Van Gaal: I want Man Utd to play like Mourinho's Chelsea

    453607_heroa.jpg

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has praised Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho ahead of Sunday's clash between the two sides, stating he would like his team to play like his former protege's.

Mourinho worked as a coach under Van Gaal at Barcelona in the 1990s, and had earlier thanked the Dutchman for his help in the early days of his career.

But Van Gaal says he had already recognised the potential of the Portuguese, which is why he gave him the responsibility of taking charge of Catalunya Cup matches.

"It is not such a great tactical battle because his team plays how I want to play with my team, so I don't think there are secrets any more," Van Gaal told a press conference on Friday.

"He has said that [he learned a lot at Barcelona] and it's remarkable because not many people talk about that.

"He says it not only about Louis van Gaal but Bobby Robson. I appreciate it but you always do it by yourself.

"I was also an assistant coach and my eyes were also opened and it’s good that his eyes were open when he was my assistant, but you do it by yourself.

"I know Jose already has talent because I let him do cup matches instead of my other coaches. He's a wonderful coach and to see him as a coach winning trophies in other countries is fantastic."

When asked what had impressed him most about Mourinho, Van Gaal replied: "That you can never imagine that he is a very modest and emotional human being - and I like that.

"But it's a surprise, no? He's one of the best coaches in the world."

Messi said 'don't cheat on me' - Aguero

    416193_heroa.jpg

Sergio Aguero has revealed in his new autobiography how Lionel Messi jokingly told him "don't cheat on me" after the Argentina room-mates were separated recently.

The two players have been close friends since 2005 when they first played for their country's under-17 side, with the pair rooming together the night before games for the last nine years.

However, Aguero was forced to sleep alone on one recent international trip that Messi missed, with the Manchester City star admitting they both shared a joke on one of the rare occasions they were separated.

He revealed in his new book 'Born to rise': "When one of us is not there, we'll be on our own in the room. Last time when he was missing he sent me a text saying, ''Who have they put you with?''

I texted back: ''Don’t worry about it, love – I’m alone!''. But he shot back: ''Don’t be cheating on me!''

The former Atletico Madrid striker also talks about their first introduction back in 2005, admitting he didn't even know who the future four-time Ballon d'Or winner was at the time."The first time I met Leo Messi I didn't know who he was, only that I couldn't believe the boots he was wearing. But he is like a brother to me."After a while I looked at him and said: ''Sorry, what’s your name?''

He just replied: ''Leo.'' ''Leo,'' I said, ''Leo what...?'' ''Lionel,'' he answered. ''Lionel Messi.''"I recognised the name from somewhere and eventually remembered he was the kid from Rosario who had gone to Barcelona."

Aguero also explains their typical preparations the night before a game, with the 26-year-old often riling the Barcelona star with his fondness for late night TV.
He added: “He tends to fall asleep quite quickly and the only thing that annoys him is that I like to watch TV with the sound down.

“When I fall asleep, he wakes up and comes looking for the remote. When he’s asleep I have to tiptoe to the toilet and stop my phone from vibrating in case it wakes him up.”

    Brazil name foreign-based squad

    501271_heroa.jpg

On Thursday Dunga announced his 23-man Brazil squad for November’s Gillette Brasil Global Tour friendlies with Turkey and Austria, with a number of omissions.

Botafogo goalkeeper and Brazil No.1 Jefferson, Corinthians duo Gil and Elias, Cruzeiro’s Everton Ribeiro and Ricardo Goulart, and Atletico Mineiro’s Diego Tardelli were missing. All six had been named in both of Dunga’s squads since the World Cup, with only injury forcing Ricardo Goulart to miss October’s trip to Asia.

There would also be no recall for Kaka or Robinho, who are on loan at Sao Paulo and Santos respectively. Gremio’s Marcelo Grohe and Sao Paulo’s Souza were drafted in as late replacements for the games with Argentina and Japan in October, and they too were left out.

The squad was made up exclusively of foreign-based players after the CBF decided not select any domestic-based players due to a jam-packed local calendar which affords no time for international breaks.Three rounds of the Brazilian championship are due to take place between Brazil’s matches next month."We have to think of the national team,” said Dunga.

“But every moment is different. We have kept in touch with coaches and club presidents, and we are sensitive to their responsibilities. We arrived at the decision that this was a time to let go of some of the Brazilian players and provide opportunities to those from abroad.”CBF President Jose Maria Marin thanked local clubs for their co-operation with the national team and authorised youth team coach Alexandre Gallo to select anyone he wants as he prepares for the Rio Olympics next year.

With six regulars omitted from the squad, Dunga took the opportunity to select some new faces from Europe, with Valencia’s Diego Alves and Fiorentina’s Neto replacing goalkeepers Jefferson and Marcelo Grohe.

Hoffenheim’s Roberto Firmino, Shakhtar Donetsk duo Luiz Adriano and Douglas Costa, Porto’s Casemiro and Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Moura all earned their first call-ups under the new coach.

I want more from Gotze - Guardiola

    505991_heroa.jpg

Pep Guardiola says he still wants to see more from Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze despite his blistering start to the season.

The 22-year-old scored 16 goals in 38 matches in his first season at the club last term after arriving from rivals Borussia Dortmund in a €37 million deal in the summer of 2013 and already has six goals in seven appearances this term. That return makes him the Bundesliga's top goalscorer, but Guardiola is refusing to lavish praise on the forward, instead urging him to make even greater strides of progress in the months ahead.

"I want more," the Spaniard said on Friday. "He has great quality, Bayern Munich want more from Mario. We've talked about it and I know that he is ready for it."
Bayern meet Borussia Monchengladbach in Sunday's top-of-the-table clash, before a DFB-Pokal tie with Hamburg next Wednesday ahead of Der Klassiker with rivals Borussia Dortmund on November 1.

Following a tough domestic schedule, Bayern will play a fourth match in the space of 11 days when they welcome Roma to the Allianz Arena on November 5 in the Champions League.Bayern head into Sunday's match unbeaten in Germany's top flight and on the back of a stunning 7-1 demolition of Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, but Guardiola is keen to temper expectations at the club, while highlighting their upcoming fixture pile-up.

"[We need to] stay calm. We are only in October," he added. "These are the most important 10 days before the winter break. We'll see what level we are on.

"Now, the players themselves have to fight to earn a place in the team. They need to show me every day that they are ready to play."

:lol:I told Suarez not to bite me - Pique

    457347_heroa.jpg

Barcelona star Gerard Pique has revealed how he jokingly warned Luis Suarez not to bite him after dispossessing the club's summer signing in training this week.

Suarez arrived at Camp Nou from Liverpool in a €95 million over the summer but is yet to make his competitive debut for the club after serving a four-month ban for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

However, that suspension comes to an end on Saturday, meaning he is eligible to play in Barcelona’s Clasico encounter with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 27-year-old has made a big impression on his new team-mates in training, but Pique says that has not stopped him being at the centre of several jokes at his expense over his indiscipline over the summer.

Pique told ESPNFC: “When we are jockeying for the ball, for example today in a training drill when I had to defend a cross and he had to attack it, I'll give it: "Hey! Don't bite me!" He just smiles. Luis knows it's not right to bite in a football match.
“It's happened, he apologised, he has to accept it and move on. In training he's so competitive, though. He gets a kick and he won't go down. Never. He just continues trying to score even if you kick him or pull his shirt.”

The former Manchester United centre-back also dismissed the suggestion any of the squad were concerned the arrival of Suarez could disrupt dressing room harmony.

He added: “When he arrived, he'd not trained and wasn't playing -- he was "dead" after 10 minutes of training and I'd be like, "What's happened to you, man?!" But after two or three weeks he was fit and now he's really in shape. He showed that with his goals against Oman.

“In training he's unbelievable. Luis has this thing ... let me put it like this: there'll be two or three rebounds off players when he dribbles in the box and suddenly the ball is still at his feet and he scores. He creates goals from absolutely nothing.

“This is a different style of player from what we have here. Guys like [Andres] Iniesta and Xavi are really sweet on the ball. You enjoy watching them. With Luis it's the opposite style -- he's fighting, he's working, but finally he scores the goal. Always.
