i dunno , I have never ever had any issues with Asus ODDs. I've owned 3 including this,
2 cd writers and this DVD writer.
yeah even i remember those days they had a good suspension system, very low noise, and was rock solid , was heavy compared wit others.
I had issues with a Sony CD Combo and a DVD writer
(some cds cannot be read by sony which are written in some bulky Cd,DVD duplicators, when i ask my retailer he said that sony is most probably made to run original CDs dvds
). i bought "just cause" game and didn't work wit ma prev. Sony and wit ma frnds samsung. Samsung users say that they sucks their balls so hard, almost every generation. coz they have a higher failure rate when it comes to writing.

100% agreed, all those are marketing gimmicks, mid range mbos can oc as good as those so called 'high-end' thingys. bt you cannot find that lcd poster in mid range or low end mobos
