'It's Real Madrid or nothing' - Ancelotti rules out Milan return

    1421222_heroa.jpg

Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out a return to AC Milan and claims he will take a year off if Real Madrid choose to force him out after a below-par season.

The Blancos thumped Getafe 7-3 in their final La Liga game of the season on Saturday during which the coach was vocally supported at the Santiago Bernabeu, and he received a standing ovation from the home crowd.Ancelotti is expected to be sacked in the coming days after falling short in La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey this season.

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is the favourite to replace him, while Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi had earlier said he would bring the Italian back to San Siro if he was sacked from his coaching role at the Bernabeu.

“My future is clear: I am staying at Real Madrid or I will take a year off,” Ancelotti told reporters after the match.“If the club tells me I'm not wanted, I won't be happy. But sackings are commonplace in my line of work.

"There is no hurry to sort anything. The club are considering what to do and I'm not in a hurry to leave. I have had no communication from the club yet. I will know my fate on Monday or Tuesday.”

Ancelotti said he was pleased to see Iker Casillas also receive a positive reception from the home supporters and thanked his players for their efforts in what proved to be an up-and-down 2014-15 campaign.

"The fans have understood how important Iker has been for this club this season,” said the coach. “Better late than never.""The players have shown professionalism and a serious attitude until the last game and the last minute of the season.

“We had injuries to several important players and we suffered in that period. I do not forget everything we achieved last year, but nor will I forget what needs to be improved upon."

Madrid ended the season with 92 points from their 38 matches in La Liga, two adrift of champions Barcelona.

Ronaldo: I hope Ancelotti stays at Real Madrid

    1427542_heroa.jpg

Cristiano Ronaldo has thrown his support behind Carlo Ancelotti as he awaits news of his future at Real Madrid.

The club finished two points behind the Catalans in La Liga, were eliminated at the semi-final stage of the Champions League and exited the Copa del Rey back in January.

Madrid have lined up Napoli boss Rafa Benitez as Ancelotti's replacement and he could be relieved of his duties by Monday.

However, Ronaldo tweeted a message of support along with a picture of the football giants embracing in the Santiago Bernabeu dressing room after the club's 7-3 thrashing of Getafe on Saturday.

"Great coach and an amazing person," Ronaldo wrote, referring to Ancelotti. "Hope we work together next season."

Madrid team-mate James Rodriguez directed a word of warning towards the club as he hinted that getting rid of the three-time Champions League-winning coach would disrupt the squad's harmony.

"Ancelotti leaving would be tough to take," the Colombian attacker told Gol TV. "He came in two years ago, he knows the team really well, know what we're about and how we act.

"But it's not my decision and I shouldn't really be talking about it."

    Simeone hails 'incredible season'

    diegosimeone-cropped_1xgwyioq2vek51qox1rpiyrebe.jpg

After Atletico Madrid concluded their campaign with a dour 0-0 draw at Granada, coach Diego Simeone hailed their season as "incredible".

The Argentine led the club to a stunning Liga title in 2013-14, upsetting the duopoly of Barcelona and Real Madrid to lift the trophy for the first time since 1996, when the former midfielder was an Atletico player.

Despite ending this season 16 points behind Barca, and failing to recreate last term's run to the Champions League final, Simeone remains content with his side's achievements.

"Top marks for me," he said. "This year we won the Spanish Super Cup, we are third, and we've had a great competition with Real Madrid and Barcelona in the Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

"It has been an incredible season. Gigantic work of the players, great work of the club. These guys are making the club and the fans feel absolutely proud of the footballers again."

Saturday's drab affair at Granada secured survival for the hosts and also meant Atletico held off the challenge of Valencia and sealed third spot - the final automatic berth for Champions League qualification."Anything can happen in a match at any moment. No one wanted to risk anything so nothing unwanted happened and I value the whole season," Simeone said.

"When one gets to the last round with options, the work of the whole season is asserted. Obviously, we played knowing that with a point we were in and celebrate it with great joy.

"Since we arrived to the club, if they had decided, as is the case now, that whoever wins the Europa League goes straight to the Champions League, we would have entered four times because the first year we arrived, we were champions.
"I can ask nothing more from the players."

Blanc: Treble-chasing PSG cannot rest just yet

    laurent-blanc-psg-eag-ligue-1-08052015_1an620u3bp9hx125p5nlhpz291.jpg

Laurent Blanc has urged Paris Saint-Germain's to maintain their hunger for trophies after they ended their Ligue 1 campaign with a 3-2 victory over Reims.

Edinson Cavani scored twice and Adrien Rabiot also got on the scoresheet to give the already-crowned champions victory ahead of next week's Coupe de France final.PSG face Ajaccio as they bid for a domestic treble and Blanc praised his players for another successful campaign.

"We showed a good mentality tonight," the coach said after the game. "But we can't relax, we have an extra week of work because of the cup final and we want to win it.

"I have a very good team with very good players, it's been a good season."PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi added his thoughts on the season and voiced his determination to pursue success in the Champions League next term.

"I want to thank everyone, the players, the staff, the public for this beautiful season.
"Next year we will try and give you our European dream."

Wilshere: It would hurt if Arsenal sold me

    622191_heroa.jpg

Jack Wilshere says he would hurt if Arsenal sold him but admits he is yet to discuss with future with Arsene Wenger.

The midfielder recently made his return after yet another injury setback, which has restricted the 23-year-old to just 13 Premier League appearances this season.

In his absence, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey have continued to impress while Mesut Ozil has rediscovered his best form and Francis Coquelin has established him in the first team.

Wilshere expects to be at Arsenal come the start of next season and says he would find it hard to play for another club, but accepts he has a tough task on his hand with Arsenal's competition for places.

"I would be hurt if they sold me," he told the Daily Mail. "I want Arsenal to want me. If they didn't want me, it would hurt. It would be strange playing for another club. I went to Bolton on loan and that was strange.

"I feel like I'm ready to play now and that's not going to change. I want to play more minutes before the end of the season and then I'll have to wait until next season and see what the boss's plans are for me.

"I want to play first-team football. I want to play in the Premier League, the Champions League and I want to continue playing for England.

"If I'm going to do that, I have to play for my club and put in good performances for my club because there are other English midfielders who are doing that in the Premier League.

"You can't stop the speculation or do anything about it. I have not spoken to the boss about it at all. He has not mentioned it to me. I've not mentioned anything to him.

"At the moment, I need to get back in the team. The speculation about my future started when I was injured. You just want to get back out there and get back to what you love doing and concentrate on that."

Pellegrini: I voted for Mourinho as manager of the year

    1427782_heroa.jpg

Manuel Pellegrini has revealed he voted for Jose Mourinho as manager of the year.

The Chilean, who was overlooked for the same award last season despite winning the Premier League title and League Cup, saw his Chelsea counterpart dethrone Manchester City this term.

Mourinho, who was not rewarded with a monthly recognition from the Premier League during the season, has also claimed the same title-and-cup double but Pellegrini does not bear any grudges.

"I am a member of the LMA [League Managers Association] and I voted for Mourinho because I know what he has achieved is very good," Pellegrini told reporters.

"I can't explain what happened last year, so I don't think about it too much. I don’t think my opinion is very important.

"I wasn't chosen as the best manager, but I was very happy about what I did last season because we won two titles and we won them playing beautiful football and scoring lots of goals.

"I don't know how the decision can be made, but if they choose another manager that is the choice."

:cool:Rooney's a top captain who brings me pride - Van Gaal

    louis-van-gaal-wayne-rooney-manchester-united_1hsulevrgdban1alwwxui0pey0.jpg

Louis van Gaal has praised Wayne Rooney's work as Manchester United captain this season, saying he is proud of the striker.

Rooney was announced as skipper following the Dutchman's appointment as manager last summer after a number of players were trialled wearing the armband during pre-season.

Van Gaal hailed Rooney's work rate behind the scenes and his versatility on the pitch after making more appearances in a deeper midfield role rather than as a focal attacking point.

"Wayne is a very good captain. I am very proud. I haven't had any disappointments this year with him," he told reporters.

"He is very good in the dressing room. He is always an example of the training pitch and when we play in matches, he always fights until the end.

"Wayne has also played a lot of positions for me without ever complaining. I like multi-functional players and the team needs more players like him.

"I think that I made a very good decision with Wayne because have fought right until the end in all of our matches. The team spirit has been great."

United end their season on Sunday with a trip to a Hull City side in desperate need for a win to have any chance of avoiding relegation and Van Gaal insists he is in no mood to hand out favours.

He added: "It is very sad when something bad happens because you don't want to happen to another manager and I know what Steve Bruce means here.

"But we need to be ruthless. We have to respect the other clubs of the Premier League. We shall do out utmost best, but our away record is not so good."
