called ‘super-agent’ Jorge Mendes, it is unlikely that he will be short of options. The main challenge for Sampaoli may be in picking the right club.

There is little dispute that his philosophy is tightly linked to that of Marcelo Bielsa, the man who preceded him as coach of the Chilean national team. Sampaoli has admitted to being obsessed with Bielsa and his philosophy on the game, so much so that he used to go jogging while listening to cassette tapes of El Loco’s lectures. The truth is that Bielsa’s influence can be seen all over modern football, particularly in Europe. And that strong association makes Sampaoli an attractive prospect to many. But the unwavering belief he holds in his philosophy does also demand complete commitment from whoever chooses to hire him.

In terms of the two clubs currently being linked with him, Porto look the more suitable fit. They have an athletic squad, already versed in possession-based football (albeit Julen Lopetegui’s less direct version of it), though there are questions as to whether the Portuguese league would be enough of a draw. Chelsea are more high profile, but would present a more radical challenge in order to adapt the playing style of the team, far more focused on defensive solidarity and rapid transitions. Sampaoli would also find a dressing room full of world stars, potentially more critical of his lack of European experience than he would find at the Dragao.

Sampaoli may be more open to change than his inspiration Bielsa, but he is still a coach with a distinct style that he will look to impose wherever he goes. It therefore seems logical that he will either seek out a club that already has the profile of playing squad to fulfil his vision or one where he has the full faith of an owner who will allow him time and money to rebuild a squad. As desperate as he may be to move on and test himself in Europe, he may need to wait a little longer in order to find the right club.

Manchester United exit was nothing personal with Van Gaal, insists Hernandez

    javier-hernandez-cropped_25u8kxvd322n1tupdzfiq67ae.jpg

Javier Hernandez insists Louis van Gaal's decision to phase him out of the Manchester United set-up was "nothing personal".

The Mexico international was sold to Bayer Leverkusen last August after failing to cement his place in the Dutchman's plans at Old Trafford, having spent much of the previous season on loan at Real Madrid.

Hernandez has scored 19 goals in an impressive campaign in Germany so far, while United's laboured attack has yielded just 10 goals in their last 11 fixtures.

The 27-year-old admits he is happy to hear suggestions that he was allowed to leave too early but says he holds no grudge over Van Gaal's decision to offload him."It's part of the game, only 11 players can start. It was nothing personal but every coach has his own plan," he told Bild.

"When people criticise Van Gaal, that's their opinion. I'm pleased that people think I could have stayed there longer. I had four great years in Manchester, I was champion twice."

Hernandez, linked with Arsenal earlier this year, would not rule out the prospect of moving on from Bayer Leverkusen in future, though he stressed he is enjoying life at the club.

"We'll see, you never know what will happen. For the last two or three years I've played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and now Leverkusen," he said.

"In this sport, it doesn't matter if you sign for 10, 12 years or if you extend by one season every year. Everything can change after six months. "I'm happy to be at this great club. My goal is now to play a very good second half of the season.

"I want to finish in the top four. We want to go as far as we can in the Europa League and the Pokal. You have to think about the maximum in any competition you're in."The goal must always be the final, and then to win it."

Hernandez has also praised the team spirit within Rodger Schmidt's camp, adding: "It's not only on the pitch. We have good cohesion here, there are a lot of young players. Ninety per cent of them speak English and that for me is a great help.
"It's been much better for us in recent games - we need to continue that in the second half of the season."

    Liverpool confirm Caulker loan deal

    2520242_heroa.jpg

Liverpool have signed Steven Caulker on loan from Queens Park Rangers until the end of the season.

Caulker had been on loan at Southampton, but had found his playing time restricted, with Jose Fonte and Virgil van Dijk favoured in the first-team.
The 24-year-old was registered before the Premier League’s midday cut-off, so he will be eligible to face Arsenal and could be named in Wednesday’s squad.

The centre-back is on his way to Melwood, and is hoping to arrive at the complex in time to be involved in the Reds’ training session at 4pm.

Jurgen Klopp was keen to add another option to the heart of defence, where Kolo Toure is the only certain option for the showdown with Arsene Wenger's men at Anfield.

Mamadou Sakho is pushing to be included after shaking off a minor knee injury, but Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel are still sidelined with hamstring strains.

Tiago Ilori, back from a failed temporary stint at Aston Villa, started the FA Cup third-round draw with Exeter, but is not experienced enough to deal with the club’s Premier League commitments.

Given Liverpool’s packed fixture list and Klopp’s desire not to increase the strain on his centre-backs, the club moved quickly for Caulker.
He had a season-long loan spell at Southampton cancelled by QPR due to lack of game time in order to move to Merseyside, and proved to be the only logical solution on the Reds’ shortlist of options for a defensive recruit.

Borussia Dortmund made it clear they were unwilling to part with Neven Subotic, who Klopp took to Signal Iduna Park from Mainz. The manager’s plan to have the Serbian feature for him at three different clubs was quickly dashed.

Inter’s Andrea Ranocchia, who has been courted by Sampdoria and Bologna, was also looked at while Schalke’s Joel Matip did not want to depart in the winter window.

The former Tottenham man would be eligible to play in the Europa League if Liverpool opt to register him. He will be also be available for FA Cup encounters should the Reds get past Exeter in the third round replay, which he cannot feature in due to not being registered for the original tie.

This is the fifth loan spell of Caulker’s career.

Guardiola owes me no apology, insists Pellegrini

    2500432_heroa.jpg

Manuel Pellegrini insists Pep Guardiola has no reason to apologise to him, despite constant speculation linking the current Bayern Munich boss with a move to Manchester City.

Guardiola announced in December that he will leave Bayern at the end of the season - a move criticised by some - and recently confirmed that the Premier League will be his next destination.

The former Barcelona midfielder and coach even said sorry to his colleagues in English football on Monday, but Pellegrini insists he has not been unsettled by the situation.

“No, I’m not worried about that," he said. "I don’t think he has to apologise to me. I have nothing to say about that. It’s the same thing I said three or four weeks ago. I’m not worried about the future.”

Goal understands that Guardiola will indeed replace Pellegrini this summer and it is also believed that the experienced Chilean is fully aware of City's plans.

He has spoken at length about his future in recent weeks and has even expressed his hopes that Guardiola will one day manage the club, but his default position has been that he is focusing only on finishing the season as strongly as possible.

“My duty is to make the best work here for Manchester City," he added on Tuesday. "My target is to try to win the Premier League this year, to try to be involved in every competition until the end, and to try to win another competition more.

"If I finish the year with those achievements, I will be very happy. At that moment, I will just start to think about the future.”

Saul commits to Atletico Madrid 'for life' amid Manchester United links

    saul-niguez-cropped_lh036fwsvwy3182zs438zlhwz.jpg

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has insisted he wants to spend his whole career at the Vicente Calderon amid speculation linking him with Manchester United.

Reports in Spain have tipped the versatile 21-year-old to make a €20 million (£15m) move to Old Trafford, with his buyout clause rumoured to be as low as €26m (£19.5m).

But Saul, who has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, is relishing his growing role with Atletico and has set his sights on winning La Liga.

"I've achieved a lot," he told Sportium News. "It's a very special feeling. My biggest dream is to be at the club all my life and continue to win titles."I'm going through a great moment and it shows on the pitch. I'm happy for the goals but mostly because the teams benefits.

"We have shown we're capable of fighting for the league and even winning it, but it's very even and any team can give you a scare.

"The work we do every day will determine how far we go and if we have the league in our sights we'll go for it until the death."Saul was given his league debut by Diego Simeone in 2013 but sent out on loan to Rayo Vallecano before he became a permanent part of the Argentine's first-team plans.

"He gave me my debut and was very sincere when he said I had to leave on loan to get more minutes and continue to develop," he added. "Time has proved him right."

Robben insists Guardiola only needs ONE thing to succeed in the Premier League

    guardiolarobben-cropped_140rci9kq92wg11edxsgutd77b.jpg

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben insists Pep Guardiola only needs a quality squad at his disposal in order to be successful.

Guardiola has confirmed his desire to move to England next season, with Manchester City tipped to be his most likely destination.

The Bayern coach has enjoyed success in Germany and Spain, as well as in the Champions League."You never know. It depends on a lot of things. We don't know which team he will manage," the Netherlands international said.

"But I'm convinced that with his qualities, his playing style, and how he thinks about football, if he has got good players, he will do fine."Robben said nothing had changed at Bayern, despite Guardiola announcing he would be leaving at the end of the campaign.

"Relieved? I don't know. To me he just seems the same," he said."He is motivated as always and completely focused. I can't see a big change."
