Who were they?

"They" were the human beings from far away future, referred as the 5 dimensional beings, who evolved with time and mastered the art to manipulate 5 dimensions. They have capability to distort the time and space and can revisit the events in any time reference.

As they have shown towards the end in the movie that Dr. Brand (Hathaway) successfully ventured Plan B and managed to set up a colony on Edmund's planet to populate the new planet with human genome. It is to be believed that this new population along with the humans who relocated from Earth evolved into these 5 dimensional, super human beings in far away future.

How did Cooper ended up in Tesseract?

This is the highlight of the movie which is screwing your rational thoughts and making your mind go numb.

Before getting into this explanation, a little revisit of Terminator would be apt, time travel of which has haunted childhoods of many people.
John Connor, sends a man from the future to the past to impregnate the woman who would later give birth to him. So basically he sent his father to the past to get him conceived.
No matter how much I tried to make sense of this situation, I always ended up getting more frustrated.
This is a classic egg or the chicken situation.

Cut to Interstellar. The 5 dimensional beings from far-away future, knew that Earth would cease as a habitable planet, so to ensure the survival of human race and eventually their own existence, they did everything what was required, like creating the worm hole, guiding Coop to the tesseract and they did all of that in a very subtle way.
Does it sound somewhat similar to the Terminator situation?

Coming to the question......
Murphy, daughter of Cooper was the key in the whole script designed by the future beings. As Cooper later realized, that he was not the chosen one, his daughter was. Those beings chose Murph to decode the physics that would let them rescue the Earthlings by lifting the super heavy spacecraft created by NASA by manipulating the gravitational anomalies and ensure the continuation of human race.

This was all a set up by those 5 dimensional beings. It was their grand scheme of plan to let Coop guide Murph into decoding the physics. Dr. Brand was working on a physics problem which when solved could enable human race to lift heavy spaceships and relocate to new frontiers but for solving the problem, he required data on gravitational singularity which could only be found in a black hole. Now, no information can be transmitted from inside a black hole and they had no way to get that data.
Without the data, human would simply not exist in future.
To make sure, that humans survive, the 5 dimensional beings created the tessaract in the room of Murph, because they knew Coop is the only person who could transmit the information to Murph, through the ways which no one else can do.

Now, no information can ever come outside black hole if it crosses the event horizon.
In my understanding, those beings had created the tesseract just before the event horizon and when Coop and TARS detached from Endurance, they fell right into it. Inside the tesseract, the space time was tangled up in a non-linear way.
Here, Coop was able to communicate with Murph in any time frame he pleases. Inside the tesseract, time ceased to exist as we know it and he had all the time on his hand to figure out a way to convey the data to Murph. The data which he procured with the help of TARS. He used gravitational anomalies to send his message across, which Murph eventually decoded.

Once the data was conveyed, the whole purpose of those 5 dimensional beings was fulfilled and their plan of transmitting the information was a success.
I believe that tesseract was also connected to the same worm hole. Once Coop's job was done, the future beings pushed him through the same worm hole to our galaxy. They also made sure that he reaches in the home galaxy in the time when Earthlings were advanced enough to be around the rendezvous point and he gets rescued.
When he came out of the worm hole he was reportedly 124 years old, so that implies he was fast forwarded around 58 years before dropping off to ensure his rescue.
And this is how he ended up floating in space in our galaxy near Saturn

p.s. How I got 58 years?
It took Endurance 2 earth-years in reaching worm hole from Earth. 23 earth-years were spent on Miller's planet and few earth-days for remaining events. Time lapsed could not be more than 26 earth-years for all the events to take place. Let's assume he was 40 year old when he left Earth, total time gap comes as:
124 (current age) - 40 (age at leaving Earth) - 2 (time to worm hole) - 23 (time spent at Miller's planet) - 1 (all other events) = 58 years.

Inside the bookcase, Cooper saw the entire timeline of that room together.


1. He find himself through the singularity into the bookcase. He felt confused/scared. He thought he will never see his daughter again. So in panic he tried to send in STAY signal. Bookcase Cooper sent STAY signal to TIME of farmer Cooper when farmer Cooper had decided do go on mission (means by that time he had already received the coordinates and been to NASA). Bookcase Cooper understands that STAY signal had no effect on Farmer Cooper, as he decided to GO even after getting STAY signal.


2. Above understanding gave idea to Bookcase Cooper that whatever he do, he can’t change his coming to Bookcase. Moreover he now understood that he himself was the force that gave coordinates to Farmer Cooper in the first place. So now he selects that very TIME from Bookcase timeline, and sends the coordinates. This he did to close the loop. His not having done so, Bookcase Cooper might have emerged in the 5th Dimension (supposedly parallel timelines). So to keep himself inside his timeline, he closed the loop of information.



3. If Bookcase Cooper had not given coordinates to Farmer Cooper, a new dimension might have opened. Past would have been changed and hence the future. Bookcase Cooper might not have been able to go back to his own timeline and meet his daughter.

Tesseract is the Three Dimensional representation of fifth dimension, TIME. In there Cooper has access to every moment of Murph's life. In order to help her, he had to find the right moment, hence him going around in the Tesseract. In the begining he tries to stop himself from going on the Mission by giving the messeage STAY. But You can't change the Past if you are a part of it. He never got the data when he was on earth, meaning future him didn't gave it to him. Since he didn't get the data, he doesn't give it to past himself. Hence, TARS saying "we are not here to change the past." Meaning they are already part of Murph's past that has already happen. Once he realised that, he sends the co-ordinates to NASA to past him. So that he can get to the Tesseract to do all the things he does in the Tesseract. After that, he sends the quantum data to the watch he gave to Murph when he left. Giving them the chance to save themselves. In the movie, Professor Brand tells him that they chose him. But in reality, "they", future humans chose Murph, since Tesseract represented every moment of her life in that bedroom. Thats why he gives that quantum data to her.

Interstellar හි ඇත්තටම වෙන දෙය අපිට එක එක theories හරහා හිතන්න පුලුවන්. ඒක හින්දා තමයි. එක එක පාර්ශව එකිනෙකට වෙනස් theories ප්‍රකාශ කරන්නේ. මම මේ විස්තර කරේ මට දැනෙන හා මම විශ්වාස කරන දේයි. Interstellar හි විශිශ්ටත්වය අවුරුදු ගණනාවක් යනතුරු මිනුසුන් අතර කතාබහට ලක් වෙනු ඇත.

ස‍රලව ගත්තොත් පoචමාන තලයට අවතීර්ණ වූ අනාගත මිනිසුන් පෘතුවියේ වෙසෙන තම මුතුන් මිත්තන් මුහුණ දී ඇති අවාසනාවන්ත සහ ඛේදජනක ව්‍යසනයෙන් ගලවා ගැනීමට, තමන්ගේ දැනුම කාලය හරහා ආපස්සට ලබාදී ඔවුන් ගලවා ගත්තා යැයි සිතිය හැකී. මම මෙතන මේ කියපු ටික තේරුම් යන පරිදි කිව්වා කියලා විශ්වාස කරමි.



විශිශ්ට විද්‍යා ප්‍රබන්ධ වල ඇති විශේශත්වය තමයි, චිත්‍රපටිය නිම වීමෙන් අනතුරුවද සිතන්නට යමක් ඉතිරි කිරිම. Interstellar හි ඇත්තටම වෙන දෙය අපිට එක එක theories හරහා හිතන්න පුලුවන්. ඒක හින්දා තමයි. එක එක පාර්ශව එකිනෙකට වෙනස් theories ප්‍රකාශ කරන්නේ. මම මේ විස්තර කරේ මට දැනෙන හා මම විශ්වාස කරන දේයි. Interstellar හි විශිශ්ටත්වය අවුරුදු ගණනාවක් යනතුරු මිනුසුන් අතර කතාබහට ලක් වෙනු ඇත.


The greatness of Interstellar and it being the result of an impeccable filmmaking will be spoken by people even in the many years to come.

ඔව් මේකෙත් සැහෙන දෙයක් කියවෙනවා පහල විස්තරේ ඊට වඩා හොදයි හැබැයි ඉංග්‍රීසියෙන් තියෙන්නේ

Who were they?

"They" were the human beings from far away future, referred as the 5 dimensional beings, who evolved with time and mastered the art to manipulate 5 dimensions. They have capability to distort the time and space and can revisit the events in any time reference.

As they have shown towards the end in the movie that Dr. Brand (Hathaway) successfully ventured Plan B and managed to set up a colony on Edmund's planet to populate the new planet with human genome. It is to be believed that this new population along with the humans who relocated from Earth evolved into these 5 dimensional, super human beings in far away future.

How did Cooper ended up in Tesseract?

This is the highlight of the movie which is screwing your rational thoughts and making your mind go numb.

Before getting into this explanation, a little revisit of Terminator would be apt, time travel of which has haunted childhoods of many people.
John Connor, sends a man from the future to the past to impregnate the woman who would later give birth to him. So basically he sent his father to the past to get him conceived.
No matter how much I tried to make sense of this situation, I always ended up getting more frustrated.
This is a classic egg or the chicken situation.

Cut to Interstellar. The 5 dimensional beings from far-away future, knew that Earth would cease as a habitable planet, so to ensure the survival of human race and eventually their own existence, they did everything what was required, like creating the worm hole, guiding Coop to the tesseract and they did all of that in a very subtle way.
Does it sound somewhat similar to the Terminator situation?

Coming to the question......
Murphy, daughter of Cooper was the key in the whole script designed by the future beings. As Cooper later realized, that he was not the chosen one, his daughter was. Those beings chose Murph to decode the physics that would let them rescue the Earthlings by lifting the super heavy spacecraft created by NASA by manipulating the gravitational anomalies and ensure the continuation of human race.

This was all a set up by those 5 dimensional beings. It was their grand scheme of plan to let Coop guide Murph into decoding the physics. Dr. Brand was working on a physics problem which when solved could enable human race to lift heavy spaceships and relocate to new frontiers but for solving the problem, he required data on gravitational singularity which could only be found in a black hole. Now, no information can be transmitted from inside a black hole and they had no way to get that data.
Without the data, human would simply not exist in future.
To make sure, that humans survive, the 5 dimensional beings created the tessaract in the room of Murph, because they knew Coop is the only person who could transmit the information to Murph, through the ways which no one else can do.

As shown in movie, love is the only thing which exists beyond space and time and they were counting on the strong bond of love between Coop and his daughter, which would let Coop transmit the information through the power of love to his daughter, which could not be transmitted by any other means, whatsoever.

Their love was the only connection and only way of survival for the entire human race.


Now, no information can ever come outside black hole if it crosses the event horizon.
In my understanding, those beings had created the tesseract just before the event horizon and when Coop and TARS detached from Endurance, they fell right into it. Inside the tesseract, the space time was tangled up in a non-linear way.
Here, Coop was able to communicate with Murph in any time frame he pleases. Inside the tesseract, time ceased to exist as we know it and he had all the time on his hand to figure out a way to convey the data to Murph. The data which he procured with the help of TARS. He used gravitational anomalies to send his message across, which Murph eventually decoded.

Once the data was conveyed, the whole purpose of those 5 dimensional beings was fulfilled and their plan of transmitting the information was a success.
I believe that tesseract was also connected to the same worm hole. Once Coop's job was done, the future beings pushed him through the same worm hole to our galaxy. They also made sure that he reaches in the home galaxy in the time when Earthlings were advanced enough to be around the rendezvous point and he gets rescued.
When he came out of the worm hole he was reportedly 124 years old, so that implies he was fast forwarded around 58 years before dropping off to ensure his rescue.
And this is how he ended up floating in space in our galaxy near Saturn

p.s. How I got 58 years?
It took Endurance 2 earth-years in reaching worm hole from Earth. 23 earth-years were spent on Miller's planet and few earth-days for remaining events. Time lapsed could not be more than 26 earth-years for all the events to take place. Let's assume he was 40 year old when he left Earth, total time gap comes as:
124 (current age) - 40 (age at leaving Earth) - 2 (time to worm hole) - 23 (time spent at Miller's planet) - 1 (all other events) = 58 years.

Inside the bookcase, Cooper saw the entire timeline of that room together.


1. He find himself through the singularity into the bookcase. He felt confused/scared. He thought he will never see his daughter again. So in panic he tried to send in STAY signal. Bookcase Cooper sent STAY signal to TIME of farmer Cooper when farmer Cooper had decided do go on mission (means by that time he had already received the coordinates and been to NASA). Bookcase Cooper understands that STAY signal had no effect on Farmer Cooper, as he decided to GO even after getting STAY signal.


2. Above understanding gave idea to Bookcase Cooper that whatever he do, he can’t change his coming to Bookcase. Moreover he now understood that he himself was the force that gave coordinates to Farmer Cooper in the first place. So now he selects that very TIME from Bookcase timeline, and sends the coordinates. This he did to close the loop. His not having done so, Bookcase Cooper might have emerged in the 5th Dimension (supposedly parallel timelines). So to keep himself inside his timeline, he closed the loop of information.



3. If Bookcase Cooper had not given coordinates to Farmer Cooper, a new dimension might have opened. Past would have been changed and hence the future. Bookcase Cooper might not have been able to go back to his own timeline and meet his daughter.

Tesseract is the Three Dimensional representation of fifth dimension, TIME. In there Cooper has access to every moment of Murph's life. In order to help her, he had to find the right moment, hence him going around in the Tesseract. In the begining he tries to stop himself from going on the Mission by giving the messeage STAY. But You can't change the Past if you are a part of it. He never got the data when he was on earth, meaning future him didn't gave it to him. Since he didn't get the data, he doesn't give it to past himself. Hence, TARS saying "we are not here to change the past." Meaning they are already part of Murph's past that has already happen. Once he realised that, he sends the co-ordinates to NASA to past him. So that he can get to the Tesseract to do all the things he does in the Tesseract. After that, he sends the quantum data to the watch he gave to Murph when he left. Giving them the chance to save themselves. In the movie, Professor Brand tells him that they chose him. But in reality, "they", future humans chose Murph, since Tesseract represented every moment of her life in that bedroom. Thats why he gives that quantum data to her.
