:yes::yes:

all international schools are not good

all government schools are not good

quality should be improved at many schools

True!! :yes::yes:

getting to be more like, getting kids into schools now :lol:

you got your points there, It's about time the government stood up and did something (which they never will)

You gotta be kidding. :lol::lol: A Sri lankan government standing up for something! It's never gonna happen. (unless, of course, the politicians are directly benefiting from it. ;);))

    its a trend, style :shocked:

    English education in SL government schools should be promoted & expanded

    i think that will reduce the international school fever :yes:

    I think they are doing it already :) a school or two around where I live, now have started English medium classes ...guess government should get some credit after all :lol:

    the thing is, politicians are too comfortable ...It's hard to do shit about anything when you are that comfy :) guess it's like being in the bed under your sheets when the weathers this gloomy...O sleep ..

    English medium in govt schools is getting expanded albeit more slowly than it needs to be expanded, however it is happening.

    As others have said, trend is to start a 'international' school in every nook and corner, most of which teaches some Indian syllabus.

    Yeah, many govt. schools in Colombo have English medium classes. The thing is, even now kids are somewhat reluctant to do Exams in English medium due to lack of English medium tuition classes. (I've heard people say this.)

    You know, I never thought of it like that. :lol::lol: But you may be right, and that might actually be the case with the politicians, now that I come to think of it. :yes::yes::lol::lol:

    Even outside of Colombo it has started. Just that the program is extremely slow moving.
    The tuition issue is a very real one. Also what Eng. Medium tuition teachers there are, are making killing as they charge Per Hour instead of per session/per week/per month.

    Okay so heres what i feel since i was 4 i was at lyceum and did my al's there too, well for me lyceum was the best place ever, considering studies it was awesome and considering the discipline i think it's the best school in the country. So much of extra activities organized by the schools and we were taught the best of values. And another advantage is the fact that usually when in a international school you finish AL at a very young age, i finished mine at 16 and im gonna be 20 and will be done with my degree this year.

    So for me overall considering education, disciple and everything else international schools are a notch ahead, just my opinion.

    that may be a case since kids in O'Ls and A'Ls classes depend a lot on tuition.... they need intuition :lol:

    Yeah, that happens. The supply is much lower than the demand when it comes to English medium teachers, and since our education system is based on merit, everybody wants to perform better than the other person, hence the need for tuition. :yes::yes:

    what we need to do is to find a way to keep them stressed. I suppose the elections don't cause that much of a stress anymore since they can cheat at them. :lol::lol:

    Problem here is that everyone, Parents, Teachers, Children have forgotten the true purpose of exams and grading.
    Having All Ds and As (now its all As) for OLs and ALs has become a status symbol rather than a indication of how pro-efficient that student is in the given subject.
    An OL student may not know the Pythagoras Theorem even though he has 10 As for OLs.

    we have to put them in the opposition :lol: that's the only way!

    see when they have the power, there's no stress..when they are powerless, they got the stress ...:lol: life is all built on good ol' irony ..like when you've got money to drink, no problems, when you got the problems, no money.

    though not as bad as shrinks as teachers actually teach something..

    and you teach the shrink something :lol: ..when nobody listens to you, or the world don't stop to listen to you, you have to pay them to do that. :lol:
