Coman wants to stay at Bayern forever

    kingsley-coman-cropped_1xfkyalm0jesa1bx9qzeyjde77.jpg

Bayern Munich attacker Kingsley Coman admits he wants to stay with the Bundesliga champions for the remainder of his career.

The France international joined Bayern from Juventus on a two-year loan deal at the start of the season for a fee of €7 million and has become an vital first-team member at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern have an option to make Coman's stay at the club permanent for an additional €21m at any time up until 30 April 2017 and the 19-year-old is keen to remain at his current club."Players with successful careers often don't make too many transfers," Coman told Telefoot.

"I am already at one of the three best clubs in the world, so I would not mind it at all to stay at Bayern my entire career."

Coman played a key role in Bayern's Champions League last-16 win over Juventus in midweek, setting up Thomas Muller's equaliser in the final seconds of normal time in Wednesday's second leg before netting to make it 4-2 in extra-time the Bavarians won 6-4 on aggregate. He added: "The win over Juventus is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me during my professional career. It was the most beautiful game I have taken part in.

"Pep Guardiola told me to give my all and to try to force something when he brought me on. I think Guardiola is the best coach in the world from a tactical point of view. I can only thank him for all he has done for me so far."I always give my all to improve as a player and I feel that I am getting better every day."

    2861512_heroa.jpg

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon now holds the record for minutes without conceding a goal in Serie A, having broken Sebastiano Rossi's long-standing record.

Although a penalty from Torino's Andrea Belotti ultimately ended his run during the derby, the Italy international set a remarkable benchmark.Goal takes a look at some of the numbers that have seen him reach this point...

974 - The number of minutes Buffon went unbeaten in Serie A

10 - The number of successive clean sheets the goalkeeper has achieved: a new Italian record in the top flight

21 - The number of shots on target he has faced before he was beaten

22 - Saves during the unbeaten run

3 - Inter, Udinese and Atalanta have all managed three shots on target in single games - Buffon had not had to face a greater number during his clean sheet sequence

2.17 - The average number of shots on goal Buffon has faced in Serie A during 2015-16

4 - The most saves Buffon has made in a single game was against Udinese on January 17

9 - The number of saves made from shots taken inside the box

13 - The number of saves made from shots taken outside the box

76.56% - Buffon's save percentage in Serie A during 2015-16 prior to facing Torino

67.44% - Buffon's save percentage in Serie A during 2015-16 before the unbeaten streak

Hodgson: Shaw could still make Euro 2016

    lukeshaw-cropped_19daq15lmg30o1e9s2yxahhnko.jpg

England manager Roy Hodgson remains hopeful of having injured left-back Luke Shaw at Euro 2016, but says Manchester United will play a big part in whether he is available.Shaw, 20, has been sidelined since September, when he suffered a broken leg following a shocking tackle from PSV defender Hector Moreno.

However, Hodgson still believes Shaw could be available for the European Championship in June and July.

"Luke's in the same position as Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshere," he told reporters."Luke Shaw's a player we believe in, we think is an excellent talent. We think he will be a major competitor with the other left-backs for a place in the squad."All that remains is for him to get fit enough to be selected."Hodgson said just whether Shaw could feature at the tournament would ultimately depend on United and manager Louis van Gaal.

The former Southampton defender would need to prove his fitness before Hodgson names his squad on May 12."If they decide they don't want to risk him in the final games, they want to hold him back, they want to give him a pre-season to get 100 per cent fit, there's not much I can do," Hodgson said.

"I would understand it, but I would be a little bit disappointed in that I think the player deserves the opportunity if he is fully fit to be given a chance of being selected.

"Luke did not put a timescale on it when I spoke to him."We'll keep a very close eye on the matter and the moment he's back playing, if it's before May 12, he'll join that long list of players that I will choose from."

Iniesta ruled out of Barcelona's clash with Villarreal

    andresiniesta-cropped_1uyiha7ah35nf117amr3wuephl.jpg

Andres Iniesta has been ruled out of Barcelona's La Liga showdown with Villarreal, the Spanish champions confirmed.Iniesta was not included in Barca's 18-man squad for their trip to El Madrigal due to "minor fitness concerns".

Barca coach Luis Enrique had raised doubts over the 31-year-old captain's availability during his news conference on Saturday."Iniesta is feeling some discomfort. We will see how he feels and if he can play," said Enrique.

"We are not going to risk him. His injury is nothing serious, but we will see how he feels in training."Iniesta played in Barcelona's 3-1 win over Arsenal in the Champions League midweek as the title holders progressed to the quarter-finals.

Barcelona travel to Villarreal looking to extend their lead at the top of the table following Atletico Madrid's shock 2-1 loss to Sporting Gijon.

Newcastle United 1-1 Sunderland: Mitrovic denies Black Cats derby victory

    2880102_heroa.jpg

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a dramatic late equaliser to earn Newcastle United a 1-1 draw and deny Sunderland a seventh consecutive derby victory.

Sam Allardyce's men looked like they were on course to strike a major blow in the battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League at St James' Park, but Mitrovic headed in with seven minutes remaining to end the streak.

Sunderland had taken the lead one minute before half-time when Jermain Defoe scored his 12th league goal of the season with a volley after Newcastle had been unable to deal with a corner.

The hosts struggled for fluency throughout Rafa Benitez's first home game in charge, but Ayoze Perez had an attempt cleared off the line by Yann M'Vila, before Mitrovic's late intervention ensured the match finished level.

An end to the astonishing sequence of six straight Tyne-Wear derby wins for Sunderland over their closest rivals keeps both teams in the bottom three with eight matches left to save themselves.

Sunderland sit two points behind Norwich City and Newcastle are three behind, but both sides hold a game in hand over Alex Neil's men and the Magpies visit Carrow Road after the international break.

Despite Sunderland's late disappointment, Allardyce has overseen only one defeat in six games. Benitez, meanwhile, will hope to build on a draw which means he has not lost his first home match in charge at any of his last seven clubs.

There were decent chances for both sides in the early stages, with the recalled Defoe firing one shot over and another better opening into the side netting after Jack Rodwell's cutback.

Rodwell himself had a powerful header saved by Rob Elliot having latched on to Wahbi Khazri's free-kick, while Andros Townsend – one of two players brought in by Newcastle along with Chancel Mbemba - forced Vito Mannone to parry his long-range strike at the other end.

Jonjo Shelvey shot just wide from a good free-kick opportunity at the edge of the area for Benitez's side and Khazri did the same for Sunderland from a more ambitious distance.

It was Sunderland who made the breakthrough one minute before half-time when a clever Khazri corner found Fabio Borini, whose powerful shot was repelled by Elliot. Mbemba could only head clear as far as Defoe and the striker converted a first-time left-footed volley from just outside the six-yard box.

Newcastle were almost level at the start of the second half. Townsend's corner was flicked on by Mitrovic and then steered towards goal by Perez, but M'Vila made a crucial clearance off the goal-line.An end-to-end derby saw Elliot keep the hosts in it by make a brilliant one-handed save to deny Patrick van Aanholt after Khazri's determined run into the penalty area created the opening.

Benitez introduced Siem de Jong, Vurnon Anita and Papiss Cisse – the latter returning after three months out – in an attempt to find a leveller, which arrived just as home fans were beginning to lose hope.

Georginio Wijnaldum created the chance with a deep cross from the right, with Mitrovic doing the rest by heading back across goal and into the far corner to send the St James' Park crowd wild.

Southampton 3-2 Liverpool: Mane the star in comeback win

    2880092_heroa.jpg

Substitute Sadio Mane made amends for missing a penalty by netting a double to help Southampton battle from two goals down and beat Liverpool 3-2 at St Mary's in a Premier League thriller.

The Senegal international was only available to manager Ronald Koeman after having his red card against Stoke City last weekend overturned and put in a dramatic performance after coming off the bench at half-time.

Mane first failed to convert a spot-kick shortly after the interval before atoning halfway through the second half by pegging back the visitors.

Graziano Pelle levelled for Southampton with seven minutes left and there was more drama to come as Mane scored the winner in the 86th minute.

Liverpool - who were without the injured Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson – looked to be cruising at 2-0 up thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge in the first half, but were left to rue what could have been as their top-four ambitions took a major blow.

Virgil van Dijk headed just wide in the sixth minute after a dangerous corner from the left, before Shane Long was unfortunate not be handed a penalty after he was seemingly brought down inside the area by Dejan Lovren.

Pelle then volleyed over the crossbar after a quick one-two with Steven Davis, with Long's shot blocked by Lovren shortly after as Southampton pushed hard for the opener.

Yet it was Liverpool who went a goal up against the run of play when Coutinho found the net in the 17th minute. The Brazilian picked up the ball down the left after Southampton lost possession in midfield, cut inside and beat Fraser Forster with a sublime long-range strike that curled low beyond the England goalkeeper.

Things got even worse for the home side five minutes later as the visitors struck again via Sturridge. Divock Origi set up his fellow forward inside the box after yet another quick breakaway and Sturridge beat Forster with a left-footed strike into the far corner.

Liverpool continued to cause Southampton all kinds of trouble with their counter-attacks and Forster came out on top after a one-on-one with Joe Allen.

Allen thought he had made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute when he fired home after a corner, only for the referee Roger East to disallow the effort for offside.

Southampton had the perfect chance to pull one back early in the second half when East awarded them a penalty following a foul from Martin Skrtel on Pelle, but Simon Mignolet pulled off a superb save to deny Mane from the spot.

Mane, however, did find a way past Mignolet just after the hour. A poor touch from Jon Flanagan allowed Pelle to set up the Senegal international inside the area and he beat Mignolet with an emphatic finish into the right corner.

Christian Benteke, who had come on to replace Sturridge, missed a gilt-edged opportunity to restore his side's two-goal lead when he fired just wide with 15 minutes left.

The hosts fought hard and were eventually rewarded for their courageous display in the 83rd minute when Pelle shot home from the edge of the box to make it 2-2.

The home fans were sent into raptures when Southampton netted a winner as Pelle eventually found Mane following a poor clearance from Mignolet and he coolly slotted in to complete an incredible comeback that prompted Koeman to charge down the touchline and celebrate with his players.

Torino 1-4 Juventus: Buffon breaks record in derby rout

    2879652_heroa.jpg

Gianluigi Buffon set a new Serie A record for the longest run without conceding a goal as leaders Juventus took another step towards retaining their title with a 4-1 derby win at Torino.

The veteran goalkeeper had kept 10 clean sheets in a row in the league, but could not extend the streak to 11 and his record was set at 974 minutes, breaking the previous mark of 929 minutes set by Sebastiano Rossi.Paul Pogba put Juventus ahead after 32 minutes, bending a terrific free-kick over the wall and into Daniele Padelli's top-left corner.

Sami Khedira doubled Juve's lead shortly before half-time, rounding off a powerful run with a precise finish, and Buffon was finally beaten when Andrea Belotti scored a penalty after the break.

Torino had the ball in the net again when Maxi Lopez beat Buffon, but the assistant adjudged him to have been in an offside position and Alvaro Morata sealed the points with a brace.

Khedira was shown a straight red card for dissent with three minutes left on an otherwise fine afternoon for Juve, who go six points clear of Napoli, in action later on Sunday against Genoa.

Striker Paulo Dybala returned from a calf injury for the champions, but Claudio Marchisio and Giorgio Chiellini missed out, while Torino started former Juve striker Ciro Immobile up front.

Buffon made Serie A history after four minutes with the ball deep in Torino territory, before Marco Benassi headed over from 10 yards.

The league leaders looked flat after their midweek Champions League extra-time exit to Bayern Munich and Buffon was soon forced into a full-length stop from Benassi's 20-yard low shot.

Dybala's comeback lasted only 32 minutes before Juve's top goalscorer limped off and was replaced by Morata, with the opening goal arriving against the run of play moments later.

Pogba took over set-piece duties with Dybala off the field and he beat Padelli with a superb curling free-kick from 25 yards.

The France international was almost at it again soon afterwards, but this time Padelli made a good save.Khedira appeared to put Juve firmly in control after 41 minutes, driving through a huge gap in the Torino defence and slipping a shot beyond Padelli.

Torino, though, got one back immediately after the break, Belotti converting a spot-kick after Alex Sandro clumsily brought down Bruno Peres. The hosts thought they had equalised after 58 minutes when scored from a Peres throughball, but the goal was wrongly disallowed for offside, with the half-time substitute Lopez level.

That decision proved key as Juve soon restored their two-goal cushion when brilliant play by Pogba teed up Morata for a calm finish.Torino, who have now only won just one of the last 20 derbies against Juve, pressed and Buffon saved well from Lopez, but Morata made sure of his side's victory with 14 minutes to go.

Pogba's free-kick hit the wall and the ball deflected into Morata's path for a simple goal and Juve, who played out the game with 10 men following Khedira's late red card for speaking out, moved closer to a fifth successive league title.

:cool:Unbeaten for 973 minutes - history-maker Buffon is the greatest goalkeeper of all time

    2836222_heroa.jpg

During a question and answer session with young Juventus fans last year, a boy stood up and introduced himself as Lorenzo from Parma.

"Here's my question," he began. "Why did you decide to go down to Serie B with Juventus [in 2006] when you were a World Cup winner, given so many other teams wanted you?"

"Hi Lorenzo," Buffon replied. "Say hello to Parma for me when you go home – it always has a place in my heart.

"I chose to drop down into Serie B with Juve because I thought of you. I thought about you because, in football, we talk a lot. But I firmly believe in certain moments you need to replace words with deeds."

Buffon has spent his entire career letting his football do the talking for him. When former Parma coach Nevio Scala came to him on November 18, 1995 and told him that he would be making his professional debut against AC Milan the following day, the then 17-year-old simply replied: "No problem, coach."

The following afternoon, Buffon turned in one of the most memorable goalkeeping performances ever seen in Serie A, making save after save as Parma earned an unexpected 0-0 draw against a side spearheaded by George Weah and Roberto Baggio.

Yet Buffon barely celebrated afterwards. Even when the press came looking for a soundbite from the new teenage sensation, he simply thanked Scala and Parma for the faith that they had shown on him. "It was as if he had done the most normal thing in the world," former team-mate Alessandro Melli revealed. "Almost as if he had not realised what he had done."

Despite the fact that Buffon would go on to become the most expensive goalkeeper in history when he left Parma for Juventus in 2001 and then a World Cup winner with Italy five years later, he never lost his humility.

When Juve were relegated due to their involvement in the Calciopoli scandal, Buffon rejected the advances of Inter, AC Milan and Arsenal. "If I have become world champion, it is thanks to Juve," he said at the time. "I can cope with a year in the second division and I will look to do something new by winning the Serie B title."

A man of his word, Buffon played a key role in Juve's triumphant return to Serie A at the very first attempt. His loyalty has never, and will never, be forgotten by Bianconeri fans. But it is typical of the man. He has never forgotten where he has come from. It is why he made a point of referencing Parma in the aforementioned Q&A session. It is why he invested money in his hometown club of Carrarese. And it is also why he greeted Federico Bernardeschi like a brother when his fellow Carrara native was invited to train with the Italy squad.

"He hugged me two or three times,” the stunned Fiorentina starlet told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "It was a great feeling. I had goosebumps."

Such acts of kindness and generosity are admirable on a purely human level but, according to former AC Milan No.1 Giovanni Galli, key to what makes Buffon such a great goalkeeper. When asked earlier this week what sets Buffon apart from his peers, Galli replied, "His character, which is the most important thing for a goalkeeper."

Certainly, when Buffon was at Parma, Scala, Melli and others noticed a maturity that belied his tender age. Yet nowadays, Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri regularly praises Buffon for retaining the enthusiasm of a youngster, believing it has been key to the 38-year-old's ability to maintain such on-field excellence for the past two decades.

Buffon's drive has undoubtedly been integral to him retaining such an important role for both club and country. As Juve midfielder Claudio Marchisio said after last weekend's win over Sassuolo, “Gigi is very important in the locker room as well as on the pitch, both as a captain and a man. He proves his professionalism and desire to improve every single day."

It is for this reason that he is such an icon to so many. Paul Pogba admitted during his first year at Juve that only after seeing how Buffon approached every single training session with such passion did he realise what level of dedication was required to reach the very top. Neymar confessed last year that he used to regularly pick Juventus when on his Playstation just so that he could be Buffon.

It is the respect of his rivals that is most telling, though. Buffon has humbly claimed that Iker Casillas is the greatest goalkeeper of his era yet the Spanish shot-stopper says that the Italian has always been his inspiration. "Anyone of my generation who dreamt of becoming a goalkeeper had the goal of emulating him," the former Real Madrid No.1 stated.
There are things that Buffon has achieved, though, that will likely never be emulated. Marks that will never be passed. On Sunday, against Torino, the Juventus skipper broke Sebastiano Rossi's Serie A record of 929 minutes without conceding a goal. He was ultimately beaten, albeit by a penalty, 973 minutes after he last picked the ball from his net.

It is a remarkable achievement but perhaps the fact that he overtook Dino Zoff's tally of 903 minutes last weekend was even more symbolic, given it is with Italy's 1982 World Cup-winning captain that Buffon is so often compared. "Two absolute leaders," Galli says, "men guiding the whole team."

Buffon has had his ups and down, most infamously in 2013 when Franz Beckenbauer labelled him a "pensioner" after a costly mistake in Juve's Champions League quarter-final loss at Bayern Munich. Yet here he is, once again on the verge of making history.

"He's the best goalkeeper of all time," former Juventus team-mate David Trezeguet argued. "I don't see anyone who has had the continuity Buffon has for the last 20 years."

"That he is still playing at such a high level [at 38] is indeed truly remarkable. I cannot explain how he does it," Trezeguet confessed.

Italy coach Antonio Conte agrees: “Finding the words to describe Gigi is tough."

But then, why bother? As Buffon proved once again on Sunday, actions speak far louder than words.

Rashford breaks Rooney's Manchester derby record

    2880802_heroa.jpg

Marcus Rashford is breaking records again as the striker found the net against City to nudge ahead of Wayne Rooney as the youngest scorer in a Manchester derby in the Premier League era.

Rooney was 19 when he struck in his side's 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium back in 2005, with Rashford's opening goal past Joe Hart on Sunday ensuring he is almost a year younger than the currently-sidelined United skipper...

Villarreal 2-2 Barcelona: Liga leaders pegged back after Rakitic & Neymar strikes

    2880682_heroa.jpg

La Liga leaders Barcelona threw away a two-goal lead as they failed to take full advantage of Atletico Madrid's slip-up, drawing 2-2 at Villarreal on Sunday.

With Atletico suffering a surprise 2-1 defeat to Sporting Gijon on Saturday, Barca had the chance to stretch their advantage at the top to 11 points.

And Luis Enrique's side looked to be in pole position to do just that as Ivan Rakitic's fifth league goal of the season put them ahead before Neymar doubled the lead in contentious fashion.

After Villarreal coach Marcelino had been sent to the stands, Neymar made it 2-0 with a chipped penalty, putting their recent woes from the spot to rest following a seemingly harsh decision to punish goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo for a foul on the forward. But Luis Enrique's decision to take off Gerard Pique and Arda Turan early in the second half proved pivotal as Barca struggled to reorganise at the back.

Cedric Bakambu took advantage by netting from close range in the 57th minute, with the comeback completed six minutes later when Pique's replacement Jeremy Mathieu bundled into his own net.

Villarreal almost broke the deadlock inside two minutes thanks to excellent work down the left from Bakambu, whose cross was deflected against the inside of the post.Rakitic fired wide in the 10th minute as he failed to take advantage of Barca's first real attacking opportunity.

But 10 minutes later the Croatia international atoned for that earlier miss, opening the scoring by tucking home with a simple finish after the hosts had failed to deal with a Lionel Messi free-kick.Having seen his side's decent start wasted, a furious Marcelino was sent to the stands for protesting a yellow card shown to Villarreal midfielder Bruno.

And Marcelino's mood will have got worse in the 40th minute when referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez pointed to the spot, adjudging Asenjo to have brought down Neymar despite replays suggesting minimal contact.

Neymar stepped up to take the penalty and converted with consummate ease as he deceived Asenjo with a dinked effort that the Villarreal goalkeeper - who elected to dive to his right - could do nothing to prevent from crossing the line.

Manu Trigueros curled over nine minutes after the restart as Villarreal pushed to pull a goal back that arrived in the 57th minute courtesy of Bakambu shortly after Pique and Turan had been withdrawn.

Former Barcelona B winger Denis Suarez hurdled his way over a series of challenges and Claudio Bravo could only parry his effort as far as Bakambu, who tucked home at the near post to give Villarreal hope.

Bravo was then called into action again to deny Samu Castillejo, with Roberto Soldado heading wide from the resulting corner.Asenjo produced a fine diving save to stop Neymar from curling in his second to re-establish Barca's command on the hour mark, and Luis Enrique's men were pegged back shortly after.

Mathieu was the victim of a moment of misfortune, the Frenchman unwittingly deflecting a corner from the right into the bottom-left corner to restore parity for the hosts.

Rakitic spurned a glorious chance to put Barca back in front, slicing over eight minutes from time yet, although the visitors could not regain the lead, they are nine points clear at the top and are now 39 games unbeaten in all competitions.

Tottenham 3-0 Bournemouth: Kane & Co. keep up pressure on Leicester

    2881282_heroa.jpg

Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham cruised to a convincing 3-0 win over Bournemouth and moved back to within five points of Premier League leaders Leicester City.

Kane moved clear at the top of the Premier League scoring charts as he put the hosts into a commanding two-goal lead in the opening 15 minutes, before Christian Eriksen added a third just after half-time.

With Arsenal having closed the gap to three points by beating Everton on Saturday, a strong start was vital and Kane drilled home with just 43 seconds on the clock, before doubling his tally 15 minutes later.

Bournemouth came out fighting in the second half, but the result was swiftly put beyond all doubt as Eriksen capitalised on an error from Artur Boruc to tap-in from close range.

Eddie Howe's side were condemned to their first defeat on the road in 2016 while victory for Spurs – who face Liverpool and Manchester United after the international break – sees them keep pace with Leicester.

Bournemouth had taken the lead in the first minute in the reverse fixture, but it was Tottenham who struck first on this occasion when Kane turned home Kyle Walker's superb cross.

That strike took Kane to the top of the scoring charts, and the striker did not have to wait much longer to rack up a 21st goal of the season as he ran in behind Bournemouth's defence to tuck home an Alli pass.

Pochettino's side believed they had got a third when Alli drove home on the half-volley from close-range, but the strike was disallowed as Kane had strayed offside in the build-up.

Steve Cook headed just over the crossbar as Bournemouth finally managed a meaningful attack shortly before the interval, while Eriksen narrowly missed Kane's cross-cum-shot at the other end.

In a bid to haul his side back into proceedings, Howe made two changes at the interval, introducing Lewis Grabban and Eunan O'Kane in place of Benik Afobe and Harry Arter.

Despite some promising play from the visitors, Tottenham finally got their third seven minutes after the break as Boruc spilled Kane's long-range strike straight into the path of Eriksen, who duly tapped home.
