I don't think that punishment can stop people doing wrong, it is an age old myth.

Besides Alcohol and Sex is only bad according to some religions. It is a religious belief and not a big issue (as I think).

Anyway Iran is an Islamic country, If you live there you have to bide the law there. There are so many other countries where you can do whatever you want unless it hurts someone (or the government).

Well, if you live in SL you can drink, but not publicly. You may have sex, but with mutual consent... etc, etc...

There are religions where lashing is done as a part of ritual. But it is done on the consent of that person, not such horribly and hard.

Religious practices are optional and should be on individuals consent. If a religious punishment or practice is superimposed on a person isn't it a violation of human rights?
