Is it Ok to ask for Rep points ??????

We have seen so many threads ending up with asking

"Give me + rep if you like my post " or something like that
aren't we ?

Someone put those kinda request to their siggies too

Is it ok or not ?

Plz try to understand I have absolutely no intention of insulting for those who do.

Feel free to express your ideas gently

In my personal view I think it is ok

But there's two side of that

Asking for rep points remind the other members that theres is rep system so you can give + rep for this post as well

Or

Asking for +rep may be damage unfettered thoughts coz someone giving the rep points just bcz the thread starter asking

But it the end it still says "If you like my post ...."

So I think it is ok to ask

Anyway I wont be just bcz it makes me think Im being naive towards the community

my opinion is that its not a good thing to ask 4 +rep points.......ppl give u rep if the thread helped him/her or if its valuable 2 them they will give reps.....[still its a bit new 2 ek ppl so it will take time 2 adjust neh!!]

lol well the message u get says we'd be lucky enuf to get baq a rep from the person whom we added reps, isn't it?
so its not a prob i guess, but as GT mentioned , now we cant exchange rep points, if somebody add reps to you, u cant add reps baq to him without giving to some others..
This happened to me, for a particular member, hu had given me reps, i v never given rep points to him yet but i am not allowed to add reps to him! know any reason??

A good question.I don't think there is any problem in asking for rep points.But I think if your posts really deserve rep points users will add them.

it is well popular in computer related forums
for example like if a guy get good reputation points like for helping guys to fix problems in Microsoft
microsoft will eventually provide a MVP certificate with so many benifts.

ok i know thats illegal, but only now!
I tried to add him reps for some worthy post which i encountered that problem
don't tell me Rep system read the content and decide whether it should allow the user to add someone rep points
dats kindda bug i guess, or GT bro has put some new restrictions
