im using nokia n 95.. Gps working good bt without maps its useless... google maps have more details in sri lanka map... in my phone it takes 30-45 seconds to connect with satalites... i thnik in nokia 5800 has good signal strength it connects within 15 secons evan under some trees os small roofs....

I am using a GPS phone. But it is useless in Sri Lanka
1. there are no proper maps.
2. no proper road signs.
3. Charge your internet connection when loading maps.
4. Battery consumption is extremely low when you switch on the GPS

1. there are proper maps : Garmin - works with most of smart phones.
2. yes. even real world haven't
3. Offline Maps or Garmin doesn't need online data connection
4. Yes. you can't get more than 4 hour navigation with any phone.

GPS is Useless but in google Map u can get guide only for main roads i have used in my Blackberry Storm 9500..............No need of Approvals

Even Japan, India etc.. have no GPS system.
GPS is a USA owned system. but its 100% free open for any country in world.

there are country specific restrictions for GPS. but Maps, Navigation differance in country to country. such as turn by turn navigation may not available everywhere.

It useful in SL. outcome is lack of highly detailed map.
