How to make trial software last forever

Can someone tell me, how to make trial software last forever, please?

I tried the famous time stopper (not successful)
I tried changing my computer's date and time (successful)

Changing my computer's date is inconvenient, so if anyone knows of a method could you be kind enough to tell me, please?

Thank you and I appreciate that, but what I really want to know, why and how it happened! I like to find the root cause of a problem, rather than applying a quick fix to a problem.
