Is it worth buying a MacBook air 2017 ?

All I need is a light weight, ultra thin notebook to do my daily mailings and Surfing. I have seen many ultra books going above 150K yet I can get a MacBook air at around 165k 2017 version my second thought is , is it really worth that and does Mac depreciates slower than other brands ?

Seeking some good advices form the Tec folks
