Juventus will never sign Isco or Oscar - Marotta

    isco_fhyflhrxjikd188f7hj51pprh.jpg

Juventus managing director Giuseppe Marotta has warned that signing Isco or Oscar this summer will be impossible.

Bianconeri coach Massimiliano Allegri recently admitted he was a big admirer of both players, but Marotta says there is no chance either player will end up at the club."We are looking for a midfielder to add to our squad, though not necessarily a particular type of midfielder," he told Quotidiano Sportivo.

"They will join an eclectic group of midfielders that include Paul Pogba, Claudio Marchisio, Sami Khedira and Roberto Pereyra. Paulo Dybala can play in attacking midfield, too.

"Isco and Oscar are both stellar players, but in the case of Juventus – unfortunately, for now – we will never be able to sign them."

Marotta also stressed that the future of Pogba depends entirely on the player, with the club having rejected a recent €80 million bid from Barcelona."In modern football, the decision of the player is paramount," he added. "Look at Tevez, for instance [who Juve let return to his boyhood club Boca Juniors this summer].

"It's obvious we would like to keep Pogba, but we cannot afford to give him a crazy salary whereas some clubs can pay him almost twice as much."

De Bruyne: I will not force Wolfsburg to sell me

    1723522_heroa.jpg

Kevin De Bruyne insists he will not force Wolfsburg to sell him but admits he can’t ignore interest from Manchester City.

Goal understands that City are confident of wrapping up a deal for the 24-year-old before the end of the window but are prepared to wait as neither the player or Wolfsburg want to push through a deal.

Wolfsburg’s sporting director Klaus Allofs admitted on Saturday that club would “deal with an offer out of respect for the player”, despite stating earlier this summer that he had no plans to sell the midfielder.

“As a player I have never created problems and I’m not going to start,” De Bruyne told reporters.

“A lot of respect should come from all sides. That’s always the best solution.

“Of course you can’t ignore it. Everyone knows the teams. They all play for the title. That is not nothing.

“But at this moment I have not heard that there is a bid for me.

“If an offer does come, I will hear about it and how much it is, but I have not yet heard anything.”

The Belgium international was sold by Chelsea 19 months ago after failing to secure a regular first-team place under Jose Mourinho but is adamant that his motivation for returning to England will not be because he wants to prove himself in the Premier League.

“I would not go to England just to prove that I can play there. I do not have to go to England,” said the midfielder.

“If I go there it’s because for me and for my family it is a good choice. That’s the key for me.”

When asked about his potential valuation, De Bruyne replied: “That’s such a difficult question in football, how much are you worth?

“You cannot just stick a figure on it. The team pays it — as much as you are worth at that time.

“Eighteen months ago, people were talking about ten million, now suddenly I’m fifty or sixty. It will be somewhere in between.”

Robben: I'm angry and happy with Bayern return

    arjen-robben-bayern-munich_1o2xzvdzbvfbr12sd34vilu3fy.jpg

Arjen Robben said he was both angry and happy after making a goalscoring return to action in Bayern Munich's defeat to Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's side lost the DFL-Supercup for the third successive season, this time being held to a 1-1 draw by Dieter Hecking's men before being beaten in a penalty shootout.

Robben, who has been sidelined with injuries since March, was delighted to be playing again but frustrated that his second-half effort was cancelled out by Nicklas Bendtner's late strike.

"The game had two opposing sides for me," the 31-year-old winger is quoted as saying to Abendzeitung Munchen. "On the one hand, I am angry and frustrated that we didn't win. But on the other hand, I'm very happy to be back.

"Considering it was my first game in around four or five months, I felt good. I am on the right path, not yet at 100 per cent. I need more rhythm, but in the second half my football was at a really good level."We played well but were not rewarded, which is very annoying. We deserved the win. But I'm staying positive, there are still three major titles in 2015-16 to win – so let's go!"

Robben scored one of Bayern's penalties in the shootout but Xabi Alonso's miss proved costly as Wolfsburg converted all five, with substitute Bendtner fittingly scoring the winning spot kick.

Rakitic: Barcelona will win when it matters

    ivan-rakitic-chelsea-barcelona-international-champions-cup_1kckncoxf0w6f19fmarhpafd7h.jpg

Ivan Rakitic has played down Barcelona's pre-season losing streak by stressing the team will get results when it matters. Two goals from Federico Bernardeschi consigned Luis Enrique's men to a 2-1 defeat at Fiorentina on Sunday, meaning they have now lost three games in a row.

Rakitic, who provided a great assist for Luis Suarez's goal, attempted to take positives from the match and is certain the club will soon return to winning ways.

"The team always want to win and in general we performed very good against Fiorentina," the 27-year-old told reporters after the match.

"We could have scored more goals but it wasn't to be today, though it's more important we turn up in big games."The most important thing right now is we return to our usual rhythm and gain confidence, as it always is in pre-season."

Next up for Barca is another clash with Italian opposition, this time at Camp Nou, as they face Roma in the annual Joan Gamper trophy on Wednesday. Then on August 11 they kick off their competitive campaign when they take on Sevilla in the Uefa Super Cup.

Milan a threat to Juventus dominance - Marchisio

    claudio-marchisio-juventus_1xinlvr8wib1r1l10f9a62q0m3.jpg

Claudio Marchisio has predicted that AC Milan will provide Juventus with their toughest competition for the Scudetto this season.

The Bianconeri have won four Serie A titles in a row since the Rossoneri triumphed under Massimiliano Allegri (who now coaches Juve) in 2011.After finishing 10th last season under Filippo Inzaghi, Milan sacked the coach and hired Sinisa Mihajlovic as his replacement.

A string of high-profile signings including Carlos Bacca, Luiz Adriano and Andrea Bertolacci have since arrived, with Marchisio noting the potential threat they could pose.

"If I had to guess who would be our main opposition this season, I'd go Milan because of their history and who they are," the midfielder told La Stampa. "It is also because for many years they have not won now."It's normal that we've been tagged as favourites because we've won four years on the trot. But such talk is not in our nature to take seriously. We know it will be difficult, as it was last season."

Juve, meanwhile, head into next season having sold three of their best players, with Carlos Tevez joining Boca Juniors, Arturo Vidal leaving for Bayern Munich and Andrea Pirlo moving to New York City FC"Pirlo, Vidal and Tevez were key players but it is normal that after years with us there are changes," Marchisio added. "It's a case of bringing in new blood, really.

"It will increase the responsibility for players such as myself. The core of this team has stayed, I think, and other top players are being brought in from elsewhere."

Manchester United's Rafael closes in on Lyon move

    1724032_heroa.jpg

Lyon are set to complete a deal for Manchester United right-back Rafael, according to the French club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas.

The 25-year-old Brazilian featured just 11 times under Louis van Gaal last term and was not part of United’s squad for their pre-season tour of the United States last month.

Rafael has now travelled to France in order to finalise to Ligue 1.

“Rafael has arrived and we expect to reach an agreement with Manchester United. He’s a cheerful Brazilian!” Aulas posted on Twitter.

In July, Rafael’s agent had claimed that United had offered the defender to Benfica as part of a potential deal for Nicolas Gaitan.

Atletico are back - Koke warns Barcelona and Madrid

    koke_1thfeyjasc1by15bfy7wymfy12.jpg

Koke has warned Barcelona and Real Madrid that Atletico Madrid have the quality to win La Liga after a successful summer transfer window.

Atletico broke Barca and Madrid's stranglehold on the division in 2013, only to finish fourth last season as the Catalans lifted the title. However, the club have made a number of additions to their squad, with Jackson Martinez arriving from Porto and Luciano Vietto moving to the Vicente Calderon.

Koke, who scored from a corner-kick on Saturday in Atletico's 1-1 draw against Sagan Tosu, thinks the new arrivals can help spark another title charge this season.
"The team are training well and working really, really hard, and I believe that this season we can compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona," the 23-year-old, told i3 Sports.

"Last year we finished as champions, but in the past season it was Barcelona and Real Madrid all over again.

"We’ve had a lot of good changes recently, so I think that this season we can do something important. I really think the new players can bring some positive changes to the team."Atletico face Shanghai SIPG on Tuesday before kicking off their competitive campaign with a home tie against newly-promoted Las Palmas on August 22.

Ramsey: Pressure on Arsenal to win trophies is nothing new

    aaronramsey-cropped_1ffcvwp3ybtjl1ec8gj10jamdx.jpg

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey says the pressure on his teammates to win major trophies is "nothing new" and believes the club can achieve big things in 2015-16.

The domestic season in England got underway at Wembley on Sunday, with the Gunners defending the Community Shield by beating Chelsea 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Arsene Wenger's men lifted the FA Cup for the second year running last term and despite ending the campaign 12 points adrift of champions Chelsea, Ramsey is confident of closing the gap."There's always pressure on Arsenal to go out and win games and win trophies. It's nothing new to us as players," the 24-year-old said.

"We know what we're capable of doing. We have a great team, a great squad. So we're just excited as well about what this season may hold for us. We all feel confident that we can achieve something this year."

The North Londoners begin their campaign at home to West Ham before an away trip to Crystal Palace and the Welshman acknowledges the significance of building early form."It's important just to go into the start of the season focused on these games and to get off to a good start, because that's what we lacked last season.

"If we do that and keep everybody fit we'll have a good chance. We have to get off to a good start because last season Chelsea were strong throughout the season and they stayed top for basically the whole season.

"Hopefully everybody can have a successful and fit season. Competition is good and we have a lot of quality and strength in depth."

David Luiz: I would like future MLS move

    david-luiz-brazil-training_1q1pit3vgvdml15shialv26e6h.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain centre-back David Luiz has revealed he could well join an MLS club before the end of his career after tipping America to be a leading division within five years.

Andrea Pirlo, Steven Gerrard, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard are just three players who have swapped top-level football in Europe for contracts at clubs such as New York City, LA Galaxy and Montreal Impact in 2015.

Luiz's PSG have played across Canada and USA in recent weeks as they prepared for 2015-16 with a number of friendly matches against the likes of Manchester United, Benfica and Chelsea.

The Ligue 1 side beat Lyon 2-0 in the Trophee des Champions on Saturday at a packed MLS stadium and afterwards the Brazil defender admitted he can see himself playing in North America later in his career.

"In five or six years, MLS will be one of the biggest leagues in the world," the 28-year-old told GQ Magazine. "Just look at the standard of players it's attracting. It will be the future of many of us."I believe that my career may very well go through the United States. It's fascinating how into football they are. We've seen the full stadiums in our friendly matches, it's madness."

David Luiz has a contract at Parc des Princes until June 30, 2019, having joined from Chelsea for €50 million last summer.

Confirmed: Khedira out injured for two months

    1696252_heroa.jpg

Sami Khedira has been sidelined for two months with a thigh injury, Juventus have confirmed.

The midfielder has struggled with fitness and form for the last couple of seasons, culminating in him leaving Real Madrid for the Scudetto holders on a free transfer this summer after spending much of 2014-15 on the bench.

Khedira suffered the latest blow on Saturday when he was stretchered off in the first half of Juve's 2-0 defeat to Marseille, and Massimiliano Allegri had confirmed the he would at least miss the Supercoppa Italiana on August 8.

However, the Champions League runners-up have now confirmed the injury will see Khedira miss a lot more than just the clash between Juventus and Lazio this coming Saturday, ruling him out of the first seven Serie A matches of 2015-16.

"Sami Khedira will be sidelined for approximately two months after medical examinations revealed a second-grade myotendinous tear of the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh," the Bianconeri said in a statement on their website on Monday.

"The German midfielder sustained the injury during Saturday's pre-season friendly against Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome."

Reports in Italy have suggested Juventus could try to sign Barcelona's Javier Mascherano as cover in the defensive midfield department, in addition to their search for a new attacking midfielder.

Can: Firmino will be decisive for Liverpool

    fichajes-verano_iqkk8ifqrk7c1iwmno3dk5e1j.jpg

Liverpool star Emre Can says Brazil international Roberto Firmino can be decisive for the Premier League club this season.

Firmino joined the English club from Hoffenheim last month after breaking into the national team for last year’s Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour clashes against Turkey and Switzerland.

The 23-year-old went on to hit four goals in ten appearances for the Selecao, dislodging Diego Tardelli as coach Dunga’s first-choice centre forward, and made his long-awaited Liverpool debut in the English club’s 2-1 victory over Swindon Town on Sunday.

“He is a very, very good player – he scores a lot of great goals, and that’s what we need,” Can told the club website.“He plays like a lot of Brazilians – he’s a fighter, and technically very strong and capable, and that can only help win matches for us.”

Firmino played 67 minutes of the match after being given extended leave following Brazil’s Copa America campaign which ended in a quarter-final defeat to Paraguay.

And he impressed new coach Brendan Rodgers, who revealed he is pleased with the forward’s progress ahead of the new season.“You see his quality. He is really bright on the ball, has got wonderful technique and has got the ability to want to get forward and score a goal,” Rodgers said.

“For those players it was just getting them into that game situation, which is never easy as they have only been back a week or so. But they adapted and coped very well.”

Fiorentina warn Roma: Salah is ours

    mohamed-salah-chelsea-13042014_1o4rlnw4b94ap1vik054erbaca.jpg

Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle has warned rivals Roma that Mohamed Salah is contracted to the Florence club.

The contractual ownership of the Egyptian forward has become a complicated matter this summer, with the Viola embroiled in a bitter battle with the player and his agent.

Fiorentina are looking to secure Salah on a permanent basis after last season's impressive loan from Chelsea, but he refused to turn up to training and his agent said he would not be returning to the Artemio Franchi.

Della Valle had already claimed that "lawyers will solve" the debate about who owns Salah's rights following confirmation from the Serie A side that they would be suing the 24-year-old for breach of contract.

Jose Mourinho has stated there's no way Salah is staying at Stamford Bridge and Roma have emerged as the frontrunners to sign him, though Della Valle was keen to stress he's still a Fiorentina player.

"We have a contract in our possession that we will exercise," the Fiorentina chief told Corriere dello Sport when asked about Salah joining another club. "The player was persuaded into agreeing to this action by his agent."Della Valle also commented on the lack of transfer arrivals this summer for Paulo Sousa's men, who defeated Barcelona 2-1 on Sunday thanks to early efforts from Federico Bernardeschi.

"Soon all the scepticism will go away," he added. "I am convinced this new era with Sousa after sacking Vincenzo Montella will be a success. The transfer window runs until August 31, there's time."I ask fans to continue to believe in me. When you swap coaches, it's normal to have a few weeks of adaptation. All around us are teams awash with money, too."

Referencing Bee Taechaubol's purchase of 48 per cent of AC Milan, Della Valle added: "The big teams have all strengthened and I'm happy for Silvio Berlusconi as it'll be a lot easier for Milan to navigate the market with an extra €400 million."
