most probably it is due to low voltage.
LED should work without any issue with both pure and modified sine wave inverters. LED lights are using a led driver, which is simply an SMPS + constant current driver, SMPS should work without any issue with any inverter(either pure sine wave or modified sine wave) if the voltage is sufficient.
Note : i have used modified sine wave inverters for LED lights and worked without any issues.

labeta thiyena LED wala smps na banz...nikanma cap + resistor ekakin voltage drop wenne...so frequncy mach wenne ntnam + distrotion + noise walata LED gahenna puluwn...
