well the thing was , it was surely the sound which made him signal a dead ball but the reason behind it wasn't obvious
perhaps the guy might have thought the sound would've startled some players and something lyk that

Yeah, I didn't get what happened at all
But if we lost that match accidentally that umpire guy would be gone forever
