This is a calculated strategy by Google to challenge Nvidia's dominance. Their long term goal is to commercialize their TPUs, and I'm pretty sure a part of this deal is for Anthropic to run on Google's TPU infrastructure. This will build the crucial market endorsement they need to drive future hardware sales.

As I know Opus 4.7 and Mythos were already trained on TPUs (Not sure about whose TPU).
Makes sense. Google has actually been investing in Anthropic for years. They had already put in around $3 billion before this massive $40 billion deal. Seems like they are definitely doubling down on their long term hardware and cloud strategy.
