You kidding? ATI image quality had been superior to nVidia's from the beginning. Only ATI's current BUDGET and MID-RANGE cards perform badly compared to nVidia's offerings. Mainstream and enthusiast level cards are won by ATI. Of course now nVidia has the Geforce 8800 which is the performance king.

In Sri Lanka, maybe. But normally, the highend video cards from previous generation are comparable in performance to mid range cards from a new generation. Sometimes the previous generation card could be better. But feature wise, the new generation cards ARE or more appropriately, SHOULD BE superior to even the highest end cards from previous generation. Great example is an X850XT. It's faster than a X1650XT and Geforce 7600GT, but doesn't support Shader Model 3.0. However, you can't say the same about Geforce 6800Ultra. It's almost always slower than a 7600GT. So even in that perspective, ATI is still better.

The biggest and only drawback in ATI cards is the high power consumption. An X1950XTX consumes more power than the dual GPU Geforce 7950GX2. But people who buy the fastest systems usually don't care about the power consumption. It's the people who have a budget that are worried about the power consumption.

yep, i agree. Wtevr we're nt allowed to use latest products n technologies, coz of the taxes created by silly idiots. So mid range vga's of previous generations are high range for us. 6600 is 12k, its Gt is 16k, 256mb ones. 7300gs is 16k. Isnt there a cheap shipping method available, so that we could buy stuff online.

If you dump the packaging, it would be cheaper to import :D
    OMG! 7300gs is 16k???? That's f***ing slower than a 6600.

    That's unlucky :(

7600GS for Rs.22,000 is damn expensive bro. That's more that 100% the price at which it retails in USA. The last time I checked, EPSI at MC had 7600GS for Rs.17,000 and 7600GT was Rs.25,000. And this is about 2 months ago.

7600GS is almost the same speed as a stock X800GTO. But remember, you can slip in 60-70% more juice out of the X800GTO.

Anyway, it's all up to you. You decide what you are gonna buy and if the price is ok with you. I never thought you would spend more than Rs.15,000 on the vidoe card. I've presented you with all the details you need to buy a mid-range PC. 3

Cheers, and good luck with the motherboard.

They had a problem with the vga cable. When it gets bent over the time, the internal wires get damaged and the colours aren't properly shown.Who thing turns yellow. PC House don't replace it saying it's physical damage.:angry:

I believe you would have been better off with the ViewSonic.

It's the VGA cable that's broken. If you move it, the screen will turn yellow and back normal. It gets worse to a point where you have to replace the cable.

Hi, today only I managed to get into internet with my new system, It is awesome. I installed Carbon, crashes might be bcoz of onboard vga. But I had Underground 2 on my pc. It works smoothly on Hi-mid range settings. Should install Mostwanted.

Anusha as u told onboard sounds are far ahead, if we consider price per perfomance ratio. I have Creative 2.1 speakers, which i've been using on my earlier system with some cheap sound card. Now i'm feeling a big difference with the new onboard sounds.

    Still I havn't found a vga. Tryd EPSI, no 6600Gt there, 6600 is there for 16k, 7300GS for 10k, 7600GS for 20k !!!
