Here is my opinion on the presidential election. I think the despite winning the local elections, Mahinda or one of his candidates has no chance in winning 2020. They simply have not accumulated enough votes to beat a common candidate that UNP and others might come up with together. The results of local elections can be completely overturned in less than a year.

Don't forget that Mahinda's party dominantly won the 2014 provincial election too. Which gave Mahinda the false confidence that he might win the presidential election too

Here is my opinion on the presidential election. I think the despite winning the local elections, Mahinda or one of his candidates has no chance in winning 2020. 5.පොදු ප්‍රවාහනය,ස්යුකය,අධ්‍යාපනය මට්ටම අවුලෙන් අවුලට පත්වනු ඇත. (බොහෝ විට තව දුරටත් පුද්ගලික අංශයට නතුවී ඉහල අගයකට විකිනෙනු ඇත )
හේතු: ආර්ථික දිලිඳු බව

1. ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝදනය නැවත කරලියට පැමින සම්මත වනු ඇත. ඒ ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝදනය තුල බුදුදහමට ඇති තැන අහිමිවීම හා ෆෙඩරල් අනිවාර්යයෙන් එකට හෝ වෙන වෙනම පැමිනනු ඇත.
හේතු: IMF හා World Bank ණය වාරික ලබා ගැනීම උදෙසා ඒවා නැති නම් රට පවත්වා ගත නොහැක.

3 රාජ්‍ය දේපල වලින් ඉදිරි ශතයක තුල තව දුරටත් විකිනනු ඇත. ඉන් නොනැවතී පාරසරික සම්පත් ද (සිංහරජය වැනි ) විකිනනු ඇත
හේතු: ණය දීමේ සීමා හා මුදල් නාස්තිය නිසා රට පාලනයට අවශ්‍ය මුදල් සපයා ගැනීම

Machan Mahinda didn't win this election because he gained more votes over the years. If you analyze the past election results, the numbers honestly have not changed much. The reason Mahinda won is because Maithri and UNP decided to contest separately. This is nothing but a false illusion. If they get back together, they can surpass his numbers easily in the upcoming elections. This is why I believe he has no chance in winning 2020

The reason Pohottuwa won is due to the best and popular (and bad) local council candidates are with Pohottuwa and Hon. M. Rajapaksa's popular රැල්ල...

Plus, UNP aanduwata wiruddawa gena giya campaign walata wiruddhawa chandaya use kara godak aya.. and Pohottuwa thamai 2nd best hitiye so eyalata kohomath chandaya dannawa..
