Not sure about car door handles but a steering wheel anti theft lock can be drilled and released..

Remember that scene from MI where Tom Cruise simply touches (hand prints) the window to make the door open, which I thought was ingenious..

After all we are only lab rats in testing labs..

You can't overwrite this. Because it operated by wire. If door jammed or became non operatebale due to crash protection it can be bead sentence.

Learnt about the downsides but the hidden door handles supposed to increase the range and reduce drag, so guess from a business point of view, people will get used to the fact rather than redesigning an old component just to be able to be visible..

Drag is proportional to the speed. For a car on the road, I believe that the drag due to traditional door handles is just negligible. This design, is just overengineering a simple use case to look 'progressively modern'. I would trust Japanese designs over these modern designs.

What causes EV batteries to catch fire? Lithium-ion battery fires start with thermal runaway. This is a self-sustaining chemical reaction within the battery that can spark a fire. This happens if there is damage to the battery, and the ensuing chemical reaction causes a cell to become overheated.

(I believe there's been a lot of E Bike fire accidents too..!)

On a second note, see none of the newer model cars have protruding fuel pump caps for lot of practical reasons.. - who can remember that sticker, prohibiting a kid taking a leak into the fuel tank..?
