Sri Lanka received independence far sooner than advisable.
If they had remained under the British till at least the 90's SL would be like Hong Kong now.

And most of the Presidents and Politicians have no Education, no IQ, no Brains so when China came offering loans they grabbed it and pocketed half and used the rest for useless projects such as Lotus Tower and Airports and other unnecessary ventures. Didn't have the brains to realize that if they didn't pay them back in time country will be fucked. And if some emergency like Covid arose things might get fucked up double quick.

Most Politicians are drug dealers or useless black fisherman with zero education to run a country.
So thats the reason the country is in this situation- the leaders need to be people with law degrees and PHDs and at least University Education level in order to run the country properly.
