I think file system is corrupted

1. Boot from XP cd
2. Choose repair from the options menu
3. In the command prompt type the following at c:\ prompt

chkdsk /f /r

4. then press 'ENTER'
5. Wait until it finish the repair process
6. After that type the following at the C:\ prompt

fixboot

7. press ENTER
8. type EXIT at the c:\ prompt
9. boot from the hard disk

if this won't work, You must reinstall xp.

Don't install a fresh copy. Just replace the operating system. In that way you will be able to save your stuff.

If your machine freez at the very first screen. follow these steps

1. unplug data cable of the hard disk
2. Try to boot again and check the error message
3. If it says something like can not find the hard disk the problem exist in your hard disk
4. If it is not and does not show any messages and freez at the very first screen
problem is the RAM
5. Try to replace the RAM and try again. before that you have to check your RAM to ensure whether the problem exist on your RAM or not.
6. If your RAM is fine. Replace the mother board.
