From where did actually Tamil people came to Sri Lanka ??

Also dont take Racism here, This is just for clearing some facts. Nothing Personal.

The problem is where did they came from ? I mean people mostly in Northern area (Jaffna and ...). Because we all know Tamil people living in mid country are came from India relatively later.

I got this question into the mind by some article i read recently on internet. It could be biased or fake , but it said Tamil people lived in Sri Lanka before Sinhalese came (which said Sinhalese comes from King Vijaya or something )

I strongly believe All people should and can live in harmony in ONE Sri Lanka.

So this is not for making any ethnic conflicts or any thing, just to get a clear idea of historical facts.

im not sure about the evolution of jaffna tamils but according to what i learnt sinhalese were here before the tamils. King Vijaya came from India after he broke up from his family and at that time there were only tribal people living in sri lanka.

A very dangerous predicament bro........make sure you keep a good control over what is discussed here!!!!

My opinion is, according to Mahavamsa, Sinhalese came from North India when Yaksa & Naga tribes were ruling Sri Lanka & Tamils came as invaders from South India centuries later. I personally do not believe this as there are lots of flaws in Mahawamsa!!!

Due to the prevailing situation, it's going to be impossible to find out who came first & all the rest, fact of the matter remains, Veddhas, who hails from the Yaksa & Naga tribes were here before anyone. It’s like Indians for North America & Aboriginal people of Australia……..these original people welcomed & let others, White Caucasians from Europe, Africans, Sri Lankans etc to come & settle in their Land, they came, they developed the country & they live in Harmony. Same should be the case for Sri Lanka, Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims, Burghers & all the rest should live in harmony & develop the Nation which would uplift everyone’s lifestyle including Veddha’s.
This is where the danger is[/B]……………..in this effort……..Sinhalese as the majority has a big job to do……rather than taking the advantage of the numbers & try to discriminate or repress others………..they need to take the leadership in creating the harmony, especially, eliminating the fears of repression from the minds of minorities & develop the nation, building a robust economy………………

In my belief, we still can do it, it’s not too late…….yet we need to sacrifice a lot, work hard…………………..

And rawana who was the ruler in SL even before kuweni and was following god shiva (so he should be a hindu) but i guess he was in raaksha or asura tribe and later followed god shiva.

rama rawana story is in mahabarath.......but ppl in here do accept that rawana was the king in SL during that time. And buddhism was nt there in india or sri lanka at that time.

so I guess some of rawana's followers started following hinduism and it may be the start of spreading hinduism in SL... thats just my personal idea..feel free to correct me.

Helaya -> Siwu Helaya (4 tribes) -> eventually Sinhalaya

King Ravana lived 4500years ago in Sri Lanka. He was a great Rakshasa(ancient Sinhalese tribe) Warrior. His queen was Mandodari, whom challenged to play chess game and defeated king.
King Ravana was a great Ayurvedic physician and musician too. He has children and the eldest one was Indrajith also known as Meghanada who followed his father's steps.


King Ravana's kingdom was Lankapura which is now almost disappeared and remain few areas known as Seegiriya.

King Ravana invented the bow of Violin. He was the first king used an aeroplane. He has written several books too.
He abducted Sita as revenge after Rama and Lakshman ill-treated his sister Surpanaka. However, none of scholars says king Ravana hurt Sita or rape her. She proved it later with Agnipariksha.


King Ravana was a vegan and a nature lover too. According to Lankavatara sutta he was Buddhist and worshipped Kashyapa Buddha.
Today the time has changed and many of us do not know the real history of king Ravana and believe myths without looking for the real history. King Ravana was one of the best emperors found in Sri Lankan History.


There are more than 300 village names related to king Ravana era. In addition, there are some more places and remains of Rama Ravana war in Sri Lanka.

I as a citizen in this country, as a Man and I as a sensible human is simply not interested in finding out the answer !

TRUST ME !! I am not BUDHDIST !!

But isn't Rama - is a pre-incarnation of Lord budhdha ?

so how can Ravana be Budhdhist ? when Budhdha is not even born yet !
