Neymar: I'm fed up and p****d off

    neymar-bayern-munich-barcelona-champions-league-12052015_s2hnsm61xhzn1g1biof2sf7zs.jpg

Barcelona forward Neymar has admitted that he has been frustrated by the way his 2013 transfer is being dragged through the Spanish court system.

The 23-year-old's transfer from Santos to Camp Nou was initially claimed to have cost the Liga club €57 million, although subsequent analysis showed the overall fees were €86.2m.

The revelations played a part in Sandro Rosell stepping down as Barca president in January 2014 and, this year, Spain's courts decided to press fraud charges against the newly-crowned European champions as well as Rosell and his successor Josep Maria Bartomeu over the financial irregularities.

Neymar is trying not to let the allegations affect his form and fully expects himself to be exonerated from the legal action being taken against the Catalans, who secretly paid €40m to a company owned by his father to ensure he would choose to join Barca over any rivals.

"My business is playing football, which is the thing I love to do," he told Brazilian media on a visit to the Pele Museum. "I'm not going to mess that up."We are already addressing the court issue, my father is working on it. If the court seeks justice, as it should, then everything will turn out all right.

"I am fed up by what's happening. There comes a time when it p****s me off, but it will never disturb my performances on the pitch."

Neymar hit the headlines for the wrong reason in June when he was handed a four-match Brazil ban for his actions in the aftermath of Dunga's side's defeat to Colombia in the Copa American group stage.

Without the Barca forward leading their attack, Brazil crashed out in the quarter-finals on penalties to Paraguay.

:(:(:(Man United give up on De Gea as Real Madrid close in

    1438202_heroa.jpg

Manchester United are resigned to losing David de Gea to Real Madrid this summer and have given up on attempts to keep him at Old Trafford.

Sources have told Goal that United have accepted De Gea's desire to move to Madrid in the transfer window and are concentrating on negotiating the best possible deal for the Spaniard.

De Gea told United in early June that he would not sign the new €280,000-a-week contract offered by the club and informed them of his desire to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

United are playing hardball with Real Madrid and have demanded more than €40 million for the goalkeeper despite the fact that he has only one year remaining on his contract.

But behind closed doors senior club officials have told Goal that De Gea is certain to leave United, even if negotiations drag on until the end of the transfer window.

While United are serious about their interest in Sergio Ramos, they also recognise the bargaining value in their recent bid for the Real Madrid defender, whom they believe wants to complete a switch to Old Trafford.

De Gea is eager to push through his transfer after being warned that the Spanish giants will move on to other targets if he does not make the switch this summer.

The 24-year-old has been identified in Madrid as the perfect long-term replacement for Iker Casillas as the club's first-choice goalkeeper.

    1597752.jpg

Casillas has two years remaining on his Real Madrid contract but is expected to either drop to the bench or leave the club this summer.

A move to the Spanish giants would also boost De Gea's chances of replacing Casillas in the Spain national team ahead of the European Championship in France in 2016.

De Gea was named United's Players' Player of the Season and Fans' Player of the Season last term but the former Atletico Madrid man is also keen to return to Spain, where his popstar girlfriend is based.

United have been linked with the likes of Jasper Cillessen and Hugo Lloris as potential replacements in goal and manager Louis van Gaal claimed in May that he had already drawn up a list of targets.

"We shall already know who shall be the next goalkeeper," said the Dutchman. "We also have a list of goalkeepers who can replace him because we have to be organised always."

De Gea joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for €24.4m and has made 175 appearances for the club in four seasons.

Muller: Ignore transfer gossip, I'm staying at Bayern

    thomas-muller-bayern-munich-17052014_utk1acjy94uj1saqzf0dq3i7m.jpg

Thomas Muller has insisted he wants to stay at Bayern Munich, dismissing reports that he could move to Manchester United this summer.

Along with fellow Bavarian star Bastian Schweinsteiger, Muller has been the subject of a lot of speculation, with reports suggesting he could swap the Allianz Arena for Old Trafford and link up with former coach Louis van Gaal again.

Though he sees attention from other top clubs as a compliment, the Germany international claims he has no intention of bailing on a Bayern contract which has another four years to run.

"When a transfer request comes in, you automatically deal with it," Muller told Bild. "A request from another big club is an honour and a telling reward that one's performances are good."But I feel good at Bayern and my deal runs until 2019. It's better to ignore speculation [such as Manchester United talk]."

Muller has been at Bayern since 2000, breaking through the youth ranks into the senior set-up in 2008, and he has won four league titles, three DFB-Pokal trophies and one Champions League in the past seven years.

But the 25-year-old thinks modern football can often work against young players as clubs craving immediate results will turn to players they have recently splashed cash on, ignoring their academy recruits.

"Who plays on the pitch for Bayern is ultimately decided by who is best for the team," he added. "However, getting recognition internally at a top club can perhaps be more difficult for a youth player.

"When you're bought by a club, your performances become their responsibility as they've paid a lot of money for a transfer, so they want to have faith in you.

"On the other hand, if you're already at a club, the club can often just assume you'll stay there. I don't find it hard to prove myself every season but maybe that's because my position is so flexible.

"But very good, new players are brought in every season by Bayern and the race for a starting position starts again from the beginning."

Barcelona delegation in Italy for Pogba talks

    1514772_heroa.jpg

Barcelona are set to formalise their interest in Paul Pogba on Wednesday when directors Ariedo Braida and Alberto Soler travel to Italy to meet Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta.

The Frenchman is the most sought-after player in this summer’s transfer market – with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City also interested in the 22-year-old.

Pogba has now emerged as Barcelona’s primary transfer target, despite the club being banned from signing players until January 2016.

With the Camp Nou presidential elections taking place in just over two weeks, all the candidates – including current incumbent Josep Maria Bartomeu and former chief Joan Laporta – want to buy Pogba.

On Wednesday, Braida and Soler are set to inform Marotta of their intention to sign Pogba for the start of the 2016-17 season, thus allowing him to remain in Turin for one more campaign. The plan is to reach an agreement with Juve before the July 18 elections.

Juventus are unwilling to listen to any offers below €80m - a figure Barca are prepared to begin the bidding with - and are very unlikely to sell this summer following the sale of Carlos Tevez and imminent departure of Andrea Pirlo.

However, the Bianconeri are more open to the possibility of a big sale next summer which could work in Barcelona’s favour given their transfer ban.

Goal understands that Manchester City are prepared to break the world record in order to sign Pogba, while PSG have offered the star €12m a season in order to return to his homeland.

However, the ex-Manchester United man regards Barcelona as his favoured next destination and only recently revealed that Lionel Messi would be a “dream team-mate”.

Madrid’s own interest in Pogba has wavered recently, with the club enduring a difficult relationship with the player’s agent Mino Raiola.

This has put Barcelona firmly in the box seat ahead of their talks with Juventus on Wednesday.

Pogba & Messi would be invincible at Barcelona - Sacchi

    paul-pogba-lionel-messi-juventus-barcelona_1xftbpvlu5y4e1i8l4bj4qizqv.jpg

Barcelona would be invincible if they were to unite Paul Pogba with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, according to coaching icon Arrigo Sacchi.

The Juventus midfielder is reported to be the top transfer target for an array of rich clubs, with Barca, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City all allegedly interested suitors.

On Tuesday, rumours started circling that Pogba would stay at Juve for another year with the Scudetto winners having agreed a deal to see the Frenchman depart for Camp Nou next year.

Ex-Madrid director of football Sacchi thinks Barca are a better fit for Pogba than the European champions' Clasico rivals, stating Luis Enrique's side would be potentially unbeatable should he sign for the club.

"Pogba is a player who is still improving and, at the age of 22, he is very interesting for plenty of clubs," the former AC Milan coach told Mundo Deportivo. "He has everything to make his mark on an era of football, his potential is so great."He reminds me of ex-Milan midfielder Frank Rijkaard who played artistically, and with such strength and knowledge of play. Like Frank, Pogba is a powerful player.

"Pogba would fit in any team but I think it would be easier for him to fit in at Barca than Madrid. They already have a great team now, but with him they'd be even better."Barca would be basically invincible with Pogba in the same team as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

"Besides, I'm not sure if Madrid are even interested in Pogba, although I haven't spoken to club president Florentino Perez about the matter."

Juve will inevitably make a mammoth profit on Pogba should they sell him, having signed him on a free transfer from Manchester United three years ago.

Douglas Costa joins Bayern Munich for €30m

    douglas-costa-brazil-copa-america-14062015_mnrnqtb7rdwm18ugot1qgxa5y.jpg

Douglas Costa has completed his move to Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga side agreed a €30 million fee with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Ukrainian side revealed an agreement with the Bundesliga champions had been reached on Wednesday, thanking the Brazil international for his five years of service.

"Shakhtar Donetsk and Bayern Munich have agreed all the necessary formalities regarding Douglas Costa’s move to the German club," the club said in a statement. "The transfer fee for the Brazilian midfielder is €30m."Shakhtar thanks Douglas for the time spent in the team and wishes him every success with the new club."

Moments later, Bayern tweeted the move had been completed and that the attacker has signed a deal which ties him to the club until 2020.

"For me, today a dream came true," Douglas Costa told the Bavarians' official website. "I am proud to play for Bayern, a club where many famous Brazilians have played before."I am looking forward to being part of a great team and I will do everything to meet the expectations."

Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer added: "Douglas Costa will be a valuable addition to our team. He has got exceptional technical skills, a strong left foot, he's very agile and extremely fast."Douglas Costa has decided to take the next step in his career after having played in Brazil and Ukraine. We will support him in every aspect."

The 24-year-old will be an additional wing option for coach Pep Guardiola, whose Bayern XI was hindered last season by the lack of options when Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery were injured.

Official: Porto sign Imbula for €20m

    gianelli-imbula-equipe-de-france_7w9h93o5wqql12luvybkcjxs4.jpg

Porto have signed Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula for €20 million on a contract that runs until June 30, 2020.

The 22-year-old has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Inter and Southampton in recent weeks, but put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with the Portuguese side.

Porto confirmed the deal had been completed on Wednesday and revealed they had inserted a €50m buyout clause in his contract to deter other clubs in the future.

Imbula insists his decision to join the Primeira Liga runners up is rooted in sporting reasons and he hopes he can help to bring success to the Estadio do Dragao.

"I am delighted to have signed for Porto," the former France Under-21international told his new club's official website. "The sporting project here seduced me.

"This is a club who have won many European trophies in their history, they have a great team and hopefully it will be even better with my contribution."I talked to the coach Julen Lopetegui two or three times and he convinced me to come. He told me who the team's style of play suits my qualities. I'm so glad to be here and I want to win many titles here.

"Porto is not known to throw money at young players so no one can say I came here because of money. I came here, instead, because of the trust placed in me by the coach and the club.

"Leaving Marseille to come here feels like a step up in my career and hopefully I can fulfil all the expectations Porto have about my future."

    Official: Arsenal confirm Diaby exit

    460095_heroa.jpg

Arsenal have confirmed that Abou Diaby has left the club as a free agent.

The 29-year-old played only two first-team games in the last two years and has left the club after his contract expired on June 30.

A statement from Arsenal read: "A hugely talented midfielder, unfortunately his time at the club was interrupted by a number of serious injuries."

Diaby joined Arsenal from Auxerre in January 2006 and made 180 first-team appearances in all competitions.

Ryo Miyaichi was also released earlier this summer but has since joined St Pauli in Germany's second division.

Official: Liverpool sign Clyne from Southampton

    1599022_heroa.jpg

Liverpool have completed the €17.5 million signing of Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton.

The Merseysiders won the race to sign the right-back ahead of Manchester United, despite Clyne informing the Red Devils in April that he would be eager to move to Old Trafford.

Clyne completed a medical on Monday before officially rubber-stamping his move to Liverpool, with the initial figure standing at €14.7m, and becomes Brendan Rodgers's sixth signing of a busy summer window so far.

The England international, who will replace soon-to-be-free-agent Glen Johnson, follows Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan and youngster Joe Gomez in moving to Anfield.

    1578932.jpg

Rodgers has embarked on a massive recruitment drive as he bids to reverse the Reds' fortunes following a disappointing 2014-15 campaign, with a rebuild needed even more after Steven Gerrard's departure to LA Galaxy and the potential sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City.

Clyne has emerged as one of the stand-out defenders in the Premier League and was part of a defensive unit that conceded just 33 goals last season, keeping 15 clean sheets.

His strong form saw him called up to the England team by Roy Hodgson in 2014, making his international debut in a 3-1 victory over Slovenia.

Southampton have already brought in a replacement for Clyne, who was set to be out of contract next summer, with Portuguese right-back Cedric having joined from Sporting at the start of June.

    Podolski keen to join Galatasaray

    lukas-podolski-inter_esr9mt359o0q1nrqltvphu7wi.jpg

Arsenal outcast Lukas Podolski is hoping to finalise a deal to join Galatasaray after falling out of favour at the Emirates Stadium.

Unable to get game time under manager Arsene Wenger, the Germany international forward was loaned out to Inter for the second half of last season but endured a difficult spell there which he admits in retrospect was "a mistake".

With a stay in north London unlikely, Gala confirmed their interest in the striker earlier in June and Podolski is enthusiastic about the prospect.

"I would like to play for Galatasaray," the 30-year-old told the Turkish giants' official website. "They have great fans and I have had a huge response from them on social media."

Podolski scored only one goal in his 18 games across all competitions for Inter after joining them in early January.

'Gundogan would be a flop at Barca, Bayern or PSG'

    ilkay-gundogan-borussia-dortmund-26112014_wtu9vg4m4ol11ve6wb0t8roo.jpg

Ilkay Gundogan should settle for Borussia Dortmund as he would not succeed at a bigger European club, according to Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus.
The central midfielder returned from a serious back injury last season that had restricted him to just three appearances in 2013-14 for Dortmund.

Gundogan was widely expected to depart Signal Iduna Park this summer, having expressed his desire to experience a new challenge, although the Germany international is allegedly now put.Matthaus thinks it would be wise for the 24-year-old to reconsider ditching Dortmund as he thinks Gundogan would not impress should he join a bigger club.

"I do not think that Gundogan would've made it into the first team at top European clubs like Barcelona, Bayern or Paris Saint-Germain," he told Sport Bild. "At Dortmund, the situation is different."The club have given him time to recover his fitness and, as a professional footballer, it's time to repay that faith and extend his contract until 2019.

"He now has a great opportunity to develop in a world-class BVB side and be involved in the national team again."

Gundogan featured 33 times for Dortmund in 2014-15, scoring three goals.

Clyne: Liverpool will help me reach my potential

    nathaniel-clyne-southampton_uysl5kiq6upv1tzo5zaa0vcly.jpg

New Liverpool signing Nathaniel Clyne is delighted to have secured a "dream move" to the club and believes he can reach his full potential with the club.

The England international right-back became Brendan Rodgers's sixth acquisition of the summer on Wednesday when he completed a €17.5 million transfer from Southampton.

The 24-year-old was entering the final year of his contract with the Saints and says that he had his heart set on the switch as soon as the Reds showed an interest.

"I'm delighted and it's a dream move for me to come here and play for such a big club with all of its history," Clyne told Liverpool's official website. "I can't wait to get started.

"As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me, I was happy and just wanted the deal to go through.

"The gaffer has shown a lot of interest in me and this is a place where I can improve as a player, I think. It's definitely a good opportunity to come here and try to fulfil my potential.

"I've played at Anfield before and know what the atmosphere is all about. It's a great atmosphere and will make me rise to the challenge. I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully it can push me on to putting on good performances."

Clyne is now the fourth player to join Liverpool from Southampton since the end of 2013-14, linking up with former team-mates Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren at Anfield.

Robben: Bayern need new signings? Nonsense!

    arjen-robben-fc-bayern-bundesliga-24052015_h2u7s5nvyru013ysb0e47lno1.jpg

Arjen Robben says it is "nonsense" to suggest Bayern Munich weren't good enough last season and need to sign new players this summer.

The Bavarians were beaten in the Champions League semi-finals by eventual winners Barcelona and lost to Borussia Dortmund at the same stage of the DFB-Pokal.Those cup failures cast a shadow over their Bundesliga success after they finished 10 points clear of second-placed Wolfsburg.

Robben was badly missed towards the end of the season after being sidelined by a calf injury, but the winger says Bayern don't require major surgery to compete in Europe next term.

"It seems to have been said that Bayern should be ashamed of last season and that we need to attract lots of new players, but that's nonsense," the Dutch winger, 31, told Algemeen Dagblad."We became German champions with a lead of 10 points and we reached two semi-finals.

"If Javi Martinez is back fully fit, if myself and Franck Ribery can get back fit, if David Alaba and Thiago Alcantara can continue their comebacks, then we are still very strong. We can still beat anyone."

Bayern have already added to their attacking options, having confirmed the €30 million signing of Shakhtar Donetsk star Douglas Costa on Wednesday.

    Mourinho reveals toughest opponent

    jose-mourinho-chelsea-premier-league-24052015_bey16fzlt1jl1tsjtjuvdstc0.jpg

Jose Mourinho says Manchester City and Southampton were Chelsea's most difficult opponents last season.

The Blues romped to top-flight glory in 2014-15, finishing eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City to add to their League Cup success.

They were, however, given stern tests by City and the Saints both home and away and Mourinho pointed to the games against the two sides as their most tricky encounters.

He remarked: "I have to be pragmatic and also choose two, the only two teams we couldn't beat. We didn't lose against them but we didn't beat them. Manchester City, two matches and two draws, and Southampton, two matches and two draws."

Mourinho also hailed his most recent title win as the most rewarding, because of the greater competition in the Premier League last term.

"[The Premier League] is more difficult than ever, I would say it was the most difficult one. It's very competitive with good teams," the Portuguese told Chelsea's official website.

"The mentality is very important and, in this country, even the teams without the same human potential as the top teams really fight and really believe. Every game becomes very competitive and mentality is a big part of it.

"At the same time, the good financial situation that every club has allows even the smaller teams and the promoted teams to get good players, have good squads and to be competitive."

Mourinho also reflected on his favourite moment of the season and believes that his side showed their title credentials from their very first match against Burnley, during which Andre Schurrle added the finishing touches to a spectacular team goal.

"I would say the first match of the season at Burnley [was my favourite moment] because it was the first feeling of the quality of football Chelsea could play," he continued.

"We played fantastically well in that match and we scored, in my opinion, the most beautiful goal collectively speaking, which was Schurrle's goal.

"I also have to choose the last seconds of Chelsea against Crystal Palace because that's when the referee finished the game and we were mathematically champions."

Clyne: I will win major trophies with Liverpool

    nathanielclyne-cropped_1ljkjs1a6iyoj12zue3j9639pf.jpg

Nathaniel Clyne is confident he will win major silverware Liverpool after completing his move from Southampton on Wednesday.

The England international has penned a five-year contract at Anfield, ending months of speculation that his three-year stay on the south coast was coming to an end.

Speaking in April, Clyne spoke of his desire to play in the Champions League, and the 24-year-old believes Brendan Rodgers' squad is capable of doing that and winning trophies with Liverpool.

"You can see we've got the players to do it. I'm sure with all the competitions we're going into this year, we'll be going into them looking to try and win them," he told the club's official website.

"That's where I want to be - I want to be competing for all the titles and trophies that are available. Hopefully we can have a good season and come out of it with some silverware."

Clyne, who joins the likes of Roberto Firmino, Danny Ings and James Milner in moving to Merseyside this close-season, stated that manager Rodgers was also a big factor in his decision.

"He works with young players and helps them progress," Clyne added. "I still think there is a lot to come from me and hopefully he can bring the best out of me.

"He's said he can do one-on-ones with me if it helps and do individual training sessions. I'm looking forward to it. I am going to work hard to try and get myself into the team and be the best player I can be."

In joining Liverpool, Clyne is reunited with former Southampton trio Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana, who all moved to Liverpool ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.

And Clyne said that a chat with England team-mate Lallana also helped sell the club to him.

"He said it's a good club - a big club with a huge fan base. He said the team is good and a good bunch of lads. He told me I'd be made to feel welcome if I joined," Clyne said.

Swansea City have completed the €7.5 million signing of Eder from Braga on a three-year deal.

Andre Ayew, Franck Tabanou and Kristoffer Nordfeldt have already completed moves to the Liberty Stadium, with the Portugal forward becoming their fourth arrival.

"I am very happy to have signed with Swansea," Eder told the club's official website. "It's a big club and I believe I can progress as a footballer here.

"The Premier League will be a step up for me, but I’ve played in the European competitions and also for my country so I’ve experienced different levels of the game.

"Hopefully my team-mates will help me develop and settle in quickly at the club. I can't wait to meet all of them when I report for pre-season training.

"Swansea are a solid club who have big ambitions - last season confirmed that - and it’s great for me to be a part of it."

The 27-year-old boasts 18 caps for Portugal and scored his first international goal against Italy last month.

Eder contributed 10 goals in 29 Primeira Liga appearances last term for Braga. He previously represented Academica in Portugal's top flight.

Danilo: Neymar understands why I chose Real Madrid

    danilo-cropped_185thv9hsmda51fv950cdlohbc.jpg

Real Madrid defender Danilo says former team-mate and Barcelona star Neymar understands his decision to join the club.

The two players played alongside one another for Santos, but Danilo agreed to join Barca's fierce rivals Madrid in March before completing his €31.5 million move at the end of the season.

He told Marca: "I played at Santos with him for a few years, we were a winning partnership; we are friends.

"He knows better than anyone that these things are down to the individual, that everyone has to decide their own future. It was my personal decision and he respects that".

Danilo has already spoken to new Madrid boss Rafa Benitez and is keen to hit the ground running next term."I have spoken with Benitez on the phone," he told Marca. "I told him how my recovery was going and we talked a little about the new challenge.

"It was a short conversation, but showed me that he cared for me and that made me very happy.

"Any player should feel very proud of your work if you play for Real Madrid, the world's largest club. To play in Madrid is like another dimension, you must be the best, this was always my dream."
