President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the G11 Summit in Dead Sea, Jordan a shortwhile ago said ," I will return to Sri Lanka as a leader of a nation that vanquished terrorism".
The President told the distinguished audience of leaders from many nations that terrorism had been crushed in Sri Lanka and he would return to his motherland as a leader of a nation that vanquished terrorism.

An unconfirmed report says Prabhakaran is captured by the Government forces at early hours today 16th May. Government is waiting for the President to return from Jordan and address the nation. Government sources said a final announcement of the rebel's defeat was due to be made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is currently on a visit to Jordan and was due back in Sri Lanka Sunday morning. It is now clear that Prabhakaran is dead. The kith and kin of LTTE top leaders including VP have moved to the Army held area with forged identities. The army is now in the process of identifying them. Soosei earlier reported to have literally handed-over his family to the Navy (but reported as captured by the Navy). Some of the self-appointed LTTE Colonels, middle range leaders and regional level leaders have been surrendered to SLA . A group of self proclaimed "Government Doctors" has also turned themselves in to the forces of the 58th division

FLASH: Latest on Battlefield

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa informs President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Commander in Chief of Armed Forces now in Jordan on the latest update in the battlefield.
Meanwhile, intercepted LTTE communications reveal that the terrorists confined only to a tiny strip of land in the West of Vellamullivaikkal, Wanni are preparing for a mass suicide attempt following the unexpectedly heavy setbacks during the past two days.

The terrorists including the remaining few high profiled leaders now pushed to a 3.5 Sq. km pocket “have no other option than surrender to the security forces or to be crushed in the military advance" a military official said.

So far over 16,000 civilians have escaped from the LTTE and have arrived in Government controlled areas over the past two and a half days, the military confirmed.

The military with the assistance of the Government officials are providing them with necessary relief services immediately upon their arrival.

Speaking to www.news.lk from Vavuniya, our Correspondent said, “at the moment there are over 10500 civilians who have arrived at the Omanthai Entry/ Exit point escaping the terrorist". "They will soon be directed to established welfare camps” he said, adding that the Security forces are taking measures to swiftly facilitate this”.
