Run ur own FTP Server + ur own website from your own pc and share your files with friends and family

control panel -> add or remove software -> add windows services and components -> click to install IIS server and install (microsoft internet information services) (might need to insert winxp/vista cd)

F1 and search IIS for more help

do NOT use IIS with MS FTP. its too weak and can be easily hacked.
To run your own FTP server, use Filezilla FTP server. Get it from http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=server
Also in your router, forward TCP ports 20 & 21 to your PC so that connections from outside can connect to your FTP server.

try apachy or any other freeware ftp servers.
to install and run a ftp or webserver from ur own pc u need to configure port forwarding settings for your router. otherwise router will block all the incoming trafic requests. read more abt port forwarding, virutal server config, and DMZ settings from universtity of google
