    UNLOCKING GARMIN XT MOBILE

    1) Open application on mobile

    2) Launch Garmin, go to Settings -> About (Make note of your UNLOCK ESN .WRITE IT SOMEWHERE.THIS IS YOUR UNIT ID)

    3) Launch the garmin keygen (its in the zip), and type in your "UNIT ID" in the bar

    4) Hit the first (top most) generate button to generate device unlock key.

    5) Copy this code to a new.txt file. Then save

    7) Put sw.unl file inside Garmin folder in your phones memory card and restart Garmin (Now on Garmin will recognize your inbuilt gps)

    Hi,

Just found this very useful blogger site, http://gpssrilanka.blogspot.com/

It gives all info regarding overlay map to display place names PLUS Ironbutcher-X's PIO's.

I found it after much search as I could only find the Sri Lanka map but NOT the overlay map on Elakiri. Anyway, Elakiri members have done much for inproving GPS use in Sri Lanka.

    Thanks

    ironbutcher_x,

Mate, if you need credits, so be it. you can have it. i found the software completely outside from Elakiri threads (which you previously posted).I just responding to the forum members posts and helping them how to install it and use it.

Here's the link that i found the installation instructions

http://www.mobilesmania.com/forum/i...&p=608210&hl=Garmin&fromsearch=1&#entry608210 (This will require a login)

    OR

    here

    http://www.martin-gardner.co.uk/how-to-install-garmin-mobile-xt-ver-20-on-your-n95-n95-8gb/

please make note the posted date! that's on 02nd March on the previous link and on second link it's way back 2008.

And here's the Map's source based on Survey dept maps. please note that the maps uploaded date is in 2007 and not in 2008 as your "girl" friend said.

    http://mapcenter2.cgpsmapper.com/maplist.php?country=208&region=219

Original credit should go to the map creator since he's the person who created this magnificent map that we use. (Please download the uploaded map by me and find that it doesn't contain any names for cities, so i guess it's not your map that i used there. if you able to correct the map by yourself that's a great achievement indeed.)

what i did is getting both map and software and create a Installation instructions out of that. that's it. i know from my side that i did a wrong b'cos i didn't search for previous GPS related threads. i acknowledge that it's my bad that i didn't saw your posts completely.

PS note: i don't know your a lawyer or not, but Mate, please Get your facts correct before you accuse someone else. and this is for the other guys in this thread, please note that I'm not going after any credits. if you guys found out that it's useful and working then that's it. isn't that we suppose to do, helping each other??? In a Forum??

And about the lawsuit? what's your accusation? Stealing your credits?? Lol.. What is with you? please don't make me laugh with your lawyer jokes with me mate!.. go fly a kite! as it that could help earn you some good old credits.. ;)

    a late reply...

sorry machan for taking such a long time to reply to you... actually i did not know that you i had been responded until now...

anyway, thanks for your advice... although i have been knowing about gps for years, i had no practical know-how until recent time. :( anyway i am not an avid gps user... i just used it for fun.

regarding the firmware update, actually i have the newest firmware installed in my phone (the same version you were referring to), but nothing happened as yet. It works well. maybe your device had some kind of software conflicts...

thanks machan. and keep up your good work.

dude, i typed this yesterday but something happened and it wasnt uploaded, so here it is.

Congrats on ur purchase of E75. U wont be disappointed. Plz dont update phone firmware to V 202.12.01. It has issues, phone restarts for no reason and crashes garmin also. No solution for it yet in the form of firmware.

If ur gonna upload the data in 07-18-2010.zip. U have 2 choices, use the csv and run poi loader, see my previous posts for it. Or, just upload the "Poi.GPI" to /garmin/POI folder. Re start garmin and all data should show in where to/extras/custom poi/ .

If i were u, id keep the poi.gpi in /garmin/ as a copy coz sometimes when garmin crashes, u loose the custom poi datasets. So, then, all u need to do is to copy from /garmin/ the file called poi.gpi to /garmin/poi folder.

Enjoy the hard work we put into it to give gps navigation away free for everyone...

    problem with POIs

    Hi,
Im using GM XT on my Samsung Omnia now for about two years and I just found those ironbutcher_x's POI set few days ago (big thanks to ironbutcher_x). I put them under POI folder but I cant see them on map while im navigating. Settings are all set. Can anybody explain me whats wrong? :(

btw how do I add new POIs and edit current .gpi file? is there a special software for that?

    Thanks
