He can't be dead.
This is because a lot of backstory and history is put into the creation of Jon's character in the Books.
He might die later in the last two books but not now. It doesn't make any sense.
Specially going around the story of Lyanna & Rhaegar ( The main cause of Roberts hatred towards the Targaryens and the very battle against aryes) and also Eddards flash memories about Lyanna's last moments and his promise made to her..
And Eddards unconditional love towards Jon. Even Catelyn doesn't understand why this is.
So much work was done for the creatin of the character "Jon Snow".
It wouldn't make any sense at all by killing him like this even when his identity is a mystery and his character is still been built to the man he should become
