It's not universal,compare A64 clock with p4,if it's bit old for you think C2D vs Pentium-D clock.

speaking of which...... these AMD clock speeds are still cofusing me...

can anybody explain is it AMD 2800+ = Intel 2.8Ghz
or AMD 2800+ = Intel 1.8 Ghz

there are no AMD or Intel processors LOL..Athlon/Sempron/.. ,Pentium/Core2/Celeron/...
rofl
you could compare like Athlon xxxx + = Pentium yy GHz upto Willamatte.
but to tell you the truth after introduction of Intel Northwood these things are really confusing without real-life benchmarks:yes:

AMD model numbering doesn't compare AMD and Intel performance (it is a misconception). It only compares an AMD CPU to the original AMD Thunderbird architecture. An AthlonXP 2600+ @ 2.08GHz and FSB333 will perform better than a thunderbird 2.6GHz CPU with FSB "i don't know". :D

This got crippled in X2 CPU numbering. It was a fairly accurate numbering scheme in AthlonXP days.

It will be compatible, but if DX10.1 adds some new specs, they cannot be used by DX10 hardware. They could only be performance enhancements.

who said to compare A64 to p4.. we were talking bout gpus here :D

intel released netburst with pentiums.. look at the prescotts.. the basic architechture was the same(netburst) what they changed was the clockspeeds and cache..

the differance between a prescott 2.8 p4 and 3.0 p4 is 200mhz extra clock speed.. that makes the 3.0 faster... when they could not increase the clock speed more to make pentium 5 before heating the glaciers of antarctica to water they came up with c2d... superior architechture.. once again in the conroe series the basic achitechture remained the same... the differance between Q6300 and Q 6600 is clcokspeed and cache...

What i ment was that:lol::lol::lol::lol:

So back to the question:D.Is It,

AMD Athlon 64x 2800+ = Intel pentium 2.8Ghz or 1.8 Ghz :confused::confused::confused:

athlonxp=pentium 4 5** series

A64=pentium 4 6** series..

so A64 3000+= pentium 4 630 3.06Ghz

and Athlonxp 3000+=pentium 4 570J 3.06 Ghz

They changed pipelining design (i.e. stages) and brought SSE3 in Prescott design.

but to speak the truth AMD wanted to introduce some way to compare their CPUs to Intel's.:D :D

U can compare them like that until P4C was released (with HTT)
