Visa can be obtained for valid reason. No problem. (e.g trnsit, visit) But I do not know about 2-3 month visa.
Indians and SL official passport holders could stay up to 14 days without visa(on arrival visa) about 3 years ago. Whether the position about India is changed I do not know.
Sri Lankans can get visa for visits but the time period is not months. If so you need to show the place of residence and money.

Visa can be obtained for valid reason. No problem. (e.g trnsit, visit) But I do not know about 2-3 month visa.
Indians and SL official passport holders could stay up to 14 days without visa(on arrival visa) about 3 years ago. Whether the position about India is changed I do not know.
Sri Lankans can get visa for visits but the time period is not months. If so you need to show the place of residence and money.

sometimes they give only one day. It once happened to me, when i wanted to go to China via Hongkong.

Applied for transit/visitor Visa once when I was flying to CMB from another country and they granted it pretty quickly. Because I had a 10 hour layover in Hongkong and wanted to go out of the air port.

I think I paid around $30 for visa. As per the HK immigration website, if you hold a SL passport, you need a transit visa even to remain in the air side. But generally if you are flying Cathy Pacific, they don't check this strictly.
