For above each inch more than 40" you have to pay Rs. 10,000 in this case the tax would be Rs. 150,000

I posted an item under my own name from a foreign country by myself. It was allowed in my duty free limit. I had to go to warehouse and show my passport to them. The only charges that I had to pay was 70 rupee. That is for a labor person who helped me to bring the item outside.

if u did that, then you must have been out of Sri Lanka for a long time, additionally you'll have to pay the document charges etc. 55 inches are taxed heavily. additionally the risk of shipping it is also a concern where it can get damaged.
