At present, they use paper leave slips to apply for leaves. Managers and Directors have to sign the slips in order to complete the applied leaves. HR department keep & maintain data in a spreadsheet application. The problems identified in the existing system are:

- Employees have to manually fill the slips and apply for leaves before or after they get the leave unless their salaries will be deducted end of the month.
- Employees need to go to the manager individually with leave slips to get approvals.
- HR department needs to be follow up manually with all the paper slips.
- Employees cannot check their available leaves for a specific period; whenever they want they need to check it from HR department manually.
Objectives
The organization realizes the need of ease of an automated solution which could minimize above mentioned problems to a greater extent. The proposed system, Web based automated employee leave management system is expected to improve organization efficiency and thereby :
- Employees able to apply for leaves via the system using their working PC.
- Employees can get an idea about their non-applied, applied leave counts and manage their personal arrangements.
- Managers and directors can identify employees leave applying patterns and manage the work productivity according to them.
- Managers and directors can view reports of employee leaves.
- HR admin will be able to update leaves, generate reports in order to make salaries.
- HR department will be not need to maintain manually file records of employee leave slips.
Scope
The proposed solution is a leave management system which will allow employees and managers to apply and approve leaves in a system environment which is covering the following functional aspects:
Employee Area
- Login as employee to apply for leaves (annual/casual).
- Check whether requested leaves have been endorsed by manager and approved by the director.
- Check leave balances.
- Login as manager to apply for leaves and endorse employee’s leaves.
- Check whether requested leaves have been approved.
- Check leave balances.
- Get reports of employee leaves.
Director Area
- Login as director to approve leaves.
- Check whether employee/manager requested leaves have been approved.
- Get reports of employee leaves.
HR Admin Area
- Login as HR Admin to apply for leaves, and check all leaves applied by employees and check leave statuses.
- Get reports of employee leaves.
- Add employee, manager leave accounts.
- Add leaves to accounts according to employees status(probationer, permanent employee, manager)
IT Admin Area
- Management of the system.
- Account management (Activation of leave accounts of users, sending the password back if forgot)
