i had the same issue with my macbook air after put it in to the sleep mode. I took it to an apple genius bar and they fixed it in 10 minutes. They said it was a simple glitch and didnt charge me a penny. most probably you are having the same issue. dont let people play with your laptop go to the authorised dealer.

Your problem could have been just a power management reset. Only got to remove the back cover, take off the battery connectors, reconnect and it must have come back to life ;-(
But this problem appears to be more than that - otherwise the first repairer would have done this obviously as his first step.
This series of motherboards have whats called G3 HotRail power..Can be repaired by a skilled person with proper schematic diagrams.
Also there are second hand parts usually available in eBay! Good luck.

Forgot to ask.. When you connect the charger does the power indicator lamp lights up even faintly and if so which colour is it?

    Mchn YES.
The magsafe connector lights up in amber. Fully bright as usual not a faint light.
There are troubleshooting tips provided by apple itslelf to have the laptop connected to a power source and do SMS reset or PRAM reset etc...
The light turns from amber to green as they say but pressing the power button didn't unfortunately didn't turn on the macbook.

Yea  I did see this on a YouTube video where the person takes of the back casing.
Taking off the connectors and reconnecting and VOILA the macbook is powering on.
Definitely the shop people may have done that in the first place.

I think you better take it to an Apple authorized sales person such as Abans or BT Options. It may look like its expensive but in the end when you sum up all the costs you spend on other places will sum up to the actual cost at Abans or BT Options. The Apple hardware is quite different from the usual repairs which the shop technicians are aware of and you might end up damaging the machine in the end. (Dont take to Futureworld)

Also post the issue on Apple Support Forums or ifixit, there could be people having the same problem.

Should create a post and see what happens.
    Thanks for the tip though.

Sorry just arrived at home. That's good news. I don't think it's dead as a dodo. Quite likely fixable. Sadly I cannot say what's exactly is wrong with it though, from a distance ;-( You got to find someone who has a sound knowledge in electronics.
Your original repairer said it could be the power IC which they didn't have - I believe this model had a ISL6259 chip which should be available online to purchase. Note that there are other components too which are likely to fail - not only this power management IC. So you need to find a repairer who has a good knowledge on these.

Yes :) mchn. When the 2nd repair shop said that the repair failed I called the first shop I gave it to who concluded that it is a Power IC issue. So they said that they have received some motherboards similar to mine and said to bring the laptop back to replace components and check if the issue will be resolved.
I'm planning to take it tomorrow to them. They don't charge either unless the issue is resolved.

If they are unable to source the part I might be able to help you out. Get the exact chip detail. Probably it's an ISL6259HRTZ. These are 4x4 QFN packaged and need special soldering.
    Hope for the best.
