Remember, nVidia will have a dual chip (dual card I think) card by then...

The problem with Geforce 8 is the drivers. The problem with HD 2900XT is AMD's ego!! :frown:

the thing we need is something like Intel's innovation... the geforce 8 series recommends 625watt psu... man thats a lot... when i saw the performance/watt info on the C2D procs, i was amazed... when i saw that a 6300 would consume less power than my low range 3000+

ATi's image quality was better than Nvdia counterparts 2 generations earlier.. there is no tangible proof that 2900 series gpus perform better than the 8800 series quality wise

Yes because HD2900XT GPU is slower than 8800GTX .but DX10 games perform better on ATI cards;)

All my previous cards are ATI made & this the only one from green gobbing:rolleyes:

"Speaking of being drawn into entertainment, like the Geforce 7 series of products the 8800 series features Nvida’s PureVideo HD technology which is responsible for providing exceptional video playback. When ATI first launched Avivo they had a clear lead in video quality when compared to the equivalent Nvidia part, since then Nvidia have been hard at work enhancing video quality and last time we checked they scored about 115 (out of 130) in the HQV benchmark compared to ATI’s 123. With the launch of the 8800 series Nvidia are reporting a score of 128points with the expectation that they will achieve 130 in the near future."

"he ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT is capable of beating the Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX, which is much more expensive, in DirectX 10 applications provided that the Catalyst driver has game-specific optimizations. Of course, Nvidia’s ForceWare driver has to “know” the particular game to run it at a high speed, too."

Sorry to diagree with you there. 2900XT can only come close to 8800GTX in DX9. It is left far away in DX10.

Performance of both ATI Radeon HD 2000 and Nvidia GeForce 8 is fully dependent on drivers, therefore, it is nearly unpredictable which graphics card will eventually become better DirectX 10 performer.

exactly The ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT and HD 2400 XT are kind of DirectX 10 kings in their respective price categories. However, these cards often prove to be slower than Nvidia’s GeForce 8 in the more important DirectX 9 applications.
